No. All of the Tarnished sans Vyke and Godfrey are statistically speaking all losers. Vyke did kill two demigods because he had to make it to Leyndell and Enya mentions that shes only once seen a Tarnished make it that far. Godfrey well naturally has his entire history to his name. Gideon meanwhile just makes up arbitrary reasons for why you're lesser than him or should listen to him. Its possible hes killed two demigods since he knows about the wisdom imparted by the Two Fingers, but he also says they've outlived their usefulness eons ago and thinks little of them.

The Nox created artificial life in the form of the silver tears, and this act lead to their destruction. The golden order claims that the Greater Will itself punished them, but it seems more likely that the silver tears simply proliferated out of control, killing and partially replacing their creators. Ages later, the sorcerers of Raya Lucaria accessed Nokstella and began to study the Nox quicksilver to see how it might be used. First, they tried to use it to bring corpses back to life. While it did animate the corpses, they were new people, not revived versions of the original, and started to suffer the effects of mercury poisoning (paralysis). These ard the generation 1 albinaurics. The sorcerers also tried mixing quicksilver with a mixture of flesh to see if they could create longer lasting servants, producing the aquatic looking generation 2 albinaurics, who presumably look the way they do because their creation was an alchemical symbolic recreation of the evolutionary origin of life. Generation 2 albinaurics have enough quicksilver in their bodies that they amalgamate external influences such as Mohg's bloodflame; this property is also why silver weapons and armor are associated with the arcane stat.

As the albinaurics are an attempt by rogue Lucarian sorcerers to usurp the Greater Will's creation, they are hated by the golden order, and even take extra damage from holy attacks. Some generation 1 albinaurics hid their identities to avoid ostracization, and its possible some did not even know they were albinaurics. By contrast, the gen 2's were universally hated and maligned, and as much for their appearance as the theological implications of their existence.

>>736714024
Gideon seems like he might be a Godfrey-era Tarnished who worked as a kind of spy master. He's clearly accomplished outside of the Lands Between and powerful among the NPC characters, but he hasn't obtained any Great Runes that we can discern. While he had an audience with the Two Fingers, that was probably back when the Tarnished were allowed to be at the actual Fortified Manor and things were different, prior to Vyke messing up by picking the Frenzied Flame and Bernahl's Finger Maiden then burning the Erdtree.
>>
>>736714162
Im mad that there isn't a friendly second gen Albinauric npc to be friends to, I always wondered how these dudes would talk.
>>
>>736715342
A very large gen 1 albinauric. Probably made from the corpse of either a numen or a carian royal. How it could reproduce or why Latenna would know that is completely unexplained.
>>
>>736713698
They're basically androids. Their creators probably made them to be slave labor, and the various faiths might hate them for existing outside of their respective god's designs. In particular, Liurnians probably hate them for being inferior to Silver Tears, and the Golden Order probably hates them because their blood can be used in ritual pots to temporarily negate all healing attempts using Flasks of Crimson/Cerulean Tears.

>>736714865
It's more likely that the Nox just have metal poisoning from their work and the semi-fungal "stars" they have lighting up their caverns. We have no reason to believe that Raya Lucaria injected Silver Tear matter into corpses, and such a theory wouldn't explain why Albinaurics' legs literally start becoming transparent and dissipating out of existence. As for why they take extra damage from holy attacks, they likely just like gold in their chemical and mystical composition, or they're made from things weak to the holy branches of spells in general.
>>
>>736713558
Tarnished Edition soon. You can buy horse armor! (I'm not joking)
>>
>>736715404
According to a cut line from Thops, the second-generation Albinaurics can't talk. This cut line is also the source of the idea that Raya Lucaria invented Albinaurics. In the final game it's unclear who invented them, though it's implied to be either the Nox or sorcerers (perhaps heretical) who researched the Nox's works. The Albinaurics then tried to keep themselves alive. Phillia (Latenna's giant sister, whose name is only revealed if you're near her and not the host) might be akin to the gigantic figures seen on the Nox thrones, and might birth Albinaurics akin to how the giant Silver Tear spheres seemingly drip out Silver Tears.

The nox are dead. Killed and replaced by silver tears, that's why they have silver flesh.
>We have no reason to believe that Raya Lucaria injected Silver Tear matter into corpses,
How else do you think the gen 1's were made? Not even the first time that the sorcerers tried to bring the dead back to life by imbuing corpses with animating energy, although the first time had far worse results (the revenants)
>>
>>736714094
Yep. There's two generations of them, the first and second. The first gen resemble humans, but have a fault that causes their legs to degrade, so they're all cripples and generally pair with wolves to ride to move around. The second gen are more portly and their faults cause their heads to resemble frog heads, but they're not cripples. Commander Gaius in the DLC is a first-gen Albinauric, and the Scholar in Nighreign is an advanced model who lacks the faults of both the first and second gens.

