Unless you are the type to actually take apart game mechanics and get under the hood of challenges and the like it's not much of a "hobby" it's like saying you have the means to do basic house work is a hobby. It's not.

Is this chair a meme?
I'm using a normal kitchen chair atm where the backrest has the same height as picrel, it's just much narrower and has armrests that get in the way and basically no cushion.

Disregard gaming chairs entirely, cheap chinesium shit that will break within a year. Office chairs are designed to be sat on all day. Top of the line but incredibly expensive are Herman Miller. “Gamer” chairs are the funniest and most retarded shit ever.

It LITERALLY dates back to the brief “tuner” or “ricer” fad in the early 2000s. Since the fad was short lived, an Asian manufacturer of all these gay bucket seats, designed for Honda Civics mainly, ended up offloading them to Chinese and Korean Internet cafes. Retarded gooks and chinks then want to replicate the setting they are familiar with at home for their “e sport careers”, so they purchase car seats as “gaming chairs”.

Then of course, the most retarded group of human society, people who watch esports and streamers, copy their idols. It’s one long chain of absolute retardation that led LITERAL car seats into becoming “gaming chairs”.
>>
>>736726630
O don't know if it's true, but I saw a theory that all gaming chairs are originated from the broke company of racing car seats with a lot of stock unsold. They just slapped it to the office chair base and called it "The Gaming Chair". And of course these chairs are very bad for your spine and office chairs are much better. There is no age where gaming chairs are acceptable and not cringe

it's more about overall body movement and spinal alignment/compression shit. Your hips and back need the movement, and even the best ergo chairs can't give you that.

You don't need to do the standing desk shit, but it is important to not only get up and walk around regularly, but also do things like take a little time to sit on the floor, ideally cross-legged, and hang from a pull-up bar for a minute a day. Just little things like that which you can work into your day - 5 min every hour or two is perfectly acceptable

that’s not true at all. the gamer chair is just a car racing seat with some arm rests. I don’t even know why the gamer chair was designed that way, the holes in the bar are for the restraints coming from the roll cage and the tall bolsters are to keep you in the seat during fast turns. the baby car seat does the same except the harness location is different. car racing seats were never intended to be comfortable. I hate sheltered retards that think they’re smart

gamer chairs are retarded by design, they just took racing sim rigs and put the chair on wheels because rich gamers had them since rigs costed upwards of a thousand dollars and some gamers thought they looked cool. it was never the type of thing designed for spending hours sat still in front of a screen, it was meant to keep you in place when you're pulling a few Gs in a fast turn.

I don't regret buying the Herman Miller Embody Embody Logitech gaming edition for one moment. Although i have no idea how it differs from the regular embodies other than having being officially titled "gaming" and i liked the cyan blue and black color scheme so i just went with it.
From my personal experience whatever marketers have said to praise this chair is all true, just instantly comfortable when i sat in it. But since that is such a subjective thing it's probably also not right for some people. You can't really know if you'll like something until you sit in it.
I have no idea how to make that sound any less shilling but i really just love it because there have been very few chairs out there that make me want to sit for long hours gaming. All of them just make me want to get up and stretch my legs because its eventually terrible after time. But not in this case. It was also a big investment for me but i don't regret it now.
I got to walk into a smaller business and test out a few chairs. It was almost a life changing experience for me in some regard for office chairs. Just that good.
But i personally believe it reaches its best comfort levels with the headrest and it just goes from a decent chair that is probably better than most chairs out there to very comfy.
I tried the Aeron and whilst it was more comfortable than i expected it still wasn't what i was looking for because I don't preference of mesh as a material. Tried the Libernovo Omni. Fairly comfortable as well and it has an almost plushy foam heavy feel which is nice and i thought is something that i would preference over the Embodys lack of thick materials. But embody ends up feeling identically comfy to a foam heavy chair and i dont know how to explain that. Omni feels good in fact but the actual chair construction feels like the most cheap Chinese crap that i had to pick the embody over it.
Im summary i think buying a stupid expensive chair was worth it.

Literally same here. The tired unc line of "just wait till you get old, sonny" is very true. Some boomer switch just fucking flips at some point in your 30s and suddenly you have geriatric tier back issues if you've been using unsupportive but "comfy" chairs, couches, and mattress for your whole adult life.

I always thought the fact I went to the gym regularly would magically allow me to STRmaxx my way through stuff, but turns it that was only compounding the issues I was secretly developing. Feels bad man.

While I think it should be called out, I don't think it's fair to call someone a pussy for being scared of disapproval. It's a strong survival instinct often conditioned since early childhood in the unnatural nuclear family, where young people have very few role models growing up, and may be stuck for more than a decade with a couple closed-minded guardians (who in turn had few role models themselves). This is not to say that society shouldn't relax more, though!
>>

Anything with decent padding and a high back. It is possible to get a decent gaming chair. That said, throw an extra seat cushion on it and put a soft blanket over top of it that you can pull off and wash. These together will keep it comfortable and clean for longer.

