Name a worse game mechanicProtip: You literally can't
rollslopparryslop
>>736707597are you saying you dont like the alchemy in kcd or what is this
Weapon Durability from BOTW
>>736707597>Prevents save scumming >Forces you to immerse in the world by seeking shelter after a long adventure every single dayFiltered
>>736707597Literally what is the point of this mechanic if the game autosaves before combat or before making a decision so the player doesn’t seethe about losing their progress
Henry prefers Semen Schnapps
>>736707851Cheesing in free roam and certain decisions
Alignment in Ogre Battle basically punished you for playing the game well. If you have a higher level army beat a lower level army, the alignment for your army will go lower. If you freed a town with a low alignment army, you lost reputation.
Not sure if it counts as a mechanic but non-skippable walk and talk bullshit disguised as gameplay is the worst shit ever implemented into games. It's already a chore on the first playthrough, it's a nightmare on replays. Games don't value your time anymore, cutscenes used to be a treat in between gameplay because they were short, entertaining, and to the point, and not endless boring dialogue. Now I dread story in games. Game developers don't value the player's time anymore.
>saving via typewriter and inkOMG PEAK GAMEPLAY>saving via sleeping and getting drunkWORST GAME MECHANIC
>>736707597this is such a ridiculous thing to complain about i have to believe that it's bait
>>736707830>you can just buy/steal a gorillion of them with zero consequencesyou have no argument, and "immersion" autists deserve the rope.
>>736707597Battlepass
>>736707597>install alchemy mod>literally just throw the ingredients into the pot, raw and unprocessed>get 200 of the potion at max qualityyep, its gaming time.
>>736707597>savescummingyou didnt beat the game
>>736711087>saving at allyou didnt beat the game
>>736707597this is the most overrated nothingburgerin kcd1 drinking synergizes with EVERYTHING so you drink more and level up the drinking skill itself which increases your resistance to alcohol allowing to save scum MORE and you can, on purpose, drink yourself stupid (save scumming even more) and teleport yourself to bed with no consequences. when you max drinking all spirits are half as strong meaning you can save scum EVEN MOREin 2 schnapps is even weaker by default so not only can you save scum but the more you level alchemy the better your schnapps gets and henry level schnapps not only barely even touch you as far as drunkenness, but they buff 3 skills AND heal you AND save the game
>be me>drink awake potion>can’t sleep>day ruinedfuck the sleep system. who thought this was a good idea?
>>736707597you can literally buy or craft savior schnapps thoughit's not that hard
>>736710943>and "immersion" autists deserve the rope.kcd is intended to be an immersive historical fiction rpg
>>736711860>oh no>combine it with a sleep potion to counteract it>gives the painfully shit yourself debuff
>>736710943Well game pushes you in a certain immersive direction through hunger, energy and the save system Which works for a lot of people
>>736707814Tool durability in Animal Crossing.Nintendo really loved durability during the switch era
>>736711026I like the way you think
>>736707597It's quite the perfect mechanic for this kind of game, in the early game they're expensive so the hobo phase is even more intense, but in late game you can just play like Skyrim and fuck around.
>>736707597It's not that bad
>>736711971>enter a village you have never been to before in the dead of night>steal a ton of stuff>not a single person saw you>somehow everyone knows it was you>steal literally anything, even simple bread, with nobody noticing>try to sell it in another town>somehow they know that item is a stolen item>splashing water on your face completely cleans you>the rain does nothingyeah, real immersive.
>>736707597I remember getting a mod to have manual saves and it made the game 100x betterEven without it the economy in this game is a joke. Lockpicking and stealing is way too easy
>>736712570>Lockpicking and stealing is way too easyironically, to the immersionfags' favor, actual lockpicking is really easy.
>quit and save>reloadwhat am I missing here?
>>736707814Durability of any sort in any game
>>736713001quickly reloading while already in game is significantly faster than the initial launch and load.
1% item drop rates in singleplayer games
Are there any of these mechanics that aren't ridiculously annoying and intrusive, or easily solvable to the point where they lose all purpose? This shit, the Hardcore mode in New Vegas, a shit ton of games can never get Food/Hunger/Sleep/limited saves in the sweet spot between annoying and negligible.
>>736712905>actual lockpicking is really easyhuh, why didnt more people do it then>dungeonokay maybe I know now why
>>736712429>New guy comes to town>Massive robbery takes placealso>Oh this retard who looks nothing like a trader is trying to sell me a retarded amount of household items Pretty immersive
>>736713248It usually means you have get all the "grinding/luck" items Then kill the same enemy 50 times I did it for exiled knight armor in ER
>>736707597>Estus flask>I-frames>Runbacks >Invasions
>>736713975>why didnt more people do it thenits still a skill that you have to deliberately learn, and you have to have the right tools. additionally, its the crime that comes after picking the lock that most people dont want to get involved with. there are guys on youtube where all they do is pick locks, and even the most "unpickable lock" is usually a complete joke. SOMETIMES it takes actual effort and skill, but the amount of times that you can just quickly jam a tool in and pop the lock is insane.
