Certain franchises absolutely don't work as intended if you try and start with a later entry.Imagine starting Mass Effect with the 3rd game or some JRPG series like The Legend of Heroes with Trails of Cold Steel IV. It's a valid question, many old games are clunky and suck.Many people overlook how clunky old games are, because they played them at the time and don't have as much trouble going back to them as someone who never played them in the first place.For example having to manually tell workers to mine, having to select individual units when using an ability to avoid the whole stack casting it, small select groups in SC1 would be a massive turnoff for someone use to more modern RTS games.
