Sam, did you want to post in the death stranding thread ? You need to get the captcha first. Sam, did you fail to complete the captcha ? Sam, are you seething ?
how do you consistently avoid the ghost rider spear attack?
For all its improvements DS2 really lacks the soul of the original. For example, there is no where I want to make my final quit point to end my play through. In the original any of the major knot cities felt thematically appropriate to end Sam's run. But, there is no place in Australia or Mexico where it feels like, "Yeah, this is the place for Sam to hang up his uniform in preparation for going independent again."
>>736623095uhhh, his shelter? really hard choice
despite the tar currents being fucked and beach jumping being deactivated before terminal knot i managed to cross the plate gate back into mexico turns out i only have two orders left here
>>736623095but every city in ds1 is just a single room with a terminal.
>>736622232Sam did I tell you about the time I took my daughter to a BT hive, played loud music and got us both killed?
>>736623049Zig-sag, unironically. If you're doing that fight to S-rank: Farm Chronos. Get a grenade launcher (rockets can't be used on the bike) and spam grenades under Chronos while eating Chronos immediately after one wears off.
>>736623542>Spirit medium>can't talk to BTsWhat did Kojima mean by this?
>>736623095I don't think it has less soul at all, but it has a different tone. The first game was very sombre and serious, but the overall message of the game was incredibly positive. The second game has a way darker theme to it, but it also has a ton more "Kojima'isms" with fun interactions and easter eggs. So it's kind of a strange mix comparing the two. But I think both games show Kojima at his most brilliant and unhinged at the same time. They're some of the best games I've ever played and I wish they'd been movies instead because I think something this original, both in story and visuals, deserves a much wider audience.
>>736623767I got a stinky rank when I did it because I didn't know what to expect, all I had were shotguns and assault rifles. Just playing with the drawbridge qpid on now and they appear on some roads. managed to dodge one with the truck
>>736623461It's really the same for like 90% of places in 2 too, you can unlock a hidden scene in some optional shelters, but most if not all people who finish the game won't see most if any of them.
AIEEEEEE OTASUKE
>>736623095>>736623145Alternatively, the place you started the game. You can backtrack your opening path and go the same spot you were snoozing off with Lou. I stopped my Sam there, with no gear and backpack, taking a nap during a sunset.
>>736625101>hidden scene in some optional sheltersReally ? I thought resting in shelters worked the same as in 1, black screen and getting your stamina refilled, so I never bothered doing it in 2 because the magellan exists
>>736625135Go around the map using a coffin board, it doesn't take 50 minutes to circumvent the coast line.
>>736625316I think it shows up when you 5 star them, for example in normal gameplay you won't ever see the pizza guy scene that's become so famous, there's other optional scenes and achievements like that, but barely just the doctor let's you enter the shelter during the MSQ.
>>736622232Legit one of the worst additions to the game, not only ruining the immersion with the stupidity beyond comprehension but the worst kind of ``mimir`` there is. Hey lets add a little companion that explains the lore and bits of the game! The fucking doll NEVER shuts up trying to explain one of the most nonsensical, stupidest and garbage stories and lore ever conceived making it even more confusing just because Kojima cant write without making everything a fucking meme
>>736625398oh shit, thanks for the tip
>>736625484Oh so there isn't unique stuff when you rest in a shelter, I thought that's what you meant. It'd be neat to have unique private rooms for every prepper. But that'd be a lot of work for something most people won't ever bother to check. Hand Niggerwoman invited me to rest in their shelter once, probably because my endurance was abysmal>>736625536I wouldn't be mad if he gave useful tips but he never does. Like hey sam did you know you can slide down a long slope by sprinting and pressing the crouch button ? But no I have to hear the obvious for the nth time again today
>finish main story without digging/using any hotsprings>build every hotspring but always have Sam sing before warping backare the likes that you get after Sam sings from other players also in hotsprings doing the same thing?
>>736626352It's from the signs and structures around the hot springs
alright, cant seem to find any new deliveries even after Mexico. 252 TTW evaluations, everything built max up to herei guess its terminal knot for real this timegonna mentally prepare for this
what did kojima mean by this
>>736622232Dollman, I would have liked you so much more if you weren't used primarily as a retarded ass yellow paint stand in. Please just shut the fuck up unless speaking to me is relevant for the story. The same goes for all those extra long briefings talking down to you from the rest of the crew. Like holy shit I have done a hundred deliveries and you're still telling me how to plan my route and all about the fucking cargo. I KNOW, IT SAYS IT ON THE LOADOUT SCREEN.
>>736626758Prepare for kino, but also bring weapons, loads of them. If you skip the fights ur a faget
>>736622232whatever this is it looks stupid and i love ds1 but glad i didnt buy ds2
>>736627221best choice. DS2 shits all over DS1 lore & tone. I wish I'd never played 2
I don't like her. The way she always has this "perfect" practiced smile on makes her feel so fake to me, like she's putting on an act the entire time. It looks uncanny and makes me uncomfortable too. Not even her being pregnant made it any better for me... And that's my jam, senpai.
>>736627374>I don't like her. The way she always has this "perfect" practiced smile on makes her feel so fake to meshe is the worst character. even dollman has his moments, but this bitch is just there for jap coomers
>>736627221DS1 story is way better and it's not even close. There is one boss fight in 2 that is so intense on spectacle alone that it makes me question things, but I think that's ok. I do feel that the gameplay is better in 2, with more opportunities for fun combat, but overall, 1 mogs 2.