All Albinaurics are infertile. As an artificial race, they cannot reproduce. However, obtaining the means to change this was the goal of the Albinauric Latenna, who ventured away from their home at the Haligtree to Liurnia to visit Raya Lucaria and Rennala, who mastered the Art of Rebirth. There she obtained a unique Larval Tear called a "birthing droplet" that could rebirth an Albinauric to be able to bear children. She was captured by Gideon Ofnir's men before she could return, and Gideon killed her wolf to intimidate her into turning over the Haligtree Medallion she had, because he wanted to reach the Haligtree to track down Miquella and Malenia.

Once you take Latenna to the Consecrated Snowfield she gives the birthing droplet to a large Albinauric at the Apostate Derelict ruins, fulfilling her goal. With that, the Albinaurics can reproduce and live on.

Although I agree Ranni is best, I also have to admit it's not really fair. The reason? Ranni is the only waifu you can actually waifu, aka marry. She's the only one you explicitly get together with. The others? Nothing. Especially Melina. You could make an argument for marrying Marika, but is that really true? You just embrace her nugget form, then nothing. You don't see her restored. You don't see her by your side while you're on the throne. Nothing. Like I said, Ranni gets so much more than the others that it isn't remotely fair.

>>
>>736715776
We have no reason to believe the Nox are dead to have that silver flesh. Metal poisoning can create a similar look, and the "star" spores in the Nox caverns have landed on mushrooms and plants and made them oily and metallic, so the same is likely true for the Nox. That would also explain why they've had to start covering up so much and even wearing gloves. The description for the Nox's armor sets also notes that the Nox are still working toward an age of the stars even in the present day, so they're not extinct. As for the first-generation Albinaurics, they were likely made from scratch using metals and sorcery, and crafted in humanity's image in the hope it'd make them intelligent. We don't know what forms the revenants, but it seems to be based on severe grudges and possibly Death Blight.

>>736716249
You're just a fucking retard and don't understand the charm. It cures mental illness and subdues violent intent, it's not "mind control". Mohg started neglecting his murder cult after being enchanted, instead spending all day daydreaming in his goon temple, forcing Varre to do everything. Also, Miquella was in a coma when Mohg kidnapped him and got himself charmed, it was an accident.
>>
>>736715857
We have no idea what the birthing droplet is, so claiming it relates to Rennala and Larval Tears is a total guess. Larval Tears seem to be the true, core bodies of Silver Tears, or otherwise are their brains. Latenna appears to have been in Liurnia to either escort Albinaurics to Elphael, obtain the birthing droplet from the Liurnian Albinaurics, or to locate her sister, unaware that someone was already helping her sister reach Ordina.

The Bewitching Branches show that the charm is a form of mind control, not mental meds. The Bloody Fingers weren't neglected, Mohg was just put in a state where he was overly fixated on Miquella after abducting the child.

Miyazaki the Liar...
>>
>>736716681
The revenants aren't filled with cursed spirits, they call those separately with their bells. The royal revenants have hollow torsos and seem to be several bodies fused together. The only thing the revenants might have in common with Omens is haunted spirits, though revenants call them to attack and Omens are actively haunted by them, attacking with them only incidentally. The Death Blight seems to cause and agitate a lot of zombies and ghostly things.
>>
>>736716613
Yes but Millicent and her sister, and probably many more clones constantly spawn from there. The point is that they need to succeed in their quest to be the new Scarlet Valkyrie, and now that Malenia is not there anymore who knows what will happen. Maybe the giant Aeonia flower that is Malenia still let them become a vallyrie
>>
>>736716671
We know from the intro and item descriptions that Miquella was asleep in his tree when Mohg took him and that he never once woke up or responded to Mohg in any way. None the less, Mohg was charmed, because merely touching Miquella is enough to be charmed, and Ansbach was charmed similarly.
>>736716675
You don't have control over those affected by the bewitching branch, they just change loyalty. Also, the bewitching branch is not Miquella's intrinsic charm.
>The Bloody Fingers weren't neglected, Mohg was just put in a state where he was overly fixated on Miquella after abducting the child.
>The bloody fibgers weren't neglected, Mohg just ignored them in favor of his fuck doll
That's neglecting them
>>
Is Romina another Rot goddess avatar? If yes, it means that Rot goddess had two avatars for a long time at the same time.
>>
>>736716772
>The revenants aren't filled with cursed spirits
Yes they are. They are burning with the same dull yellow fire that the omens have and which is fired by the wraith calling bell, wielded by the wraith callers, who worship the revenants.
>The only thing the revenants might have in common with Omens is haunted spirits, though revenants call them to attack and Omens are actively haunted by them, attacking with them only incidentally.
Correct
>The Death Blight seems to cause and agitate a lot of zombies and ghostly things.
True, but death blight is also "holy", in a sense, with TWLID only being directly countered by specific anti-undead spells, whereas revenants are harmed by normal healing spells and not affected by anti-undead magic.
>>
>>736716796
That's not their quest, their quest is to return the aspect of Malenia they embody back to their host. It's the Pests' goal to twist them into something else. Millicent even says that she wants to return her dignity/pride back to Malenia, and the purified Unalloyed Gold Needle is symbolic of this. Malenia giving you a different Needle that you can use is her way of saying thanks for returning her pride back to her, as her pride is what allowed her to resist the call of the Scarlet Rot. Even as a flower.
>>
>>736716882
Nah, Romina isn't a full avatar, though she might have been on the path to becoming one
>>
>>736716810
Mohg was part of Miquella's plan from the start (of the dlc lore obviously) to resurrect Radhan body.
>>
>>736716810
Miquella was in a coma when abducted, and initially unaware of the abduction, but his soul seemingly awoke to some degree to shift gears with his plans. Mohg didn't notice it happening, but Miquella's plans, healing Freyja, etc. indicate that it did. We also have no reason to believe that Miquella automatically charms people, because the Bewitching Branch description says that Miquella had to learn how to compel affection, thus it wasn't inherent to him.