Overpriced yes.
But i went through numerous chairs to find most felt unsatisfying to sit in compared to this one. It's really forgiving to how you want to sit in it in general.
So even if you're not practicing the best posture it doesn't hurt when that happens either.
At least that depends on your exact body shape and build as to whether it will either be the best fit or something that doesn't work. Fortunately for me it was perfect. Not a meme if you somehow fall into a specific category of where the chair works best.

One of my favorite games of all time is called Secrets of Grindea and it's an openly and earnestly childish game that made me feel like I was on a magical adventure again just like when I was a wee lad, instead of what most modern games make me feel now - being in a LARP set with a bunch of californians.

Most of that game's characters are named as rudimentary puns (there's a character named Ledge who just always looks at others over a ledge and comments on things), the entire setting is just "We're literally not even pretending this isn't a murderhobo world where you're either an adventurer or a service worker servicing adventurers", and it does so with earnesty. It's not trying to act subversive (except for one plot reveal that was absolute evil dogshit but it didn't manage to ruin the rest of the game for me), not trying to be "self-aware", it just has fun with its childishness and that's what I love about it. Fuck being mature, maturity in entertainment is for midwits. I was happier as a child and I want my entertainment to make me happy.
>>
My current chair is angled way too much to the back that if I recline, I pretty much lay on a 150° angle. Needless to say, I have no vertical support whatsoever. The chair is also more than 2 years old already and it's already starting to peel, so I need to start looking for a replacement that actually offers me good back support and a proper headrest since I'm 6'2".
>>
>>736727972
More important than the chair is having a height adjustable desk and setting it low enough that your shoulders are relaxed, upper arms straight and palms horizontally aligned with forearms.
This matters cuz chair height adjustment by itself isn't enough. You want your legs to rest at a perfect 90deg angle.
That said HM Aeron fucks. I love this overpriced piece of luxury

That can't be right.
I walked into an office supplier and sat in one and it was goddamn awful after like 15-20 mins.
But since the HM Aeron is the common recommendation you hear on here i suppose i could see that one just not working at all for some people because of the enforced sitting position.
I had to go in the opposite direction myself to not ever be forced into a position that i don't like and finding the specific chair that accounts for me being lazy when i want to be. But i am hard pressed to think how the dx racer would be comfortable at all and perhaps enforced posture is better than that posture fucking trap racing chair.

>the whole world has become a consumerist slop meme, literally
ftfy. Consumerism has become a terminal infection with online stores filled with nothing but low quality trash passed around as "affordable options from small manufacturers". Gaming chairs, to stay on-topic, is just another symptom when I see them being sold in chinese variety stores of all things.
>>
>>736726630
Games are only bad if they prevent you from maintaining healthy levels of physical activity, or get in the way of your responsibilities.
People are having an instinctual reaction to men who sit in front of a screen, and video games are an easy target for normies because they probably don't understand the appeal of the game you're playing as well as they understand the appeal of social media or a show. But if you take care of your body and your responsibilities as a man, it doesn't matter how much you play.

there's a reason for that

Also if you're like 6'+ it prob won't be the comfiest footrest to actually use. But otherwise I like it. A tiny bit wider than a lot of chairs so I can sit cross legged too when I want. On sale for $90 right now.

>Go to Staples so I can sit on the office chairs there and see if I like any
>Most are too stiff for me to find comfortable
>Find one I really really like, it's soft enough to relax in
>Take a picture of the chair and the tag and go home
>It was the same chair as the one I have right now, just not broken

You should actually laundry your earpads man. Place it in one of those bags you use for fragile fabrics just in case. The more you leave the grime, the harder it is to clean it later. I clean mine once every 2 months but when summer arrives I'll probably switch to monthly or everytime I clean my pillow cover which is like once per week.

Its crazy seeing overpriced mesh chairs. Like its such a simple concept and i imagine it uses less material, so it never made sense to me.

You should instead thank yourself for not being a slob. Also the DT770 earpads can be easily removed so stay clean man. You're eventually going to get a nasty pimple around your ears if you leave all that gunk.

Do we have some data on how gamer chair performs in a crash test?

Do gaming chairs save a child's life? I don't get it.
I know that the intent is to ridicule gaming chairs for being juvenile and shameful, but this strikes me as a really weak and gay comparison to make.
Office chairs are better and look less gay, I get that, so just say that instead.

What a bizarre thing to occur. How is that even possible?
I've seen a lot of people type out dramatic stories about the embody being something that hurts them and i just cannot report the same thing.
It feels like I'm sitting on a different chair compared to what a reviewer says.
>>736748226
Massage thing just felt gimmicky that it made me look down on the chair despite it feeling comfortable. I do not like any bloat on design.
>>736756327
I'll have to check those out. I think the arm rests are alright okay for what they are. Although the Aeron probably had the most comfortable ones.

No matter how long you sit or stand every day, remember to do some squats each day. You need strength exercise to maintain your leg muscles when you age.