It explains better than me. I haven't gone to the ice flow and the game doesn't take you there beyond putting the Jeet you rescue around the same area, so you'll probably never hit that unless the game specifically tells you to go over there before the end game. But apparently it ISN'T an end-game thing.Someone in Chapter 13-14 might want to test and report back to double-confirm.

>>736629493>Apparently not. Like I said: I was able to get BPAS with a lost cargo before the end, supposedly Mr. Impossible is able to be gotten before the endgame as well:I thought so too but the Mr Impossible lost cargo wouldn't spawn in Terminal Fort Knot or East of their shelter. Either way if you're already at chapter 14 you might as well just finish the story especially with the DHV unable to travel.Personally was a waste of time for me to look for their lost cargos and that's even with the predetermined Mr Impossible ones.
>>736629493You may be able to 1 or 2 star mr impossible before the end of the story. One of the rewards after that is an upgrade to a thing you get during the final mission, so star progress might be locked until then to avoid any bugs. I'm talking out of my ass here, confirmations would be nice. I did get BPAS online before going back to mexico so I can say for sure that he is not locked to endgame
Started terminal knot mission Cant fight the mechs because aiming puts me down to 2 frames per second lmao I have a 3080 this is dumbIs there any specific setting I can just turn to lowest to prevent this

>>736630590>>736630997I've got a 3070 Ti and get lag whenever I stop zooming in on weapons. Didn't happen before the recent patch. Game takes way longer to start up now too. It ran so well on day 1.>>736631051Might have to try this, but I'm guessing it breaks save compatibility.
>>736631051AFAIK, that breaks saves if he's saved on 1.2. The patch notes mention forward saves aren't compatible on older versions.
that nirvana line makes me cringe so hard, even more so than mario and princess beach.
>>736630385I can confirm BPAS as well, as I had 41/42 at end-game.I'm just surprised a lost cargo is that far out for Mr. Impossible, given BPAS you'll probably stumble onto if you have the road built. I wouldn't even know there was cargo that far out if someone didn't mention it.
>>736631426
>still runs like absolute shit505 GAMES should have handled the port, the first game ran really smooth at max settings.I have literally tried every single solution under the sun, even the one Nexxes recommended to check the PCI slots, still stutters like crazy. And before anyone says anything, I'm running the game at the lowest settings and pretty much everything turned off including ray tracing. At least they fixed portable mode from my understanding.
>>736631110Didn't think about the saves. Yeah they likely won't work, so not worth trying if you don't want to lose progress. Game ran great for me on release, then the first patch introduced some bad stuttering. I feel like I have less of those with the second patch but they're still present. My biggest issue that the second patch introduced is my fps dropping to 45 when in the map, previously 90. So not a huge issue compared to the problems others are having, but man what the fuck are they doing with every update
>>736631552What hardware? I'm on Arch (which I use, BTW) Linux with an AMD Ryzen 5 and AMD GPU and it runs just fine for me on Very High (no MemeTX).

>>736632080I legitimately thought the game crashed the first time I got knocked out, it just sat at the black screen for so long.
>>736632080>cannot open menu and reload save when in seam
>>736631873That might be it. Sony's stuff is AMD, so it could just be Nixxes isn't up to snuff with cross-brand GPUs.I know someone was able to get launch DS2 to run on a 1060 (6GB?) card, so it shouldn't be running like shit on your card.
>>736632135I don't think I've ever been knocked out except the one time I fell off a cliff and just straight up died. It's just the game has this gay limitation where it doesn't even let you open the system menu or the map until sam is standing still and doing nothing. Sometimes it's actually faster to just force quit the game and restart it which is pretty grating.Genuinely hate these 3rd person games that try so hard to be immersive.
>>736631552DS1 definitely had some issues too. I remember getting crashes in some areas and texture flickering early on. DS2 ran great until Nixxes updated it. But I do think 505 would've done a better port. I don't like that PS5 and PC share the same server. I've noticed usernames don't get censored anymore, but I've also not seen any that would be censored. Does Sony just shadowban people with inappropriate names? Also dislike how you cannot see anybody's profile pictures.

>>736632641>Supposedly they nerfed the graphics in the latest patch for some reasonI noticed that pop-in seems very extreme now, like stuff 5 ft away now disappears and I've got everything set to high. On day 1 I got a solid 60fps at 1440p with DLAA, now I get tons of frame drops with DLSS on Performance after the 1.2 patch despite everything looking worse.
>>736632643You can actually lower the time it takes to register the hold input. Default is like 5 seconds I think which is fucking insane. Still doesn't make the experience less janky, wish I could just press the number buttons to switch to what I want.
>>736632831holy, I wish I knew sooner
>>736632454There was this one spot between the timefall farm and the porter prepper that would crash and give a weird crash report. It could be fixed by changing some obscure windows setting. Then they fixed it in DC>>736632653I usually repair roads around when I'm doing deliveries in the area, can't stand them looking old and busted
>>736632831shit that works for opening weapon menu? i figured it was just for stuff like opening cargo, private room, or repair vehicle prompts
>>736632919>There was this one spot between the timefall farm and the porter prepper that would crash and give a weird crash reportI remember that one. I avoided that spot like the plague. I don't think they ever patched it in the original, which is kind of shitty, but I do remember it being fine in DC.
>>736632641Apparently the patch even affects the PS5 version, so it's likely something KJP/Sony did and not Nixxes.

