How can it be perfect when Brotherhood is better?
>>
>>736604238
I like the music
I like protagonist
I like the story
I like the map
I like the town building
>>
>>736604278
I thought the same but upon replying both I've decided that Florence is better than Rome.
>>
>>736604278
Brotherhood has one glaring fault, which is the ending sequences that are massively rushed and worse, you are forced to use the apple as your only weapon.
Story was also probably stronger in 2, but Brotherhood plays a lot better, obviously.
>>
>>736604169
It was worse than AC1 thoughever?
>>
>>736604169
It's a slog, Brotherhood is much better
>>
>>736604684
AC1 isn't even open world. It's a solid foundation but still some ways off from being a truly great game.
>>
>>736604169
the current state of gaming is so bad that zoomers are praising ubislop on /v/
I wonder how you fags will feel when you see gen alpha talk about how yasuke's game and starfield were masterpieces in 10 years
>>
>>736604612
The ending being horribly rushed is undeniable, but AC2 had the opposite issue, the last few chapters being heavily padded. But the gameplay with its additions, like raising the assassins, made up for it, and the story delivery was smoother too for the most part. Plus kino side quests like the one about Da Vinci's inventions.
>>
>>736604684
Take the nostalgia goggles off. I replayed AC1 recently and it doesn't gold up outside of the story. It's the same 3 missions on repeat.
>>
>>736604843
AC2 is widely accepted as a good game. Not a single drop of your zoomer revisionism is going to change that.

IT IS ME! EZIO! EIZO AUDITORE!

Yes. AC1 really does feel like a proof of concept game. It did age very poorly. AC2 was the game where the series found its footing, for better or for worse.
>>
>>736604786
It didn't try to be, that's the thing. AC2 effectively changed genres.

>>736604859
>I replayed AC1 recently
So did I. How can there be nostalgia for a game released in 2007 but not one released in 2009?

Ubisoft allowed Désilets' team for the first game to do whatever they wanted so they ended up with a game that looking back was more of a 'cult following'-type of historical Hitman than the kind of game a AAA developer/publisher like Ubisoft wants. AC2 was a direct response to AC1's harshest critics. The game slowly but surely moved from trying to be a social assassin simulator to a historic GTA with sidequests about beating husbands, delivering letters or horse racing. Ezio was written to be cool and in the right all the time, great with ladies and with bombastic action setpieces surrounding him. That, and there's only one intermission with Desmond in the entire game (the Acre dream) compared with the eight you had in the first game, all accompanied with learning a little bit more about Vidic, Lucy and Abstergo. It was AC2 which started the real Ubisoft collectathon with the chests, feathers that this time around did matter for narrative progression, an economy system... if you've ever seen people in the last decade say that AC1 has "aged badly", it's mostly because AC2 was the one that actually made the franchise into a crowd pleaser. For better and in time, definitely for worse. There's a reason Ubisoft hasn't remastered or rereleased AC1, why most people at least back in the day told you to start with 2 and why Ubisoft themselves want you to given the Ezio Collection. They want you to forget that game and what it tried to be and do. They keep referencing Altaïr and adding his outfit to the new games but Ubisoft is ashamed of his game and the vision of the original devs.

Prefer Origins to Odyssey
>>
Is Mirage any good? It's supposed to be that "throwback" game to the originals.
I assume it doesn't quite succeed?
>>
>>736605253
i like Greeks better than Egyptians, but Origins had a better map
>>
>>736605206
>Ezio was written to be cool and in the right all the time, great with ladies and with bombastic action setpieces surrounding him.
Yeah, I miss when games were allowed to be simply fun and cool, and didn't try to beat you down like everything else.
>>
>>736605329
Yeah Ancient Egypt is a perfect setting
>>
>>736604612
Final chapters in 2 are the absolute dogshit. Forli is kida passable but does jack shit with the story, but Savonarola is definitely the worst chapter in the trilogy. Kill 9 random mooks all of which are basically "I'm a bridge governor, nobody uses my bridge, I'm a port governor, nobody uses my port, I'm a grain governor nobody uses my grain" and then you come up to the captured Savonarola and mercy kill him. His palace looked nice, I guess.
>>
>>736605329
I prefer the Norse to both. I did like Valhalla, actually, I just wish it stopped pretending it's an AC game, because 90% of the time my Eivor was just charging into fights head-on, because lol, viking.
>>
>>736604169
gimmicky slop
>>
>>736604169
It's pretty good but certainly not perfect with that rushed third and simplified combat. Also 1 and Revelations had more sovl
>>
I wouldn't say perfect, but it's leagues above any other game in the series (Brotherhood is more of an expansion). It's the only AC I can play repeatedly and it's a blast every time. Such a shame they never came close to capturing what made this game so good.
>>
>>736605312
Watched my buddy play it and It's fine. It plays like old ACs but the story and writing is whatever - not horrible but doesn't make much sense.
>>
>>736605396
Aren't those DLC sequences? I seem to remember you can skip them or something.
>>
>>736605893
They were console DLCs, yes, but on PC they are mandatory as far as I could tell. Maybe you could somehow disable them in the data files, .ini or idk, but definitely not in the game.

>aliens and mind control orb ending
>anything outside animus is dogshit

ya, its pretty retarded
>>
That one mission towards the end where you dress up as a guard to intercept the Apple, get detected, and then job to Borgia until your Assassin buddies show up left a permanent stain on my hippocampus. I can't even explain why, I don't think it's even that bad, but I just truly hate it.
Love the final level infiltrating Rome and especially Ezio's encounter with Minerva or Juno or whoever it was.
Hate the fucking flying machine missions. DLC sucked too.
Great game overall.

Based

>>736607458
They really are married to this Animus stuff.
I guess they started to realize nobody cares about Animus around AC4, but it took Ubisoft until Shadows to entirely remove the modern day plot from the game and Shadows was better for it, IMO.
>>
>>736604991
who do you think this series is made for?

Story-wise it's a disappointment since the targets are just barely fleshed out (AC1's got way more development despite less time) and they do nothing to follow up on Valhalla's reveals of Basim so what you actually want from the game is literally used as the ending cutscene and extremely disappointing.
Gameplay-wise it's solid. Combat is basically parrying or nothing because enemies hit hard and normal attacks constantly get blocked. Stealth is heavily encouraged due to this and they force you to do stuff like charge throwing knives if you want them to be accurate. You have to 100% ignore the teleport assassination though, it breaks the game and pretty much only exists to cheese stuff.
Map is really great, it's like a classic AC game with some modern country-map stuff surrounding it but there's barely anything outside of the city to explore so it nearly all takes place in the city which is well designed.

t. 100%ed and permadeath'd it twice. Just need to do the challenges and post-patch content now.

yes bro, ac2 is bad, only gooner vns, gacha and walk and talk rpg maker incest games are good

>I guess they started to realize nobody cares about Animus around AC4
Except they do. The belief that people dislike the Animus or Modern Day is a statement made by a vocal minority. People complained about the Modern Day moments in BF and Rogue because they were too frequent, then when Unity and Syndicate had barely any people were pissed which is why Layla exists at all. Then everyone complained about Layla which is why they eased up on it in Mirage and Shadows, but now they know people hate them for how little there was of it in Shadows which is why they are heavily pushing for more Animus Ego content updates in Shadows now. The entire AoT event overshadowed the fact that they had an entire Isu segment and more Animus Ego stuff added which currently still has a cliffhanger they're working on.

The only people who bitch about the Isu, Animus, and Modern Day are essentially the vocal minority that posts here. Every time they remove it there's a huge backlash against it.
