Well, with the modern context we know he was just a large language model built for surveillance, so anything right or wrong he might have said was purely accidental. If you asked him "are you sure" he'd do a 180 just to be nice.

Best quote in a game full of incredible lines. Shame he's quiet and there's a lot of background noise; every video I find of their conversation is difficult to hear, and by extension difficult for people who didn't play the game to listen to.

If anyone has a video of the conversation with good sound, I'd appreciate a link to it.

Morpheus wasn't an LLM, or else he's just copying a version of what a human has said somewhere, and has repeated it to many people initiating the same conversation. The AI that set Denton free at Liberty Island infiltrates and merges with Morpheus to create Helios, who Denton can choose to merge with and is Helios' own preference for merging over Bob Page. Morpheus is having this conversation with JC, specifically for him, because it has an idea of what is going to happen. This is set in 2052, so the modern context doesn't matter so much, but we are now just two years off Human Revolution and I don't have my spinny wrists or sunglasses augmentation yet.

Pillars of Eternity's premise is "If god didn't exist it would be necessary to make n bake Him praise jesus" Voltairtard. It's a great premise. I like the idea of a civilisation realising their gods are fake but deciding do double down and make them real.
Shame the first game is so interminably boring about it and the second game kind of just cruises over it, and as best I can tell from the one person who played avowed: it dodges exploring the issue entirely again.

Real shame.

Partly yes and Partly no, mainly because humans require multiple forms of stimulus at different times which can contradict each other and in that lash out when one aspect stick around to long.
Humans wish to be assimilated, humans whish to be autonomous, most humans will form their long standing views on topics in the moment thy first hear about them and carry that with them regardless of how their emotional state was than and changes in the future, and in doing so contain the contradiction within himself passively and without introspection.

Man will build god in his heart one day, and then betray that god the next because he forgot to eat breakfast.

We couldn't have imagined that this piece of shit would make 80% of humanity not care about human achievement anymore. Instead of widening the world and unlocking physical and intellectual enhancement, it narrowed our vision to a tiny black screen, separating us from each other; giving us an illusion that we no longer need to assimilate into meaning at all.

>an AI that follows code and instructions
But that's the thing.
Both JC and Morpheus/Daedalus/etc. are no different by virtue of them both being planned organisms that naively follow their programming. If anything the Morpheus => Daedalus pipeline is a reflection of JC where they both blindly followed Illuminati/MJ12/UNATCO dogma and grew to question it and act on their own emergent beliefs.
Although the analysis kinda falls flat for little nuances like:
>Icarus is a what-if of a Denton that still followed the dogma
>Daedalus arguably degraded and consumed himself in the need to attack back through the milnet
>Helios foreshadows the "merging" of the AIs and Denton seems a bit cyclical in causality
etc.

I feel it's an intended comparison but probably isn't anything more than something superficial by virtue of not surviving through script changes or whatever.
Also I wrote all that out earlier forgetting the crux is JC criticizing how he feels no one would/should blindly trust a machine whose entire allure is it having language synthesis tied to a well of knowledge but I don't want to not post my comparison

>The AI that set Denton free at Liberty Island infiltrates and merges with Morpheus
Daedalus merges with Icarus to create Helios (think of the story)
Icarus is a later version of Morpheus being used by MJ12/Page
>>
>>736635714
I don't know, I think you're onto something, the writing in the game is very deliberate. Religion and religious symbology is everywhere in the game. The Illuminati HQ is in a cathedral. Page's obsession with becoming a God and quoting Aquinas, etc.
>>
>>736628145
Actually civilization came to be out of convenience.
>Grug share meat and let Gruggette stay in warm cave if Grugette give Grug boing boing and bear Grug's children.
Thus civilization is born. Capitalism is basically the same theory, which is why it's the only system that works.

Yea, as a newcomer, you should know some things.
First, it's not an fps, it's an rpg with stealth/fps elements. Meaning you gotta upgrade your rifle skill if you want rifles to be usable, you won't hit shit otherwise and this applies to every skill. I mean, duh, but people just don't get it somehow.
Second, pic related. Due to questionable balance some hitboxes are wack. Also, if you're using melee, you want to hit the back of their heads if lethal(knives, crowbar, sword) and the middle of their actual backs if non-lethal, that's both for baton and prod.

Stop being so dramatic
People choose the way they use technology
If someone spent their days on their smartphone disconnected from reality by using social media, that's not the fault of smartphones, but the person using it
You may as well go ahead and blame guns for all the shootings that's happening in America instead of the people using it

Nice false equivalency, dumbass
The difference is gambling and (non-medical) drugs does not do any good and can actually ruin lives. Smartphones don't unless you use it to extreme degree (which can be said to pretty much anything including playing video games). You can benefit from smartphones by making them a portable literature machines, but people choose not to