Without RT I get 90 to 100.At 1440p, I get 70 to 80 without RT, didn't tested with RT because my 1440p screen sucks ass for gaming so I played on 1080p.My only issue was around the part where the brigands get a bombs and you to collect them, for some reason I had massive FPS drops while aiming during that mission, which would last for a few seconds. After that, smooth sailing.

>sam, steer clear of the magellan's canon firesam: https://youtu.be/1OSlzdXlmNQ
I'm halfway through the game and very much trying to avoid spoilers, but I want to read DS2 threads. I feel behind... Can't even thread watch this, because some n(ice friend)igger will on cue spoil the ending or something. But yeah so far my experience matches of others, too easy and streamlined compared to 1, nicer scenery, worse performance, and also the story and characters feels lacking compared to 1. Maybe because there is nothig novel in it anymore, I hop in the truck and start optimize-maxxing, don't even need online to build all the roads. Don't even need roads, or walking on foot anymore. It's more of the same, BT's are nothing in 2, bad guys only need 2 headshots then gg. I'll still play your game Kojimbo, just got my first order to go up the mountain. It already looks shittier than the mountain in central UCA.
>>736623095i hate how they spent all these resources making a huge map and yet you still interact with 1 prepper per station, you never see a single city on the inside, fucking hack
>>736635706as someone that has avoided spoilers since the launch on ps5 you are not missing anything, the story is predictable as fuck, downright samey as DS1 and the evil guy gets defeated the moment he's introduced, literally, and then you just do a meme boss fight with higgs again, the story is a complete nothing burger
>>736635337It wasn't hard to set up zip lines. I just carried a bunch of PCC lvl2s with me as I did normal gameplay. I set up the zips as I went and now I can navigate to all the different shelters within minutes. Feels like cheating but oh well.

>>736648327>Anyway, I unlocked "Mr. Impossible"/the Twins and quickly 4.25 starred them.Could look up where their lost cargo are located. One of them was on the top of the mountain near the black scientist which was a nice coincidence since I already had my zipline set up there.Could also repeated the Lone Commander -> Mr Impossible express order since it's one of the fastest ones with minimal zipline investment.
taking photos of Sam's aging waifus in the ship is cute.
>>736648597Lone Commander is S items, most tips are "get XL for more likes/faster leveling?"Also I got three of the hands. I don't know if there is one for the Motherhood, but I'll zip over there probably tomorrow if I don't boot up again soon to try to grind a few more deliveries out. But I know once I hit like 5 star, I gotta do one last side-order for them to cap them.Honestly, I'm a bit more upset with the South-East Preppers. Four starring was fast, until you hit F6-7-8 where 4-5 stars goes from like 4000 to 10,000.
>Trying to five star everyone>Trying to 100%Don't do this. Just finish the Adventurer/Ghost Hunter missions and call it quits.
>>736649435I'm nearly done suffering, I might as well see it through. The others weren't THIS bad, but good god these last six are painful. Mostly because there ISN'T ENOUGH FUCKING ORDERS for 80% of the preppers in the game.

>>736649435Pizza Chef is worth the 5 star
>>736649491Yeah, if you do it in the middle of the game. Which I did. But after the story is finished and you've just got Ghost Hunter's final mission, there's no point in unlocking the janky pizza-fu moves.
when do you finally unlock the southern edge regions so you can finish the roads and rail?
>>736649242The bigger deliveries take longer and is more risky. I'd rather do the smaller, but safer ones inbetween my other deliveries. Honestly just look up spoilers. My only regret is not doing it sooner and harder because the Adventurer was such a nigger to do.>>736649435>Ghost Hunter needs qpid disabled>Adventurer gives you nothing for his 5 starYea nah they're last.
>>736649527His 5 star also gives the pizza outfit which if you equip the full outfit you can rest at any prepper at any star rank
>>736649613You can do roads and rails outside the chiral network
>>736649628Wait, really? I could've slept with the Twink (Pioneer) earlier than 5-star!?
>>736649527If you 5 Star the Pizza Chef you can unlock a Pac Man mini game to play on the map
>>736649613>613â–¶>>736649662You can do the roads out of network, it just costs a bit more materials to do. Doing them early actually makes delivering some items easier. Hell, Dollman in that last section will say to build the monorail and roads before you finish anyway, lmao. But it's after F5.
>>736649662the material costs are skyhigh, i'm not going to and from the mines 15 times for each little piece.
>>736649693Yeah. Pizza cap, pizza outfit design and pizza boots if all equipped at once let you rest at any shelter

>>736649776He's modelled after a real Sony executive
>>736649628Oh yeah. I actually used that all the time during the mountain sections of the game. It was more fun not having to rely on the DHV, plus it looks great in the snow. Still, it adds to the point that Pizza Chef is best to 5 star early, and not worth it when you've finished everything else.
>>736649776HEY DUDE I UPPED YOUR MATERIALS I DON'T FUCKING NEED EM DUDE HAHA DUDE
>>736649718Really?
>>736649747Oh damn. I wish I knew that way earlier than now.I do know if you're near death the preppers will offer you a choice of staying with them to heal up/rest.
>>736649776He's a Twink. They're brats until you break them.
>>736649796>not worth it when you've finished everything else.I'd say as long as you have at least one more thing to do, it is worth it to be able to rest and recover in the place between each of their deliveries.
>>736649838I managed to get a few preppers to recharge my batteries and give me free shit a couple times, but I never figured out what triggers it.
>>736649825Fuck you, you fucking faggot! I hate you!>>736649794>He's modelled after a real Sony executive Really? That's an odd choice.
>>736649829https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7QEgJmYQfKsIt's actually an Easter egg after you 5 star him
>>736649885i got gold boots from a prepper :)
>>736649740If the DHV isn't locked, just move materials to it and zip it to the nearest road prepper. It's tedious but not THAT bad. Especially if you use a truck, load it up to max with ceramic/metal and just go along until you're empty.
>>736649473Honestly it felt undeserved. In the first game, you were going uphill on foot through the rain through a narrow BT filled valley. Then you hit the crest of the hill, see Port Knot in the distance, the rain stops, and the song comes on and the camera zooms out. All the tension from the previous section just washes away and it feels so much more rewarding.
>>736649885recharge batteries is when sam's battery is below 50% or something, rest are dependent on cargo condition and the amount you carry.

