Why do plenty of people fail to understand that Champion is Game Freak's attempt to encourage casual players to try a competitive Pokémon? Yes, the current state of Champion is far from ideal if you're competitive fag veterans, but it's very friendly for casuals who were previously afraid to try PvP competitive battles because of high skill floors and high skill ceilings.A limited number of mons means they're not overwhelmed by options; they don't need to spend days before jumping into the game just to know which mons are viable for the current format, and no powerful items like Choice Specs, Life Orb, and whatnot mean they don't get BTFO'd too hard due to lack of knowledge, like thinking that their Pokémon is safe against certain mons only to get OHKO'd by a non-STAB coverage move that gets boosted by Choice Specs.It's a very newbie-friendly competitive Pokémon game, period, and I'm not surprised if Game Freak gets a decent amount of new fans by the time Wind and Waves get released
God I hope there will be a season without mega evolutions, I've always found them to be mega lame. Better than gigantamax and whatever the crystal meth mode was though.
