So it wasn't a dream
Yeah I guess if you imagine there was a mountain range or volcano right next to that tower, it could maybe make sense.
Cool cope but there were windows in the poison windmill and I saw no volcano
>>736605803I like this interpretation a lot.
>earthen peak>actually its not a peakThanks, very cool
dark souls 2 is just a shit game. it's been 10 years who still gives a fuck
It's almost like locations in Dark Souls are just random levels that they make separately and they only connect them near the end of development
>>736605730The lore is the keep was so heavy it sank. Building something over a volcano is unsound but it's a fantasy game in a series with weird time shenanigans so it's not a big deal.
>>736605960if someone asked me I'd say that it's at least 15 years old
>>736606058The lore is unironically that multiple dimensions are converging and the environment is supposed to not make sense. In reality it's just developer oversight.
>>736606026>Dark Souls>All areas intuitively connect to form a unified map>Elden Ring >All areas intuitively connect to form a unified map>Sekiro>All areas intuitively connect to form a unified map>Demon's Souls >All areas are completely segregated but you can see from their sky boxes how they would intuitively connect to form a unified map>Bloodborne>Areas connect in seemingly impossible ways because you are fighting eldritch horrors that exist in non-euclidean space>Dark Souls 2>Areas connect in seemingly impossible ways because
>>736605808There were volcanoes, they were very far behind but it's still stupid. Dark Souls 2 has a lot of nonsensical map layouts, some even more egregious than this but the "windmill in the middle of a plain with a mountain range far behind" -> "hallway to an elevator" -> "top of a volcano" was by far the most noticeable and immersion breaking transition of the lot.
>>736606446>some even more egregious than this like what
>>736608124
Ackshualyl it's supposed to simulate dementia so it's good
>>736608180
i find ds2 more fun than 3. 3 has good mods ig. Ds1 has some cool shit and is a good game.
>>736606421>2 best games don't make sense to NPC faggotsBased. You're low IQ. And that's ok
>>736608384ds1 pre lordvessel is peak but post lordvessel is kind of a slog
>>736608190I wish this game had system similar to insight but instead it applied when you get to certain hollow level. Things that would question your own sanity.
>>736608473I have never understood why people think this. The game is the same throughout. Nothing changes
>>736608527On my first playthrough anor londo is where it feels like I was walking through a half finished level. After that it gets worse with an apex of shit when entering lost izalith and having 10+ dragon butts aggro on me.
>>736608527because progression kinda stops by the time you reach the lordvessel, most of your important stats reach softcap and your gear is almost maxed out so everything past feels like cleanup
>>736605590>it was all a dream
>>736608180What they should had done.
Another day /v/ whines about the best Souls game. Haven't skipped a beat yet.
>>736608527>pre lordvessel>running around an interconnected hub of levels in a freeflowing order of mostly your choosing>culminates in a big adventure to anor londo which is admittedly not as good as it could be>post lordvessel>hey remember those big yellow fogs we didnt let you through completely arbitrarily? You can do them now. You can also just warp right to them. Also none of the areas behind these doors connect in any interesting ways so youre just gonna wanna warp to the next one right when youre done>also also they all suck ass and are unfinishedThose are the obvious ones. What I dont see people talking about is the "go kill 4 niggas" quest isnt as narratively compelling as ringing the bells to access sens/anor londo. The latter implies a journey and exploration, you are tasked to go do something so that you can travel somewhere else. The former comes across as a very arbitrary checklist. If you think about it with a bit of finaggling, you can cut the second half of the game entirely and just have the lordvessel open the path to the kiln right then and there, and it would still be narratively satisfying.
>>736605590There's literally no mountain behind it tall enough to fully obscure iron keep and no have a single red in the entire skybox seem from harvest valley. This game has poorly made skybox and level designe, cope.
>>736606421>>All areas are completely segregated but you can see from their sky boxes how they would intuitively connect to form a unified mapreally nigga
>>736614023There's a mod to somewhat fix that, but still not exacly what it should look like, that mountain should've been way closer.
fixed it
>>736606206>In reality it's just developer oversight. It's what they managed to salvage and repurpose from a failed project. They had different levels that they had to quickly stitch together.
>>736606421Because the development of this game was a fucking dsiaster that had to be rushed out like crazy in its last 12 months and like 80% of the areas weren't supposed to connect the way they do.If your issue is the lore, then not being accept that Drangleic isn't 1:1 in-game is toddler talk.
>>736608408Dark Souls 2 is fucking trash no matter how much you continue to feverishly defend it.
>Almost all the downgrades were caused by shitty cucksolesThis makes me sad.
>>736605803:3
>>736614293look what you've fucking done, now it's only a matter of time until there's edits with the fucking diamond miners, Plato's cave, Digdug, etc
The whole path from Majula (hell, actually right from the starting point in Things Betwixt) to the Bastille is a total mess, transition-wise.>start on cliff>walk short corridor>come out of a sunken building on the open sea>go sub-sea level with an elevator and stairs>walk through a short cave>end up above sea level in wharf>summon ship>sails are in tatters>board ship>cutscene has the ship magically rotate 180° on the spot>reach bastille dock>the ship's sails are suddenly all fixed (of course they're ripped again when going back to the wharf)>this shit happens>>736608180>>736608269
Physically speaking: how the hell would that giant windmill down there even fucking work in the first place?
>>736606421>All areas intuitively connect to form a unified mapAnon Ash Lake compleatly rapes any logic of the world in DS1