>>736622232>it was established in DS1 that Sam had a partner called Lucy who was also his therapist, dealing with his issues regarding his his repatriate ability and his aphenphosmphobia>they got romantic, married and supposedly Lucy got pregnant with Sam's baby>She found out some truth regarding the death stranding and ends up killing herself, causing a voidout in the city she was in along with the baby and Sam, he survived of course because of his repatriate ability>it was established this is why he was full on loner and depressed in the beginning of the first game, he lost his wife and kid and why he was so caring of Lou>Now i'm in the part where we found out some truth regarding Neil Vana, turns out Lucy was also his therapist>Turns out also that she was also romantic with Neil, straight up cheated, got pregnant and told Sam straight to his face all of it and that the kid wasn't hisLucy was always a piece of shit seeing how she just killed herself, her baby and thousands of people in a city but now we find out she did this to Sam too? Then again i guess Kojima is now retconning that seeing how the Visions kinda show that she got killed by Bridges but still. And now with Neil also searching for Lou, i would be extremely pissed if the same BB from DS1 is the same baby that Neil and Lucy had, making Sam pretty much a cuck.I really hope its not going the way i think its going, because man. >>736636075I feel like the biggest spoiler of the game is telegraphed so hard that most people figure it out super duper early. The trailers made doubly sure that almost the whole story was spoiled, too. The only things I wasn't sure on were Charlie and what was going to happen with APAS and the President. All of those things get resolved in a single cutscene.

After thinking about it for a bit I have come to the conclusion that for DS1 they let Kojima do his own thing and for 2 they made him do what they wanted, hence all the jewish propaganda and callbacks to MGS.
>>736657750what
>>736657769DS1 is Kojima doing what he wantedDS2 is Kojima being told to make a sequel and put specific stuff in it
Here it fucking is. There's some massive Kojambles brewing somewhere. Are you sure you know what's happening?
>>736657806like?
>>736639085I guess I think it both needs tard wrangling, but at the same time I enjoy watching him being fully unleashed.I compare Kojima with Paul McCartney when it comes to which ideas he takes all the way to fruition.I think they both just see every single idea they get in their heads all the way to the end. That's how you get a guy who both writes "Maxwell Silverhammer" and "Yesterday". I think it's the same with Kojima. He hyper focuses on every idea he gets and takes it all the way for better AND worse.I also think one of the best ways to really enjoy these games is to not really think or question what's happening while it's happening, but just take the experience in. Kinda like how Sam sometimes goes "what the hell is that?" and somebody goes "ah, that's just x, y and z" and he just goes "oh... ok" and moves on.Either way, I still think both Death Stranding 1 and 2 show Kojima at his absolute best and a pillar of the industry.
>>736632131My level 2 roads took 100 hours to break down completely. Watch degradation be tied to framerate.
do you get a special SSS post if you upgrade all roads to level 2?
>>7366578761's story was better because it had the advantage of being the first. It gets to spend a lot of time on espousing how the world works, which Kojima is good at. The ending was also inspired, and very emotionally satisfying. DS2 has to tell a story within the world the first game set up. Unfortunately, Kojima breaks his own rules to often in the process. Fragile can't jump now because she just can't. Also she's dead but she won't die until she feels like it. There's no reason at all for Sam to get memory bleeds from Neil's past. You say the best way to enjoy games is to just turn your brain off. People aren't retarded. They can't just do that when they see contradictions. Lord help them when the Charlie dance scene happens and the BB theme of the first game gets dragged through the mud for the Nth time. And that ending, wew. Not good. I don't think many people liked seeing all their shit in Australia ruined, the DHV a wreck, and Lou taking up smoking. She's staring at a plate gate, with the implication that we're just gonna do all this again. No grand plan has been hatched. No serious dent against the death stranding was made. The difference between this and Sam walking into the normal rain with Lou is night and day.

>>736625135It's not that hard if you have a solid road and monorail network, you just use the monorail to ship the cargo while you teleport ahead and grab more and then use a boost skeleton or pre placed vehicle to gun it over to the shipping location and head to the next cargo piece, repeat til you've done it all and then take the monorail from terminal knot to the distribution center near the impossible twins. You'll finish it with like 5 minutes to spare. The only challenge is getting the cargo out of the camps without it getting damaged by gunfire, bt hologrenades are probably the best bet.

