>>736636240I'd remove the dark pattern from my underwear (I have severe anal leakage).
Advertisements, like your own post, fag.
None of my games have any of these.
>>736636293Talking about something doesn't necessarily mean it's an advertisement because its subject is mentioned as a byproduct. You could say any mention of anything is advertisement in that case.
Whichever one whose abscence would end the gacha industry the quickest, please!
Which is the "getting half of your abomination paid by Larry" part?
>>736636371So all of the above?
people voluntarily giving their money in exchange for in game benefits is not a negative experience for them
>>736636371Probably monetary patterns then, without money to siphon from paypiggies with P2W and such shit there would be no strong incentive to implement all these unfun features rooted in the other squares to frustrate the players
>>736636359Based Healthy Game Enjoyer
>>736636240the temporal one is the one that gets me the most.
>>736636290Do some Kegals, Anon.
>>736636641The game could be getting the player used to spending money, encouraging them spend more in the future. If you buy premium currency you'll want to continue even pass a point where you would normally stop.
>>736636240jews
Probably social dark patterns. I remember when Farmville was popular on Facebook and everyone spammed Farmville stuff to get more rewards. If I play a game it should be contained to the game. Pokemon Go is also kind of annoying but not as bad.
>>736636240Monetary patterns are the root of all these others, so that one.
>>736636240Removing the monetary one would devastate the profitability of the industry, resulting in a mass exodus of the business suits that warped the game industry into what it is today.
>>736636641paying money for things that should be earnable purely through gameplay is negative
>>736636240Temporal. Kill Gacha. Behead Gacha.
>>736636240Get rid of the guild shit. Make all content soloable. Make it just scale for groups but don’t offer specific rewards for group instances
>>736638368That's your opinion. It's wrong, but you are still entitled to it.
>>736636290Hot.
>>736636240Monetary is easily the worst that doesn't have to be part of the system. Temporal is bad, but once monetary is removed the other problems would be disincentived as well except for games that are built to be grindy as part of it's appeal. Social isn't much different then any friend group. Psychological is just bullshit, anyone is invested if they want to do something.
>>736638361Bingo. Kill the suits, preferably violently and brutally.
>>736638594And sticky.
>>736638771psychotic communist filth
>>736638617>Psychological is just bullshitI think the category includes old arcade games that would discreetly cheat or spike in difficulty to get more quarters out of you. I remember reading that mobile games do something similar.
>>736638529literally every other thing on the list is in service of getting you (or others) to spend money
>>736636240The money one is generally the one that hurts otherwise good games. Completion badges and shit are good for showing what you have done in-game and what you should try to do next. I don't see a lot of games worth playing that have daily rewards or friend spam shit.
All online games are the equivalent of Instagram for normalfags. If you don’t play 100% offline, single-player games like JRPGs, I don’t think you can even be considered human at this point.
>>736638918They violated the NAP by ruining my hobby. They get what they deserve.
>>736636240Unlocks in roguelitesIf your game doesn't at least have the Balatro "unlock everything" option I assume you hate me
>>736639020>companies shouldn't try to make money
>>736640775If it's not transparent and ethical.
>>736639263Yeah i used to play mmos as filler between single player games but now theyre so unplayable i just goon instead
>>736636240As others have said the Monetary pattern is the root of all the other problems. Remove that and you cripple these shit games out of existence - if it can't survive that change it doesn't deserve to have existed to begin with.
>>736636240Grinding, because the others generally don't touch worthwhile games. Grinding fucked up games that could have been good.
>>736636240I quit playing gacha but gachas have all four, of course they do.
>>736636240Whats a example of a Social Dark Pattern game, I'm curious.
>>736642248>social obligation>guildsMMOs but only if you own a time machine
>>736642248Would trading be a thing? I guess something like TF2 or Diablo gear trading?
>>736636240Temporal and monetary has to go, the rest can stay.
>>736642248Facebook was full of them. Generally you'd find a gramma playing Farmville who got suckered in by it.
Temporal feels like it's the worst to me, as you might not know about it going into a game, and sometimes it doesn't even feel that bad at the start; but eventually I think it builds resentment, so it's a double edged sword for the developer. Monetary is mainly just gacha shit these days, so you know to stay away from it up front, but otherwise it'd be the worst. Social seems to have been abandoned as a path, but maybe I'm not exposed to it. Psychological could be bad but I don't think there's really enough value to be gained right now for it to have really negative effects.
>>736636240removing the monetary dark patterns would also fix all of the other ones because the others only exist to bait you into spending money
>>736639272Man what the fuck does the NAACP have to do with this?
>>736645809kek
>>736636240All of these look like shit you don't want in your games if you are playing them
Studying all of these so I can add them to my game, thanks bros
>>736636240All feeds back to monetary, so monetary, retard. Every single one of these are trying to get you to spend money or become monetizable.
>>736640775all live service publishers and developers should be dragged out into the street and shot
>>736636240Any kind of FOMO, which generally means>dailies>battlepasses>gachas (because they are rotating)>social obligation / guilds (because they either kick you, lose your guild benefits or the guild dies because people didn't do their shitty tasks)>events and seasonal only content (I don't hate them, but since they're part of FOMO, they have to go or ideally become permanent)>artificial scarcity (caused by FOMO items going out of "circulation) which means extreme prices for items you can't buy or obtain anymore (IE shit like gacha cosmetics or event cosmetics like Runescape party hats etc)Eliminating FOMO eliminates over half of everything I hate in modern gaming, which coincidentally is like the top most profitable thing in the industry right now.It deserves to die, especially if the FOMO is monetized
>>736636240#4achievement faggots will never understand the damage
>>736636240Dark Patterns sounds like some shit from a Paper Mario game lmao
>>736636240I'm not subject to any of these because I play video games for the story. Once the story is done, there's no need for me to engage with it any further.
>>736636240Monetary Dark Patterns because that would get rid of microtransaction slop and gacha characters instantly and the hero shooter mentality of you have to buy to unlock the rest of the game that Capcom started with the fighters and it just caught onto competitive games. Fuck Capcom.
>>736638529>It's wrongreminder that games that aren't designed to siphon your wallet are objectively better than their paid counterparts from a design perspective
>>736636240Monetary, of course. The hydra might regrow heads but it's not gonna regrow its heart.
Cosmetic microtransactions because they have been so absurdly quickly normalized and accepted that there in every single online game and 50% of single player games these days. That battle was lost years ago and i will forever resent zoomers for gobbling that shit up
>>736650558Thankfully most gacha games have shit stories unless you're a gooner.>>736636240sauce?
>>736636290heh
>>736636240Watch these pro-consumer regulations defeat game design that made our childhood memories from before Microtransactions. Just watch it go in and eliminate the possibility of something like Dark Souls or something.
>>736636240Monetary. F2P games would vanish.
>>736652705Something else would take its place.
>>736636240I don't really play f2p games so only dark patterns I've encountered are temporal ones. Not sure what playing by appointment is but I probably don't want that. Also daily rewards are fucking cancer.
>>736636240A games dark pattern has nobeffext on me. I dont soend money on skins, I dont care about other in games anymore, I will play a game as long as it has me engaged and even then I can one day just dislike it. Be your own man, guys.
>>736636240Monetization shit. It's a complete bastardization of what video games were suppose to be. Even the cosmetic-only shit ruins the feel because I have to watch garbage flashy skins in otherwise serious environments, just because jews want to wring more money out of broccoli heads.
