It was a hell of a sensation. I was aware of the Pocket Monsters craze in 1997 and a year later when it released in the states I was fully on board. I've wanted to be a Pokémon Master since I was 23!
gen 2 is special because its the only gen that actively tried to improve upon the previous games and didn't do their own thing.

It wasn't just the game the TV show and cards were all the rage too, pretty much anything with the Pokemon name was flying off the shelves during peak Pokemania.

>>736726083It was popular as fuck when I was a kid. Would run home to watch the anime when it aired. Begged parents to buy me the games and even the cards, although we never played it correctly. Pokemon might still sell decently but it has nowhere near the hype it had back in the late 90s early 00s.