>>736658584There is not a single order out of all 540 that you NEED ziplines for in DS1. You can get all LLL without ziplines. Yes I have done it.
>>736658792A bit behind the chronobiologist shelter. Best spring. You get an SSS post about it
>>736658214I don't think the story was better in 1, it was just like I mentioned earlier different and the message was different too. I think both are amazing in their own right. 1 was a lot more solitary while 2 was Sam both coping with unbearable loss and moving away from the solitary life.2 is a lot darker in some ways, especially with the cope of loss theme, but 1 is dark in different ways.2 has the benefit of being able to brush over things more than the first game, while the first game has the benefit of being "the first" and getting deeper into the, how shall I put it, "the death stranding" aspects of the world.I didn't mean you should turn your brain off, I mean if you just take in the experience at first without lingering too long with questions then I think you'll take everything that's thrown at you better. But by all means talk and question it afterwards like we're doing right now. It's just when the game gets so far out, constantly straddling the line of genius and insane, then I think you should just take it all in first time around.I don't understand why you and some others I've read have such a problem with Tomorrow looking at a new plate gate. The whole point of Death Stranding 2 was "we only connected America, but the rest of the world is waiting too". They tell you in the game that they want to connect the entire world and establish contact like before everything went to shit. They even talk about the emergence of a new plate gate the more you connect Australia. It makes total sense that they'd keep on keeping on connecting the world when new plate gates allow them to move to different parts of the world. The ending of both games were good.
>>736658749The DS1 ending was a serious tear jerker. Reedus was really acting. DS2 ending was just "Yeah", by comparison. Kind of pissed me off because I felt like a load of nothing had just happened.
>>736629493I saw some mr impossible lost cargo show up during the trip to the plate gate in the finale, so yeah, it unlocks before the post game, but just barely.
>>736630071>especially with the DHV unable to travel.Do people actually use the DHV to get around? I never bother, I've left it next to terminal knot since the end of the story. If I want to get across the map fast, I just beach jump. I suppose it could have been helpful in the final Mr impossible mission.
>>736658856To follow on from this. I'm a certified zipline hater. Sure building ziplines is fun. But using ziplines is for low iq mental retards. Just click one button to play game.I've completed DS1 with 540LLL like 8 times at this point and I don't even use zips anymore.Literal brainlet mode.
>>736659025I mainly used it to shuttle around ceramics.
>>736659025I used it a lot for road building and monorails. Other than that I just move it to wherever I am and send sam in his private room before I'm done playing for the day.
>>736659025Why would I move time forward by 30mins and damage my structures by getting into the Magellan every time. Transponders are a thing. And as you said, just beach jump everywhere as needed. The Magellan is for transporting your materials and your vehicles around the map.
>>736659025It's good for moving vehicles and large amounts of cargo quickly. The PS5 version of the game used to have a glitch where you could carry your backpack in your hand, which let you beach jump with cargo. I wish they didn't patch that out.
>>736659097Are you sure structures degrade when you sleep?
>>736658902>DS2 ending was just "Yeah", by comparison. That's because he was lobotomised for 90% of the game's duration. DS1 Reedus had stuff to do, because Sam was a flawed character but fierce. DS2 killed his will to live and the only acting that was expected of him was the equivalent of late-Bruce Willis movies>yeah>cool>uhuh>hm>...DS2 is a game that didn't need to exist. They come up with a new antagonist and Kojishit still wants to recylce the main antagonist of the first game. Boring
>>736659138If its like DS1 then yes. I barely ever rest my Sam because of this. Only using hotsprings. Just like in ds1.
>>736658440hey that's exactly what I did, kek
>>736623095I really like some of the improvements this game did, but at the end of the day i still prefer the first one, even if the pacing is worse and the final chapters of the game are 80% cutscenes.
>>736658886The plot needs to refocus on overcoming the death stranding. America wasn't even that connected to the rest of the world when it did shit like the first moon landing. There wasn't even an internet! Lets follow through on the emails from the Aeronautical Engineer and figure out how to get into space again. Connect everything at once that way and then see if people can escape the stranding all together by leaving Earth.
so what exactly is going on in the epilogue cutscene? looking at how every road and infrastructure is in ruins you'd think it's been at least several decades yet Lou still looks pretty much the same
>>736644648I brought one to the final neil encounter, trivialized most of it.
>>736659368This better be a "no vehicles" playthrough like I did once. Because otherwise you can fit way more bodies in the truck plus one in the cabin.
>>736659376That level of decay could happen in a month within this world. I doubt it's even a year later. Lou logically wouldn't just have a handful of pictures from the period of the game plus 1 photo of Rainy's newborn baby. If serious time had passed, there'd be pics of Rainy's baby growing up, too.
>>736651086>Voiced by Jesus Christ What did Kojimbo mean by that?
>>736646349Get some rep with the metagenomicist to get the chiral creature hat.
>>736645065It works pretty well when you don't aggro more than one at a time. I farmed a shit ton of crystals up on the mountain and spent it all to make ceramics.
>>736644648but it cant kill chiral creatures lol
>>736659376What the fuck was up with the magellan being in ruin in the sea
>>736659434It's in the first map of the game. I had the floating carriers because of the unlock everything mod, but I hadn't bothered with vehicles yet. It was just a fun little NG+ playthrough where I did dumb shit with mods and cheat tables. Fun fact, if you use a cheat table to just delete a body, the game doesn't count that as cremating them. The countdown timer in the background still ticks away, and Die-Hardman still nags you about burning the bodies even though there's no bodies to burn. I eventually got a voidout that way and learned something. After you get a corpse induced voidout, the game deletes any remaining bodies on the map as a sort of sanity check. So really, you don't need to bother with burning bodies at all. You just get a jump scare 8 hours after you started murdering folks and then everything is chill.