The Bewitching Branches are Miquella's charm in item form, complete with a Hailgtree sigil and requiring a Miquella's Lily to make. The DLC variant, the Charming Branch, makes that even more clear. The only reason you're not directly puppeteering someone the branch is used on is because navigating that level of control as a mechanic would be overly obnoxious to code and play. The intent that the target is serving the will of the wielder is made clear.

Mohg was still having the Bloody Fingers murder people and gather blood, and the Lord of Blood's Exultation talisman even reinforces this in the post-abduction era. Mohg just shifted the gears of his operation to overly center on Miquella instead of that being one of many possible options.

Romina was a pawn, but the Scarlet Rot outer god apparently only considered Malenia as capable of being turned into its servant god. Romina would never be divine.

>>736716921
Revenants aren't filled with those spirits, they just have a similarly tainted aura. The wraith callers are themselves revenants. Omens are haunted by wrathful hornsent spirits, whereas revenants seem to call (and are) general wrathful spirits. Revenants are of a different sort of undead, but the Death Blight seems to cause and agitate all types of undead nonetheless.

>>736717008
Mohg was abducting Miquella at a time when Malenia was being sent to go get Radahn even in Radahn's original body. Miquella wouldn't have been planning on Mohg's involvement from the start.
>>
Elden Ring lore is kino
>>
Marika, have them cook the next game until it's completely done, no glaring last minute cut lore, and my semen is yours!
>>
>>736717013
>We also have no reason to believe that Miquella automatically charms people
We know from Ansbach that it's instant and on touch. He was just able to wound Miquella but at that instant had his heart stolen. Likewise, in the Radahn fight, you can get charmed if Radahn grabs you because it lets Miquella touch your face. It takes two times in that case probably because he destroyed his great rune. Freyja was charmed when Miquella healed her, Leda wasn't charmed until Miquella had to directly deal with her after she killed the other Needle knights, and we see in the cutscene Radahn get charmed when Miquella clings to him, causing his posture and demeanor to change.

The reason the branch isn't directly puppeting is because that is not how the charm works or why it exists. If it was direct mind control, Miquella would have had Mohg kill himself, or go to a more easily accessible area where someone might kill him, rather than hide in Mohgwyn Palace, one of the most obscure and well defended possible locations.
>>
>>736717208
The next game is nothing but live service multiplayer battle royale slop
>>
>>736717008
Incorrect. Miquella didn't know he would need a new body for Radahn and also didn't know he'd be kidnapped. But his kidnapping offered a serendipidous solution for the problem caused by Malenia defying Miquella's instructions to not use the scarlet aeonia.

his spirit WAS resurrected already, it's the mending rune of the death-prince. deathbed companions gather life energy and then sleep next to a dead noble to pass that life energy to the noble and resurrect them again, at the price of their own life. fia chose to perform this with godwyn, and 'gestated' her mending rune as the result of the ritual. godwyn's soul was resurrected as that mending rune.

Why would it be on touch if Ansbach is attacking Miquella with a blade? We just know that Miquella concentrated his charm's efforts on Ansbach upon being harmed. Miquella doesn't even make physical contact with the Tarnished during the grab, and you can see the effects of the charm spell starting even before Miquella moves near. Freyja was charmed because Miquella outright charmed her, he isn't brainwashing anyone he's ever randomly touched. Radahn in the DLC isn't charmed on contact with Miquella, his soul fragments are charmed the entire time, that's why he's carrying out Miquella's aims. The moment more of Radahn's soul starts awakening, Miquella rushes to override the aura and exit the gate. Miquella can clearly place a charm/more of a charm while not even in the same dimension as his target at that point.

