Just look at this thread, full of proud shit eaters who don't ask questions and just get excited to the next product.
It's clear that they're just creating artificial barriers of entry to sell the latest expensive hardware, don't you find funny how the era of badly optimized games started at the same time where graphics as a whole reached the plateau(aroung 2015).
Realizing that Raytracing was hitting it's plateau they had to come up with a new thing while at the same time making the last one worse.

RE Engine games prime their visuals for the current console hardware, so Raytracing is specially gimped because they're trying to avoid making it too performance intensive for a PS5/XSX. Shit has to run on even a Series S after all. The result is that even on High, default ray tracing is fucking gimped as shit and kneecapped to console spec. They're basically locking extra functionality behind Path Tracing as an NVIDIA lobbying incentive to get people to buy expensive graphics cards.
Some mods and tweaks can get more out of RT than these games normally allow for, though, highlighting just how much Capcom intentionally holds back from the consumer for the sake of console parity. Without mods Leon's face here would be lacking a lot of the contact shadowing, though I did use a mod for the outfit itself. People are already tweaking Requiem RT to similar results, shit is painfully constrained for the sake of it, especially since RT options are literally just "Low" and "High".

Like I've been playing Death Stranding 2 and the raytracing AO and Reflections is barely noticeable unless you pixel hunt on top of eating into my framerate that I turned it off.