And the whole bit where she buys guns from the pizza chef is just left completely unaddressed by any other character.
>>736658902I've never liked the story of DS1 but i loved every single character. I liked the setting, the fantasy, the lore, the tone, i liked the conversations and the scenes but not the story. DS2 disappoints me in the fact there are less character moments or they are shorter or too matter of fact.In agreement that "DS1's soul" has been lost though DS2 has its own different soul but Reedus did play a better Sam in DS1.To me it's clear we're now meant to play both games back to back, furthermore DS2's APAS plot is a logical consequence of the chiral network plot so something happened not nothing. At least DS2's last chapter makes me want to finish the game so that i can see it again unlike with DS1 where i don't ever want to finish the game ever again. Fetus is ugly dude, don't touch it ew.

>>736659309On the pacing of DS2. Playing through the main story very fast helps because in condenses it and it feels like more is happening. Delivering for 5 hours and then getting a 45sec skit makes it unrewarding, even boring. Works better when the story bits happen in quick succession.

>>736659916Funny, I don't think I'll ever replay DS2. I played it once, and then watched a 4h20m speedrun on 2.5x. That's enough for me. I'll definitely come back to DS1 again some day, though. It's got that soul and the map is more fun to overcome.
>>736660096It would be pure kino if it was revealed that Pekora was actually Higgs all along.

>>736659368You missed all the side text about how humanity is overcoming the death stranding in DS2 and no longer being at its mercy, it's not even subtext. The world is adapting and making use of the tar and BTs. The ghost mechs, the creature hats, the tar healing, the chronobiots, the tar and chiralium cannons, the capture grenades, the tar jammers, the beach jump structures, the 21minutes research, the plate gates, the DHV Magellan, Tomorrow. Humanity is evolving to master the death stranding and is no longer surviving.

>>736660159Why is it so much harder to stay on the energy zone in this game bros. It was easy peasy in DS1. I find myself wandering off of it without even trying in this game. Especially with the coffin.
>>736660271>because you WILL want the better weaponsFound this out very quick, it basically makes it mandatory to get a large number of preppers to at least 4 stars and that takes a long time.Still what I asked for and glad TTW was added
>>736651487A lot of the lucy lore in DS1 gets retconned, which makes sense since her diary takes fucking forever to unlock and it's hidden behind a ton of rng, so most people probably never even knew it existed.
>>736660435My DS4's left joystick has a mind of it's own now, but I've not found it too much harder than 1 to stay in it. Kojima even added an auto drive system, but I don't like it because it's too slow. I do think the energy zone line is a bit less visible than in DS1's roads.
>>736651974I didn't bother with monorails til post game and so many minerals had been contributed by others that not a single layer required more than a thousand of either resource, was very convenient.
>>736660473What are you talking about? There's no RNG in DS1. Even the locations of BTs are fixed, making it possible to plan a route through them.
>>736660610Monorails in the bottom left of the map were pretty useful for a number of story missions.
>>736660656I meant bottom right.
>>736660276If you're talking about nuking a city - that's just terrorism and nobody would've lived there anymore, voidout crater or not. I was thinking about his powers. He can summon BTs but only does so to annoy Sam, but alright, fair enough.
>>736660451I didn't really remove my backpack for combat until after I finished the story and boy was that a huge fucking mistake. It would've made boss fights so much more enjoyable. Instead they were fucking miserable and made me want to kys myself, and I can't wait to do them again on TTW again. The only fight I'm not looking forward to again is the third Neil fight, but I was advised to spam chronobiotes for it so I'll just do that>>736660473It's not locked behind rng, it's locked behind the completion of specific orders and/or usb sticks