The charm is direct mind control, but not an absolute kind based on how intense the charm is and how powerful the target is. Mohg was charmed, but Mohg was still a strong schizo, hence why he was still raping Miquella.

Not only Golden Epitaph (where Miquella calls him dear brother, meaning he cared a lot about him), Miquella built Castle Sol to resurrect him.

Miyazaki had the perfect situation for Melina to appear at numerous points to comment on the situation and characterize her, letting the player bond with her. Like companions in Zelda games. That way when she leaves the player in Leyndell it feels bittersweet, and would incentivize the player to take Shabriri's offer to save Melina more seriously. But no, she only appears optionally at certain sites of grace at Churches of Marika and only expouses Marika's past words. So people could completely forget who she was by the time she leaves, and feel nothing when she immolates herself to send you to Farum Azula.

The way the player bonds with Ranni is how Melina should've been treated too.

castle sol has no relation to godwyn whatsoever
any explanations people have given are purely headcanon, there's nothing in the game supporting it, and the eclipse represents death, which safeguards the soulless demigods in the wandering mausoleums. mausoleum knights sport the eclipse greatshield and wield deathblight-infused spears.

>"The sun in eclipse is said to be the symbol of the Wandering Mausoleum where the soulless demigods slumber."

there is a wandering mausoleum outside castle sol. that was the target of castle sol's failed ritual. not godwyn.

>Why would it be on touch if Ansbach is attacking Miquella with a blade?
Good question. Maybe he "drew blood" (as Leda says) using "Furious Blade of Ansbach", which is cast from the hand. Or perhaps the proximity is a bit greater.
>We just know that Miquella concentrated his charm's efforts on Ansbach upon being harmed.
We have no reason to believe Miquella even knew he was under attack. Why do you think that Malenia called him "the most fearsome"? His magic works even when he's not paying attention, making him quite hard to intentionally harm.
>Miquella doesn't even make physical contact with the Tarnished during the grab
He touches your face
>Freyja was charmed because Miquella outright charmed her
He had no reason to, it was incidental
>he isn't brainwashing anyone he's ever randomly touched
He is charming everyone he's ever touched. Even by accident or incidentally. Hd didn't need Leda's party, they showed up just to worship, and in fact Leda fucked up by getting you involved.
>The moment more of Radahn's soul starts awakening, Miquella rushes to override the aura
Radahn was "awake" from the start. He wants to be lord and willingly submitted to Miquella's godhood. Nothing suggests any degree of unwillingness on his part.

>>
>>736717917
>Nothing suggests any degree of unwillingness on his part.
If that was the case when Miquella wouldn't have needed to send Malenia and her army out to face Radahn in Caelid. Radahn met Malenia's might in combat, forcing Finlay to carry her back to the Haligtree in retreat. He was not willing to acquiesce to Miquella's plan, and so Miquella was at a deadlock until the player killed Radahn, freeing his soul, which Miquella then incarnated into a new body and enslaved with his charm powers.

there's two (nonviolent) ghosts in castle sol
the one in the church of the eclipse says:
>"... Ohh great sun! Frigid sun of Sol! Surrender yourself to the eclipse! Grant life to the soulless bones!"
and the second one says
>"Lord Miquella, forgive me. The sun has not been swallowed. Our prayers were lacking. Your comrade remains soulless... I will never set my eyes upon it now. Your divine Haligtree."
miquella has never referred to godwyn as his "comrade". if anything, it's the soulless demigods in the walking mausoleums, since miquella is the champion of the downtrodden and the soulless demigods are marika's unwanted children, written out of history.
>"... The mausoleum prowls. Cradling the soulless demigod. O Marika, Queen Eternal. He is your unwanted child."
and again, there's a walking mausoleum right outside castle sol. like, RIGHT outside.

Leda's a pretty easy villain. She's paranoid of other people's propensity to betray Miquella, and so kills them under the name of protecting Miquella. She killed all the other Needle Knights this way and only stopped murdering when Miquella charmed her to stop. And the irony is that she suspects other people of betraying Miquella, but never the player, but the player is the only one she should've suspected, since they were never charmed from the start.

