Can't believe Nintendo censor arm suggested in Splatoon
>>
>>736648251
Didn't they censor that in Mario RPG, too? It was Bowser's battle victory pose in Japan.

Jamie is supposed to be his Rival but they don't really do anything with it
The villain stuff is weird, considering in the prequel lore for 6 he misguidedly fights (and gets his ass beaten) by Ken in order to protect JP, its a shame the world tour stuff is entirely just your self insert going around learning from people while practically nothing important happens

Paper Mario seem worse than RPG

These are the two new faces of SF going forward.
>>
>>736646924
Evidently not seeing as how nobody accepted him in such a role
>>

what? everyone likes luke
>>
>>736646924
Ayo where's the 'mato sauce on that pizz?
>>
>>736646924
As much as Alex, Abel and Rashid were. So no.
>>
>>736649167
rashid is very popular, just not as a protagonist. alex too. abel though yeah kek what the fuck went wrong there, sf4 had the most dogshit new additions in series history
>>
>>736649127
Shitposters pretend to like Luke specifically because nobody liked how he was pushed in their faces
>>
>>736649228
no luke is actually genuinely well liked, he's a good character with an actual personality. obviously he's not up there with the classics but for a new guy he's one of the most successful up there with ed and rasneed
>>
Eventually they might learn that they can't introduce a new main protagonist without removing the old cast who have overstayed as it is
>>
>>736649224
Juri and Viper broke their backs carrying the newcomers. At least with SFV the burden was split with G, Rashid, Laura and Menat.
>>
>>736649224
They're all fine as Other Character who's less important than Ryu, Guile, Chun-Li or anyone else kind of important. A fighting game should have some fighters who are there in case the main characters aren't that interesting to you.
>>
>>736649321
SFV's base roster did that and I'll defend it over SF6's safe ass SF2 + Newcomers + Juri. Except for the exclusion of Guile and charge characters in general.
>>
>>736648375
SF6 story is some of the most pointless shit in this series. Usually it revolves around a big central tournament and main villain to triumph over at the end, or some overarching narrative in later games, but 6? 6 is just JP being a douchebag, a bunch of people randomly meeting up for the hell of it for their various life circumstances, Bison getting revived so bad guys can reunite to continue their shit for the next game, and Avatar protag basically getting nothing accomplished but meeting and learning the cast. There's not even a big overarching tournament for once, it's just the most passive filler game despite the emphasis.

>There's not even a big overarching tournament for once, it's just the most passive filler game despite the emphasis.
theres the one in nayshall that bosch kamikazes at
>>
>>736649471
I mean technically yeah but it's not important to anyone but Bosch, the Avatar and JP. In terms of the rest of SF6 it's not even on any character's radar outside of World Tour despite the prologue comic trying so hard to build up to it fucking over Ken's life and so forth.
>>
>>736649432
Half of SF5's base roster was SF2 characters
What the fuck are you talking about?
>>
>>736649273
>no luke is actually genuinely well liked,
Capcom intentionally making Luke overpowered in SFV to try and "hype" him up did irreversible damage to his reputation. I know that I hated Luke even before SF6 came out and I will not forget that final SFV season pain.
>>
>>736646945
OH NO TRANNY MELTDOWN
>>
>>736649526
NTA, but he's absolutely right. Vanilla SFV did a lot of things wrong, but the way it handled SF2 veterans was absolutely correct. It kept the "important" SF2 characters like Ryu, Ken, and Chun, and then cut out the fat that nobody likes like Honda and Blanka, bumping them to DLC down the line. I'll take that approach ANY DAY over the SF6 approach of "WE MUST DEDICATE 8 SLOTS IN SMALL VANILLA ROSTERS TO EVERY SINGLE WORLD WARRIOR EVEN THOUGH NOBODY PLAYS HONDA"
>>
Are people still going to like Alex after SF6?
>>
>>736650248
>It kept the "important" SF2 characters like Ryu, Ken, and Chun
That's exactly who are keeping them from ever successfully pushing a new protagonist so no, they did not handle it correctly.
If Ryu is in the game then the hot new face of Street Fighter will fail.
>>
>>736650403
>Ryu
lol. Okay, anon, well you better get used to it, because Capcom is never going to make a Street Fighter game without Ryu. They've pretty much said exactly that.
>>
>>736650503
Fine by me, they're the ones who are desperate to replace him as the main character, not me. I'm simply pointing out why they fail at it every single attempt.
>>
>>736650543
Ah. Well, I don't think anyone will ever "replace" Ryu. It comes down to what you want out of a SF protagonist. Ryu will always be Mr. Street Fighter. He'll be in every game and his story covers the arc of the whole series. But within each game, there is still room for a protagonist who is more directly tied to the events of that particular game. Alex was tied to Gill, Abel was tied to Seth, etc. I think it works the way Capcom is doing it, but you'd be a fool to ever think that some newcomer will "replace" Ryu. The one time they thought about doing that with SF3, they got cold feet and added Ryu and Ken anyway. That should tell you all you need to know.
>>
He's works for a private military company and plays retro games with stretched widescreen. No I do not like him.
>>
>>736650787
This is why I like Tekken. Because they will take risks from time to time. They literally went one game without Kazuya just to introduce the REAL MC of the series: his son Jin. It shows while Namco are indeed pussies here and there, they're still not as much of a pussy as Capcom is.
>>
>>736651828
that was over 25 years ago and at the same time capcom was trying to replace ryu with alex. both of them refuse to move on, tekken 7 killed off heihachi/sf5 killed off bison and guess what they're both back as dlc
>>
>>736651952
High demand by fans for Heihachi. The dictator was only included for status quo mandates. No one asked for him.
