Notice that most igavania fags hate real castlevania
yeah, they're different types of games. the only classic castlevania I cared for was the first one.
>>736741971I like both Classics and Igavanias. The only CV I did not like was the Wii fighting game because the designs were too homo erotic.
>>736742081Don't know where the notion of classicvania being super hard comes from. Cv1 is relatively fair for nes standards. US cv3 is bullshit and bloodlines is hard but the rest are really just trial and error
>>736742565Haven't played any other igavanias other than sotn but that game would benefit from being harder. The games a cake walk after the first hour
My favorite is Circle of the Moon, which is not an igavania. But I like igavanias too. I'm going to play an igavania next: castlevania chronicles. Apparently it even has an interview from iga in the game.
>>736741971No I don't. You're acting like Igavania fans are Hollow Knight fags.
>>736742929Does chronicles count as igavania? Isn't it just a port with an easy mode
>>736741971Metroidvanias obviously have different appeal to linear platformers. I like both, but there are enough Castlevania games of both types that I don't like.
>>736742565You know CV1 let you save in Japan since it was an FDS game, right? CV over here didn't have that luxury and thus was way harder.
I like them all because I enjoy videogames
>>736744949you can literally beat the entire game in 15 minutes
>>736744512Then why does it have an interview from the man?
>>736741971>Notice that most igavania fags hate real castlevaniaNo, noticed that people who want sow hatred between fans of the games like the cartoons.
Why the pointless shitflinging over Castlevania? Anybody who cares about this franchise is in their 30s at a minimum, there's no reason for it.
>>736741971Not my fault your favorite franchise decided to make 1 game that's a completely different genre and it does way better than the rest of the series. Happened to Resident Evil and God of War. Can't blame people for liking the better genre.
>>736745035Yeah if you're already good at it and play it a lot.
>>736744949>unlimited continues makes it harder than savingReplaying stages 1-4 really isn't that hard once you learn them.
I love both styles. I made an entire classicvania game and then never released it, only shared it with my friends.
>>736745589if you have to turn off the game you lose all your progress. If you save that progress is retained.Just takes a little bit of thinking.
>>736745229 or netflix fags
>>736745196I mean that classic fans also like iga for the most part and iga fans don't like classic for the most part
>>736741971They play differently.
somewhat unrelated but I just played pic related and never realized how many sprites in sotn are ripped straight from this game
>>736741971As someone who started with Aria I only hate Rondo specifically, CVI III and Bloodlines are the best ones>>736744512Both original mode and arranged mode are classicvania, but arranged mode is too easy and has shit music>>736745196Divide et impera strategyto distract from the elephant in the room: the shitflix show>>736745229I was 28 until one week ago
>>736746517No, Netflix fans don't like Iga and latch on classic fans. The cartoon isn't bad because it wasn't faithful to Iga's lore. It was bad because it was fucking dogshit written by redditors.
>>736741971No I don't.
>>736741971I respect the classic CV games but they are not really my thingI enjoyed IV the most
>>736741971Real classicvania is N64
>>736745802It's harder that the game always starts from level 1 when it's booted up, yes. Kids realized quick that they should just leave it on over night if they think they'll beat the game tomorrow.
>>736742565The Gameboy games are also pretty hard
I think Classicvania is as overrated as the original Metroid. Innovation does not always equate to good or fun.
>>736748314Who overrates the original Metroid? It's considered an ambitious but dated gameEven the second one is way more enjoyable to play
>>736746698>I only hate Rondo specificallysurely you played the crappy SNES version and not the original one?
>>736748281"Just use more electricity it's the same thing bro"Absolute biggest retard if you think Unlimited Continues is the exact same thing as game saving.
I enjoyed the classic games a lot even though I suck and have to be a save scumming faggot. Only played SotN so far for the Iga/Metroidvania games.
>>736748463Go ahead and point out where I said those two are the exact same thing. That'll probably be hard, especially since the post you're replying to explicitly says one is harder.
>>736741971Order of Ecclesia is as hard if not harder than multiple Classicvanias
>>736748747>metroidvaniaslop>hardPfft
>>736749235t. hasn't played it
>>736746698Do you like super more than rondo?
Is the gba or ds collection worth it? I generally prefer the metroid part of metroidvania. How good is the haunted castle remake?
>>736748747There are some hard parts, but that's mostly a couple bosses with cranked stats. The game itself isn't bad and lets you just level up past any difficulty.
FUCK THIS LEVEL
>>736749583Shit like this is why I hate Castlevania 3 and consider it one of the worst in the series
>>736749557Bosses are obviously the hardest part of any CV game>lets you just level up past any difficultyGood luck trying to cheese past Dracula like that
>>736742565You can beat most Classicvanias in an afternoon though beating them without a game over which is a “true completion” I guess is still hard. I’ve only beaten Rondo and 4 without a game over.
Despite the insinuations of some try-hards, the hallway before death IS utterly inexcusable.
I beat SotN without knowing about shield combos and then on a replay when I knew about them I felt like I just unlocked super duper easy mode because the game was still easy without them. Only the final Dracula fight was slightly hard.