The others, however, are indeed doing what they feel is the right thing. Ansbach wants to protect Mohg's dignity in death. Freyja wants to bring Radahn back so he can wage war again. Thiollier wants to fulfill St. Trina's wishes and stop Miquella from eternal slavery.

because it was an experiment, one that failed
miquella conducts a lot of experiments and plans and not all of them work out
the haligtree was another experiment, one meant to replace the erdtree and break his and malenia's curses, but it failed in all regards on all three counts
he switched plans to undergoing his pilgrimage of purification and reviving radahn, but that was stopped by the player
even unalloyed gold was an experiment to ward off the influence of the outer gods, and malenia's prosthetics are made completely out of it. but even despite that the scarlet rot still embraced malenia as its avatar
>>
>>736719103
What's double dumb about that is Hewg's personal questline could've ended with him finally free from the shackles of the Roundtable Hold, living in peace with Roderika, but instead he chooses to stay while it burns. Roderika and the player could've convinced him to go to the Church of Elleh in Limgrave, the first church you're likely to visit, which is the only place in the game the player can use a free anvil to upgrade their own weapons. Turn the church into a safezone, let Hewg work on the anvil, let Roderika set up nearby, and boom, they get good ends.
>>
>>736719103
>>736719316

>>
>>736719217
It doesnt matter if it was an experiment now, im talking about why the ghost mention a single Miquella comrade/partner with no soul, that obviously lead to Godwyn, instead using a plural word for every other dead demigod. It's stupid to think about them, they never had any importance in the lore.
>>
>>736719538
>It's stupid to think about them, they never had any importance in the lore.
wrong, they exemplify marika's vindictiveness and the brutality of the shattering
it wasn't enough that these demigods were unwanted and died, they're now rendered soulless and written out of history entirely
did you know the omen in the subterranean shunning-grounds are ALSO marika's unwanted children? omen born to royalty do not get their horns cut off, and there's like a half dozen of them down there
the only two royal-born omen who made a name for themselves were morgott and mohg
>>
>>736719740
again, then why they specified a single partner instead of the whole bunch? why did they mention that if no other dead demigods actually matters outside Godwyn? it's a writing thing, you have the previous info about Godwyn and Miquella deep connection, with Godwyn being the only single dead demigod that is actually mentioned and central to the lore, so you can guess who is the mysterious partner the ghost talks about. That's why dlc lore fucking sucks on Miquella's side, it has no fucking connections with the established lore of the base game. From reached the point to retcon the Radhan and Malenia's fight with that bullshit phrase in the dlc trying to give to the whole mess some background, when in the base game there isnt a single connection between Miquella and Radhan
>>
>>736720081

that's why he doesn't have much presence in the dlc

He wants to keep what Marika started and Uchiha Madara the fuck out of everybody under the pretense of World Peace. Now I'm not saying they are Good by any chance but I would argue that the alternatives provided in-world narrative are not clearly better. Ranni putting us in the Age of stars/Moon doesn't imply wheteher its better or not. Chaos god 3 fingers cult is random too, same goes for Rykard and eating the tree, no one is the obviously better choice here, every party thinks they are doing the right thing in the broader sense, not just those who were mesmerised by Miquella, no if anyone argues for an Ending/Party/Clan whatever I am willing to listen I'm not saying I have the answers I'm just saying its not Black/White as people tend to say it is.

It is funny how people try to portray Leda as some insane yandere, when the three people she tries to kill, were all actually intending to betray Miquella.
If Ansbach's quest succeeds, he tries to kill Miquella a second time. If Hornsent is able to fight Messmer, he tries to kill every Tarnished. If the player makes it past Leda at Enir Ilim, they're going to try and kill Miquella.
She was literally right every time in her deduction. Even passing over Thiollier for being harmless, when that works because his quest is very arcane to figure out if you want him to fight with you against St. Trina.

It isn't paranoia if they're literally out to get you.

I don't think the Nox got replaced, because the remaining Nox maidens clearly hold leadership positions over the Silver Tears.
I do think that the Nox realized that they were a dying race and created the Silver Tears as a way to try and offset that. It is what also lead them to try and create a Mimic Tear, a Silver Tear that could replicate the power of even the strongest warriors in history.
They realized that their numbers were dwindling and they wanted to bolster that through any means necessary.

He was legendary as a scholar/information seeker before his death.
In his second life, he is genuinely strong, but he schemed his way into losing the race by spending too much time searching for minutia rather than getting his hands dirty gathering runes and becoming stronger.
He could easily kill Godrick or battle Rennala. But he won't and we will. Therefore we eventually go from zero to hero and he goes insane.

His issue is that he's smart enough to intuit what Marika wants.
Marika wants a Tarnished to fight as hard as they can to become a Lord and either save her or at least put her out of her misery.
He knows that this will mean battling some manifestation of the Golden Order (if not specifically the Elden Beast, then at least he has an idea of what is coming). And that this will be a God that is beyond mortal understanding.
What he doesn't have, is the ability to embrace irrationality that the player does. Who battles two legendary Lords, and then fights the Elden Beast and shrugs as says, "This was easier than Malenia or those Revenants".
Instead he sees this as an infinitely toxic desire of hers which will just drive man against man for eternity in a dying world that cannot be fixed as long as the Goddess at its head would prefer the world destroyed than to suffer as a prisoner any longer.

