>>736707762Reversal edge is only part of the problem. 1 way GI, blue spark guard break, and meter are all terrible. 2 way GI, the old soul charge system, and cancelable unblockables were more cohesive.I don't remember the system changes from 2 to 3. Unlike most of the other Namco fighting games, soul calibur 3 did not have an arcade release before the home console version so they had no opportunity to fix the problems they overlooked. I think the competitive players back in the day didn't like 3 specificly because there was a glitch that made almost anything cancelable or something. I could be misremembering some of this. I know Aris has an old stream vod of messing around in sc3 and reminiscing. It's too long and unfocused to sift through but I bet there is some good knowledge buried in there somewhere.

SCVI is genuinely an actually PERFECT game and its an anomaly that it exists. Every character can win a tournament but also retains a unique game plan. Almost no character outside of is boring in SC6, the devs really did their best to give everyone a fair shake and make them all have something interesting about them to play, adding things patch after patch to give people something to try with their characters. It really is a fucking fantastic game and if we do get another one I don't know how they will do better because all I wanted was the rest of the old characters getting their place in 6 with the same love from the devs.