>>736660662You should probably take some fish pills, because your memory isn't doing well. The voidout at the start of Death Stranding is triggered by Higgs summoning the BTs that flip your truck and catch Igor.
>>736660189You'll miss DS2's gameplay features, you'll be back.
>>7366607183rd Neil fight isn't too hard if you're packing loads of autolock rocket launchers. I keep like five of them when entering fights and New York reload them.
>>736660885Was that revealed in some letter? Haven't read those.
>where's the rest of your band huh?>you and me sam>we could've been a great band
>>736660271You know i don't think it does on TTW when i know what i'm doing, a BT fight can take 5minutes.No pointless running, more shooting keep up the DPS, dodge accurately. Brutal fights on my 1st playthrough took longer than TTW fights on my 2nd playthrough.
>>736660987It's in the cutscene.
>>736658886The problem isn't the plate gate, it's showing all the infrastructure in ruins and human porters replaced by automated ones. It implies that everything APAC was trying to pull actually succeeded even though it was seemingly defeated in the same fucking cut scene it was introduced. That whole plotline was pretty poorly established in the first place so saying "oh actually we just doomed all of australia by connecting them up to APAC and now we're gonna move on and do the same thing in eurasia" is a very unsatisfying ending.
>>736623145No. That place is dead. Lou is all grown up without Sam getting to see and help her grow. Sam and Lou spent less than a year there anyways. You only visit it all of 3 times regardless, and 2 of those times aren't positive. And just like >>736625267 suggestion, it doesn't work because it would be being trapped in the past, and for what? The first game you can end it at a place you made connections with and feel like, "Yeah, Sam and Lou are moving on, to better things." In DS2 it is like, "Yeah, it doesn't feel like you made a connection with any of these places despite the 5 stars, and the 1 or 2 places that would otherwise feel right actually feel like the connection was severed and so it feels wrong."There's just something missing. I really think part of it is how stingy the standard orders are throughout the main part of the game, with the majority of them that come available being post game. In the first game if you wanted to 5-star shelters before moving on with the story you'd load up lots of standard orders 3-6 times and really do your job as a porter. In DS2 you only get to do 1-3 standard orders total, and then you deliver lost cargo or other players cargo if you want to grind out that 5th star because there are just not a lot of standard orders that you can load up on or that are even required.
>>736660965I didn't have the guided rocket launchers yet, only the regular. I just wanted to advance the story. Big mistake>>736661034The posts were about the pacing of the story. You get a crumb of story every now and then if you take your time doing things. They clearly designed the game with doing the story as soon as possible in mind, which kinda falls apart as a design choice in TTW because why wouldn't you want to unlock the better weapons ? Sure you can still manage with low tier weapons but why would you ever do that outside of a self imposed challenge. At least the corpus tells you what you unlock next when reading about everyone. In any case the story could've been paced a lot better
>>736661286If this is only a problem on TTW, then you should remember that TTW didn't exist until like a month ago. The game isn't balanced around it. Some prior experience with the game -or a willingness to suffer- is expected.
>>736661507I've seen complaints about the story pacing from people who didn't play on TTW so it's not exclusive to it
>>736661237APAC was not at fault for any of this. It was APAS, a subsidiary of APAC which used the expansion of the chiral network to its advantage from within the corporation. A valid misunderstanding..but, it's the theme of DS2 and i hope my answer alleviates your concern somewhat.
>>736660139Why would you torture yourself
man this is a good looking game
>>736660718>it's locked behind the completion of specific ordersWhen I played DS1, I couldn't unlock some of them because the orders I needed to do to get them just would not ever show up. That's what I meant by RNG. Maybe there's a better understanding now about how to force specific orders to show up, but at the time the general recommendation was just to do all the orders available at a location and then wait for a refresh. Finishing the diary was the final thing I wanted to do in DS1, but I never could because I just couldn't get the orders to show up.

>>736661604You didn't actually address the problem at all. You just corrected the terminology being used. APAS wanted to stagnate humanity by replacing human contact with automation, we see that happen in the ending.
>>736661635I did it with DS1 and doing it here as well. I got 1200 hours on DS1 through 8 full playthroughs doing 540LLL each time. 3of those were offline. One was a No Roads/Vehicles/Ziplines run.DS2 will get the same treatment. I'll go online on my second run. Once again it seems that the offline run is far far more rewarding in the sense that the entire network is built and managed by YOU. Online fuzzy wuzzy feel good mode I can do later.

>>736661238Ending it on the magellan would make sense, but the fact you never get to interact with your team on it of your own volition and rainy and tomorrow are both off on a trip in the post game anyway makes it feel like it isn't much of a home. >>736661959In the SSS rainy says she and tomorrow are going on a trip to a medical center so I just kind of assumed that's the excuse for why we don't get to have meaningful interactions with any characters in the post game.
>>736623837I actually like the Kojima-isms, when he is not pushing Hollywood feminism "Men are the cause of (and apparently solutions to) all of life's problems. Girls get it done (by having men do the job)." Seriously, Sam could have pushed back just a tiny little bit, maybe bring up that the only EE he knows was a woman throwing a melty because she had some bad dreams as a kid and was stuck on a beach and so decided every other living thing should die for it until she got a hug. Otherwise Kojima's quirks and being willing to say, "It's a video game," goes into the so silly it's good territory for me. Hell, I even liked DH's dance, even if it was very clearly just Jenkin's going, "Hey, I want to dance!" and Kojima going, "I like the way you think!"I've only ever had issues with his inability to introduce exposition more naturally, which DS2 actually does better than most of his games but still has characters overly explain information to other characters that should already know the information in unnatural ways. I think Kojima is terrified of the Death of the Author and doesn't want the story he is telling to be misinterpreted at all, so he is determined to look right at the audience and say, "No, this is what all this means and how it works. Don't theorize. Don't guess. Don't head canon. And to make sure you don't I am going to have characters explain this like a class lecture even if every character shouldn't need or even want 90% of this information."

I love action games, but kojima shouldn’t have catered to the action fans with this game. The game should have doubled down on incentivizing players to avoid combat entirely, playing like a rat with fewer guns, more distraction tools, deeper stealth mechanics. bosses should have been spectacular puzzles, like the gimmick bosses in Sekiro, not just bullet sponges you chip away at for minutes. what I really wanted is a hardcore survival hiking experience, where only very experienced players can take out entire bases or those with endgame gear have a real advantage, but the focus should have been on battling the terrain and hazards
>>736662516FUCK YOU BLOODYGOOD DAY>>736662697>didn't notice until your postIt's so doubly over
>>736662516Yes saar I will do the needful
>>736662483Death Stranding is hardly autismo. It's quite welcoming to casual players. Stuff like the battletech board game actually makes you consider logistics. Then there's the eurotruck simulators. Then there's X4 Foundations, which has such an autistic economy that players frequently mistake supply disruptions as bugs.
>>736662675There's already 3 different types of fast travel. Man I miss when it was just Fragile's jumps in DS1.
>>736662713The cool bosses of mgs1 and 2 this not, thats for sure. And yes, the combat is way more fun now with being able to fly through the air while firing your weapons. But it should have been a bigger focus on the delivering, and the terrain should have been harder than ds1, not easier.