The boss requires too much min-maxing of any build archetype.
It is maximum rollslop or maximum shieldturtling or maximum bufffagging. Its even long enough to make the parry tear run out on a number of builds.
There's no nuance to it. Either you're rolling constantly, or you're sitting behind a barricade shield ash of war and just taking full combos, or you're buff stacking like a retard and tanking as much damage as possible.

The fight doesn't really lend itself to the more natural builds that most people play that combine these strategies together. You basically have to pick one way of beating Consort Radahn and min-max it as much as you can.

The ghost is obviously talking about Godwyn.
The Eclipse Shotel is found in the same castle and is clearly linked to Godwyn with its deathblight.
Sol is either a refuge of Godwyn loyalists or otherwise was a place that Miquella organized a ritual to try and save Godwyn that failed.
The link is clear. Trying to turn that from the obvious link to Godwyn to a link to a literallywho mausoleum god is silly. There are two Mausoleums on the way to the Haligtree and Miquella doesn't care about the other one at all, nor any of the others.

Ostensibly there were more Erdtree nobles than there just Marika's bloodline.
The Wandering Nobles, Haights, and Fire Knights makes it clear that she uplifted a large number of followers to lordship.
The Horned Omen in the sewers are more the general sons and daughters of nobles than all hers.
>>
>>736720316
Building the Golden Epitaph for Godwyn is a significant move.
Castle Sol being clearly built around a church with its central artifact being the Eclipse Shotel - a legendary weapon that obviously wasn't just meant to represent irrelevant dead demigods but Godwyn himself - and having Miquella also storing half of the Haligtree Medallion in the location there and being named by the ghost there, adds another link.
We got two connections there, which is as much as anything else in the game.

>If that was the case when Miquella wouldn't have needed to send Malenia and her army out to face Radahn in Caelid.
It is if he just wanted to fight. We don't know the nature of their vow. Probably Radahn agreed on the grounds that he was conquered, or even specifically killed and brought back. If Radahn rejected the offer and Miquella wanted to force the issue, he simply would have charmed Radahn, eliminating the need for the battle of Aronia.

Yes, in our world, he is evil, but so is every other Demigod in the lands between. My argument is, nevertheless, in a world where "Good" by real life standards do no exist in a power that is able and willing to take matters in its hand, Mikey's version is just as evil as the next option available by "Your flavor of Megalomaniac Demigod."

The tarnished is pretty good, he kills demigods, loves freedom, and isn't afraid of anything. Age of Fracture is the best ending for that reason alone.
>>736732698
Unless of course he knew his charms wouldn't work on the strongest demigod (morgott aside) since godfrey's era. Killing him and putting his soul in mohg's body makes more sense when you look at it from that perspective.

>Unless of course he knew his charms wouldn't work on the strongest demigod (morgott aside)
Mohg is strong as shit and it instantly owned him. Even Malenia considered Miquella's charm to be the most powerful ability, and half of Ansbach's dialog is him saying "you don't understand, you CAN'T resist it, I'm shitting my pants just thinking about it".

Also Mohg kidnapping him wasn't planned, we know this because Mohg hid in the ass end of Nokron rather than being directed to go somewhere he could be more easily found and killed.

Your theory requires Miquella's blood splashing on him and the blood to have that effect innately, which is a total reach. Furthermore, by that standard, the Tarnished would have been charmed just by touching Miquella's arm to even reach the DLC, yet that clearly didn't happen. Miquella knew he was under attack because of how his arm has moved up through and out of the cocoon, the position we initially find it in when entering Mohg's boss room. This was most likely in response to Ansbach attacking him and tearing open the cocoon in the process. Alternatively, at some point when Miquella's soul stirred enough to realize he was abducted, he tore open part of the cocoon from the inside akin to kicking in his sleep.

Miquella's hand gets near the Tarnished but doesn't make contact, and the spell is visibly starting beforehand. We have no reason to believe that Miquella only incidentally charmed Freyja, nor do we have any reason to believe that Miquella is unaware of this trait and incapable of either circumventing it or freeing people from his control. Miquella charmed Leda and co. in the past, but nothing implies this was by accident.

Radahn wasn't "awake" from the start, otherwise the phase transition cutscene wouldn't be Radahn's soul stirring more with a red aura and a clear focus on his eyes, followed by Miquella rushing to override the aura before he's even out of the gate. Radahn's armor notably has chains placed on it too that do nothing to help the armor itself, implying that it's a mark of being controlled. Radahn's initial position at the Gate of Divinity is reminiscent of Samson and the Philistine temple's pillars as well, and the DLC is rife with inspiration from ancient Middle Eastern faiths and cultures. Going back to the game, Miquella even notably has Radahn in the armor he wore and wielding the weapons he had before he was the Starscourge, AKA Radahn before he was at his best. Miquella would have no reason to do this if Radahn was an ally.

