the real issue is that rosalina has too much canon lore to be linked to peach and the rest of the main setting so directly. Rosalina is a centuries, possibly millennia old being whose mother died over a hundred years ago. In order to share the same mother, Peach was born over a hundred years ago. In order to fit things like baby mario + baby peach into the timeline baby mario is now marios grandfather at least, and the current mario is trying to get with the woman who loved his grandfather.