>>736663115But seriously though WHAT IN THE FUCK was dollman thinking taking his daughter to a BT like that. The whole cutscene I was like, this guy is fucking retarded. His misfortune is all of his own doing. What an ass. Your job as a father is to protect your daughter, with your life if necessary. This guy does the opposite. I hope Sam's crotch gets real smelly when he is trekking and I hope dollman hates it when he has to smell the stench
>>736662713Just walk around the fucking camps then.
>>736663036I've also had structures disappear. They weren't built in the way of anything. My generator in front of the tar therapist just vanished one day. Hope they look into it and fix it at some point because while it's not gamebreaking it's quite bothersome
>>736649776He's too obnoxiously 4th wall breaking. Seriously. Even for a Kojima game he is just too much. Maybe because he can't act. I don't know. But he doesn't work.
>>736663051Try elite dangerous if you like space
>vehicle destroyed by a considerate BT
>>736663195>slowly walks towards sam>smile like when she said princess beach>kept you waiting, huh?>push sam into water>doesn't elaborate
>>736649776Who?
>>736663195>>736663430>have to make a very long trek through deep tar to reach her>"Kept you wading, huh?"
>>736663357Miss me with shit bro Pioneer is a good zoomer.
>>736663519>sam stands up in his bed>amelie's there>kept you waking huh
>>736663519>>736663574I could not possibly be mad
>>736663574>preparing Lou's baby mash>kept you baking huh
Dollman surviving voidouts triggered by Sam makes no sense.
>>736651487There's more to it, but it also does cheapen the message of the first game and themes of connection and reconnecting with humanity with the reveals for unnecessary soap opera bullshit. But that is Kojima for you. He can't leave an idea alone. He has to recycle it because he is no doubt constantly nagged with a thought of, "What if I had executed the scene/interaction/plot beat like this instead?"
>>736663519kek, I wish
>>736663696>dog mine jumps and explodes on sam>kept you barking, huh?
>>736662173Personally the only one that I did extra quests was the paranormal guy, which unlocked me the ghost motorist achievement, but didn't do any more quests, I went purely for the MSQ which made me finish the game 10 hours under the how long to beat recorded time, if I started doing secondary quests I wouldn't have finished the game ever.
Boise..it was a good thread. Decent keks.
>>736663919>completely dominate her in a chess game>kept you mating, huh?
>>736663519Heh.
>>736663984Huuuh
Well, this franchise is done, I guess. I mean there's no where for it to go, storywise. >UCA is fine>Australia is fine>5 more games about connecting the remaining continents is all we can doLuckily, Kojima is switching to a new game. Physint.
>>736664134a prequel set in the immediate aftermath of the death stranding is fertile ground for kojima kinoalso nothing wrong with moving on to something new, could be something even better than ds
>>736664134>PhysintNotMGS*
>>736658214>She's staring at a plate gate, with the implication that we're just gonna do all this again.Worst part for me was the smirk. That fucking smirk, like she has no idea what it means to actually be a porter in the Death Stranding world. It's what pisses me off about the girl bossing of modern day, and the actresses it ruins. A man would look either determined or resigned, but he would not smirk like, "Hey, it's no big deal. Not like there are dangers. Not like 1 slip up could cause a void out and either kill people or make it harder for them to maintain what little connection with the rest of humanity they have." No, for a female character it is always either a smirk of, "This is nothing," or a bitchy scowl of, "The world is going to pay, because I'm a bad bitch and everyone else is WRONG!" It's the emotional and acting depth of a child. It undermines everything. If she's the protagonist of DS3 then DS3 is a no buy, no play for me.
>>736664125My arms would get cold though.
>mars red suit lost all color because stayed outside for a while without resting>go to survivalist camp and beat them to a pulp >suit red again from both their blood and mine
>>736664323She should have gone to the chiral kitchen. Whip up some dolphin tuna for the real porters.
>>736659172>They come up with a new antagonist and Kojishit still wants to recylce the main antagonist of the first game. BoringAgreed. Higgs would have worked better as a surprise guest at the end trying to take advantage of the chaos between Drawbridge and APAS, instead of being so center stage. The APAS villain should have been the primary focus instead of being hinted at, ignored for 90% of the game, and then revealed and defeated within 10 minutes in a semi-interactive cutscene so Higgs could be the focus. Higgs whole metal jam schtick would have worked better if he hadn't been the clear primary antagonist the entire game.
>>736659583That might not actually be the Magellan. We don't know if the Magellan is truly a 100% custom built ship, or if it is some kind of standardized design that was modified to work on the tar.
>>736664758Great another ebil gobernment "will they won't they" conspiracy plot. Shove that shit in the background please, it wouldn't have been interesting.
>>736664906It's the only DHV in Australia. It's obviously our Magellan.
>>736661910Yeah, kind of how I am feeling too. Might just have to do that, find a random peak with a good view. A game all about connections and don't feel connected to a single place.
>>736665230The DHV god damned crash when coming back from the beach and the cryptolarva implies at least 2 years passed before the crew woke up, if not a decade.
>>736665230Again, don't actually know that. The world we trek through is not the actual full world, it is purposely condensed and abstracted, as the cut scenes reveal as they show coast lines, mountain ranges, etc that we never see in the game.
Sam....its not easy being me.... everyone around me always got to eat like pigs. They never put on weight. But due to my chiral allergy I could not stop gaining mass. Sam. Do you know why they call me Fat Assman?