>If the player makes it past Leda at Enir Ilim, they're going to try and kill Miquella.
This is so stupid.
We can betray the Golden Order in like half the endings, but for the entirety of the game’s most current, active plotline we get pigeonholed into being anti-Miquella because…?

The unknown demi-god in the Wandering Mausoleum outside of Castle Sol might have supported Miquella's cause, but it's safe to say that the Castle Sol ritual was an attempt to help every victim of the Night of the Black Knives, not just that unknown demi-god or Godwyn. However, to add my two cents to this discussion, considering the emphasis on the person still being "soulless" as opposed to both without a living body and a soul, the ghosts at Castle Sol might be referring to Godwyn. Granted, I'm of the belief that Godwyn's body clearly died shortly after his soul did, but people in the setting seem to think that it's still alive.

Oddly enough, in the Japanese text for Lhutel's Spirit Ashes, the ritual for her demi-god actually did happen and work, and that's why she got an Erdtree burial. It's utterly baffling why this resurrected demi-god, in presumably body and soul alike, doesn't get mentioned ever again though. Maybe just their soul was revived and placed in the Erdtree somehow, but that sure would still be important to note.

>Your theory requires Miquella's blood splashing on him and the blood to have that effect innately, which is a total reach
It's not a theory. We're told that Ansbach realized Mohg was charmed, tried to kill Miquella, and was charmed after dealing a single wound, despite knowing about the charm and actively resisting it. That Ansbach was even able to do that impressed Leda.
>Furthermore, by that standard, the Tarnished would have been charmed just by touching Miquella's arm to even reach the DLC
It would be if Miquella was still "there", but by that point it was a discarded husk. This may have happened when Mohg died (Miquella's arm is up before the fight but lying limply afterward) or much earlier (as Miquella did his journey and abandoned his flesh).
>Miquella knew he was under attack because of how his arm has moved up through and out of the cocoon, the position we initially find it in when entering Mohg's boss room.
It's not clear. Obviously something is happening, but Mohg's rememberance states Miquella never once even reacted to Mohg, so it's possible that the arm was only raised because Mohg was running around his bloodstream.
>Miquella's hand gets near the Tarnished but doesn't make contact, and the spell is visibly starting beforehand.
The animation is Miquella putting his hands on your face. His hands will usually not make direct contact but you have to zoom in to notice the misalignment. From did it this way to avoid Miquella clipping into the player depending on their head size and hat.
>We have no reason to believe that Miquella only incidentally charmed Freyja,
Why would he intentionally do it?
>>
>>736735886
>>736736913
>nor do we have any reason to believe that Miquella is unaware of this trait and incapable of either circumventing it or freeing people from his control.
We know he can't or at least doesn't turn it off even while asleep thanks to the Ansbach incident. Can he break his own charm? Maybe, the game doesn't say. If he could, he wouldn't, because he had no reason to, and it has no negative effects.
>Radahn wasn't "awake" from the start, otherwise the phase transition cutscene wouldn't be Radahn's soul stirring more with a red aura and a clear focus on his eyes,
That's not what the cutscene shows. It shows him being consumed by an ominous red aura before Miquella appears and calms him down. Either Radahn was getting angry that you were kicking his ass and was about to go sicko mode, or the formless mother was starting to influence him via Mohg's blood. Either way, no, Radahn was not "asleep" at the start of the fight, he's standing there on guard waiting for you. He also conspicuously is not charmed at the start of the fight and only is starting from the phase transition cutscene.
>>
>>736736454
It wouldn't be a fight. Miquella could astral project his presense anywhere and Radahn couldn't have his guard up forever, even if he needed to. The vow was two sided, Radahn was a fully willing lord.

The point is that Hewg's existence has apparently long-since been tied to the Erdtree. If the Erdtree burns enough, or at least if the manifestation of the Roundtable Hold does, Hewg will cease to exist, and the process is implied to be on the way to its completion. It's also clear that Roderika has been on the verge of suicide throughout the game and her bond with Hewg is what's keeping her from falling right back into that.

Burning the Erdtree and defeating Maliketh is meant to bring on a lot of doubt, witnessing Hewg miserably dying, Enia being dead but still not free from her duty, and the message that this isn't some method of clearing out the old for the new, you basically killed Roderika along with Hewg. It conveys why people wanted to keep the Erdtree unburned and the Rune of Death sealed, and why Morgott had the views that he did.