>>736707597Soul Memory from DS2. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and I hope whoever designed this mechanic rots in one of the 9 circles.
>>736707597stamina bar
>>736707730Both of those are fun. More so than shitty comboslop and one button mash slop
>>736707597perma death in fire emblem
>>736714054>>New guy comes to town>>Massive robbery takes placeyou missed the part where they never saw me come to town. i guess its my fault for failing to mention leaving town entirely and going back to whatever village you came from before. but you can be completely undetected, but then fully wanted when they wake up. >trying to sell me a retarded amount of household items trying to sell a single loaf of common bread they have no way of knowing was stolen but still magically recognizing it as stolen is retarded. nobody said anything about the amount. also, by your logic, you could just wait out the stolen item tag, be some mook that looks nothing like a trader, and successfully sell a retarded amount of household items. no problem there?you have no argument.
>>736714331>single loaf of common breadI don't remember low value stuff like that ever getting marked, i could be wrong but i don't think so
>>736714380ANY item you steal (except groschen) gets flagged with a red hand icon for a while. eventually it disappears. cheaper items clear sooner, more expensive ones (like a golden crucifix) can take like a week.
>>736707597Level scaling. Defeats the purpose of progression
Easy. The entirety of the core gameplay loop of extraction shooters.
>>736707597Weapon durability, just as a whole.
>>736712196>not having immunity to shit debuffsskill issue
>>736707597I haven't played the 2nd game, but I think the idea is fine for the first one. Allows for save scumming, but not too many times in a row. What's the difference between weak and strong, just the alcohol content? So the weak one is better?
>>736714290t. Casual
>>736713154Incorrect because Durability in Demons' Souls allowed you to inflict it on the people you were against and that shit back in early PS3 days was as close as we got to Halo teabaging rage baiting.
>>736707830>Prevents save scummingand that's a bad thing
>>736707830>>Prevents save scumming It doesn't, it just makes it more annoying to do so it's just pointless busywork by the end of the day. That combined with the game crashing every hour or so and downloading the unlimited saves makes it pretty much a necessity to play the game if you want to complete it.
>>736710943That is an option for people that don't want to be immersed and having options is good.
>>736711026Alchemy in KDC is so tedious I don't see why not.>>736713190It's like 5 vs 15 seconds I don't know what potato you got but my games starts up and loads the game really quickly.>alchemy = tedious>stealing shit that isn't nailed down = makes the game too easy/immersion breaking>save & quit exists which defeats alchemyI didn't struggle with the game so I was stacked on saviour schnapps anyway but if they wanted to prevent save scumming this was the dumbest way to do it.
>>736711971>kcd is intended to be an immersive historical fiction rpgWhat the fuck does it mean "intended" lol? Is it or is it not and what makes it that?
>>736717056What the fuck are you on about. I recently finished the first at 136h and im 40h in on the 2nd game and i've had 2 crashes combined. And my shit system is from the last decade
>>736717056>Crashing Don't play the unpatched pirated version.
>>736716970It's more engaging >>736717056I can see people going either wayBut in my case i didn't save scum
>>736717775You're right every fantasy rpg should include a Alpha Romero Montreal V8 but with machinenguns on it
>>736717775Games usually don't achive their goals all the way though because there gameplay reasons, testing and all shit So you have change certain things to make it more enjoyable
>>736714263I find it hilarious how that game has all that as playstyles. LMFAO
>>736713248Before the internet, they were Easter eggs. Minor variance in order to make every single playthrough not feel the same while most people didn't even know it existed. Nowadays with everyone using walkthrough and wikis shit gets datamined day 1 and now people think they have to grind it out for "optimal" gameplay.
>>736717056>it just makes it more annoyingThat's the damn point, you don't quicksave every 30 seconds but can still save when you actually need to.
>>736713190You're just frontloading the time spent with gathering ingredients and making save potions. Save & quit is actually faster.
>>736718626How is it more immersive than let's say just about any other game with a hunger meter? GTA:SA had that and you needed to go to a safehouse to save your game. You couldn't do certain missions if you were too fat.
>>736720000He's so obviously gay, no wonder they made Hans into a cock slut.
>>736720000Seems better than having a chud audience
>>736714054kcd2 (not1)>kill anyone outside of anyone eyes in city>guards find body>they imidiatly know it was you and now they hase you because they also have gps tracker in your pants> kill a random woman outside kuttenberg who lean on bridge barrier next to castle gate so i can hide body in moat right next to it>right as i go back to bridge another woman from city walk to exact same spot and lean the same way taking dead woman spot, i repeat action> 10 women respawn this way 10 bodies in same spot, but noone found the body so i am saint even tho it happend 60 m away from some peasant looking at it >i realise npc just spawn like in gta instead of being city citisensthis is not imersivekcd1 had imersivnes, if i kill a citisen hi remain dead for most of the game (if you sleep for 7-10 days it respawn to fix save for gameplay sake)kcd2 is not immerse at all
>>736707597The lack of pissing and shitting mechanics.
>>736721224KCD1 had the annoying mechanic that dead bodies would tank your reputation when they despawned.