The entire final act of the game is basically a gamble that burning the Erdtree and unsealing the rune won't fail to burn the briars while making everything worse, and that it won't just kill everyone or put them in constant torment. The rune itself was notably wielded by someone who created a civilization out of massacring other people and desecrating their corpses for clothing and a form of rank in an elitist hierarchal system. Even the Deathbirds seem to focus on ways to torment people and souls (branchswords, rancor), and the Regal Ancestor Spirit kills souls for its zombie self. Even this ideology in Elden Ring does not want to play ball with the world, and it has its own hypocrisy.
>>
>>736722609
>>736723219
The Erdtree probably continues burning to a point where the Roundtable Hold ceases to exist before the fire goes out, so Hewg and Roderika likely die. Even if Roderika leaves or a fragment exists she can stay in after Hewg is dead, it's heavily implied that she's never far off from being suicidal throughout the story.

At no point does Leda actually try to help people overcome their emotional turmoil or previous bad decisions. Rather than persuading Ansbach that Mohg was a corpse desecrator and his own body being used for Miquella's plans was far more dignified that Mohg would do to others, or that it was a necessity, she leaps to assuming what she wants to assume because it will let her "get to" kill again. Leda likewise doesn't even consider helping the Hornsent with his woes, telling him he can trust Miquella while showing no kindness that Miquella's aims and world would supposedly have, and not even having the decency of sorts to attack after Messmer has been killed. As for attacking the Tarnished, if the Tarnished hasn't met Trina, they could genuinely just be trying to fulfill the plan to meet Miquella, only for Leda to go full-tilt with her paranoid, blessing-hoarding bullshit and trying to murder the Tarnished because she thinks the Tarnished would be praised by Miquella more than her.

It's only when even Miquella is hostile does the Tarnished realize that Miquella does not care to give them the choice to be a follower, but instead forces whatever he thinks would be most convenient for his power consolidation with no self-reflection or hesitation to select such a vicious option. The tragedy of Miquella is how genuinely good and caring he initially was and how much he crumbles in the pursuit of solutions to save everyone. Ultimately, Miquella becomes just another despot wielding power like a cudgel and literally clinging to one of his earliest comforting petty desires like a genuinely young child, and younger than he physically appeared to boot.
>>
>>736739074
You're right about Leda, but
>if the Tarnished hasn't met Trina, they could genuinely just be trying to fulfill the plan to meet Miquella
Is wrong. The tarnished always intended to kill Miquella irrespective of whether he's found Trina, because Miquella is competition. All the dialog surrounding the fight and item descriptions confirm it. You even start to see grace lines pointing you in his direction towards the end of the DLC, irrespective of finfing Trina. The point is to subvert the expectation of Miquella being secretly evil with the twist that your character was the villain.
>It's only when even Miquella is hostile
You are explicitly the aggressor in the fight. By murdering all of Miquella's apostles for simply blocking your way forward, you are admitting you came here to execute him. The tragedy of Miquella is that he was born insufficiently powerful to overcome the whims of warlords.

We're told that Ansbach was charmed after attacking Miquella, but this doesn't mean that Miquella had some innate charm if someone made physical contact with him, nor that Ansbach even touched Miquella as opposed to only a weapon doing so. Miquella's body clearly isn't an irrelevant husk if it's still so rife with power and connected to Miquella that touching the arm warps someone to the Land of Shadow, and if the trait was in Miquella's body and blood, then those are still at Mohgwyn Palace even if his soul is elsewhere. Miquella's arm drops in Mohg's cutscene because Mohg is moving it to leave Miquella's body and begin fighting, the body is clearly limp (aside from rigor mortis) beforehand.

Miquella never reacted to Mohg in the way he was hoping, but clearly Miquella reacted in some way eventually, especially since Mohg would have zero reason to move Miquella's arm like that while as blood in Miquella's body. Also, in light of the DLC, the initial pose for the arm is reminiscent of Miquella's gesture at the end of PCR's phase transition cutscene, and the gesture for the Light of Miquella incantation. There's no misalignment, Miquella clearly isn't making contact in most cases, otherwise the spell's visuals wouldn't show up earlier.

Intentionally charming Freyja gives Miquella another ally after the Battle of Aeonia devastated Elphael's forces. It also helps to have a Redmane now working for him and letting him know what the Redmanes might know. Radahn looks calm in the cutscene, so there's no reason to think he was raging to his detriment, and the gravity magic active in the scene indicates this isn't the Formless Mother's influence. Radahn's own Great Rune is wreathed in a red fire, and the Redmanes even had their own fire pots. The aura is Radahn's own. Radahn isn't standing on guard, the body is soulless until Miquella places the soul in it mid-intro. His soul fragments (the Tarnished has the Remembrance) are charmed the whole time.