>>736749874I brought up the bosses because the normal enemies and levels you need to complete for the true ending aren't that hard. Dracula isn't easy, but increasing your HP and attack power obviously makes him easier to beat.
>>736741971Rondo is the most casual and braindead entry though
I like most of the classicvanias though I hated all the GB games and 2.
>notice how I have to make up bullshit to create a fake rivalry for retards to argue about?you’re brown
>>736750141The Gameboy games are crap though I heard the Wiiware remake of Adventure was good
>>736741971I don't. I've always preferred them. But I've also always been really fond of the classic games. I also very much hope the release of Scarlet Engagement will give us a third Curse of the Moon game.
Simon Quest needs a remake
>>736741971Iga never made a single castlevania game. It's like Inafune claiming he invented mega man.
>>736749583There's a section like that in CV4 too.
>>736750351A mix of CotM/PoR combo with a Belmont-like and a Soma(?)-like does sound like a winning strategy even if it is partially derivative. But honestly, if I'm playing a Castlevania, I don't really mind derivative as long as it's a fun time.Otherwise I'd have a lot to say about a lot of this franchise, IGA and Classic both.
>>736750085Thats super castlevania
I'd like rondo a lot more if the game wasn't seemingly designed for you to use the sub weapon crash to cheese most of the bosses
>>736750401it already has like three fan remakes
The 3d games are better than classic and metroidvania
>>736753749Weird how I almost never see people talk about the PS2 games
You now remember when they made a Wii Fighting game with the Death Note artist
>>736750543Not really, its right at the end of the game, there's a checkpoint right at it, and it only goes for like 10 seconds tops. The Castlevania 3 one goes on forever, if you wait it out its like a whole minute. Worse still, once you have the pattern down it isn't even challenging, its just hopping between two blocks until its over.
>>736750543Cv4 section is a quick 10 second puzzle
>>736750085at least until you get to the boss gauntlet leading up to Shaft at which point the game firmly plants its foot on your nuts and presses down out of nowhere
You DID play Castlevania 1 on Easter didn't you anon?
>>736753749Lament is shockingly half-assed, even compared to other contemporary PS2 games. They made each area by copy-pasting the same two rooms over and over, and subweapon abilities were lazily slapped on top of the whip combat system. Generally the 3D Castlevania games are okay, except 64, but none of them are as tightly designed or compelling as Castlevania 1.
>>736741971I was one of those people back in the early-aughts to whom this game was a holy grail, and I bought a PSP with my own money + Dracula X Chronicles JUST to finally play this game. At the time I had 0 regrets. Now, I think it's kind of overrated, and its reputation is inflated by the kind of person I used to be. I might genuinely prefer the SNES game even if people will call me contrarian for it. I had a fucking ball when I played it last, four or five years ago, whereas I tried to start Rondo around the same time and got bored pretty quick.
>>736763191SAMEFAGGING TO ELABORATE SO I CAN KEEP TALKING CLASSICVANIA CAPS LOCK IS CRUISE CONTROL FOR COOLDracula X SNES gets a bad rap, real talk. I think if you liked the sort of challenge presented by CV3 NES, you'd like this game. It has a similar "flow" to it, the way you find a rhythm within the enemy placements and patterns to keep making headway, the way it rewards a sort of persistence but patience at the same time. Rondo by comparison felt like it leaned a little harder into its adventure game-y stuff with the optional paths and pseudo-puzzles that lead to them, while enemy placements themselves were less of a thing in favor of indefinite spawn points which I honestly thought were pretty lame.
>>736760457Its not that hard. My strat has always been beat the bat and medusa taking minimal damage and not using hearts. item crash mummy and frankenstein. Then shaft is pretty easy
>>736767240still a pretty notable difficulty spike compared to the prior rest of the game to even require a strat like that. I've beaten the game but replaying it every few years, it still manages to catch me by surprise.
>>736748747level 1 hard OoE is some of the most fun i've ever had with a video game. eligor can blow me however
>>736765962I agree wholeheartedly that the infinite spawn points suck but I'm really into the adventure half of Rondo. Finding a new route every time I played kept that game fresh and alive for me for quite a long time.I'm also with you that Dracula X ain't as bad as everybody proclaims (I fucking hate it's Dracula fight, though. I always will.) but I'm still partial to Rondo, personally. Yeah, it's easier for sure, but I don't mind the easier aspect of it because it was pretty damn ambitious all the same.
If only they liked CastleKINO
>>736749907I've only really played 1, Rondo and 4 so far, and funnily despite 4's reputation for being easier, trying to 1cc it filtered me cause of the late game BS in a longer game, where CV1 is basically just keeping and abusing triple cross.Fuck the rng bridge, and that horrible falling stair tower!
>>736769112You're speaking to that part of me that was in glee finally getting to play the game in 2007, and I appreciate that. The Dracula fight was where I made my concession in my 1cc rule when I played Dracula X SNES; when it said "game over," I was fucking DONE, and I made sure to restart from the very beginning the next time I played. I think that's a big factor in why I built up such a strong affinity towards the game, because I got to see how my approach to every stage developed with each run. I recommend anybody play the game that way. But when it came to Dracula, LMAO no, I abused continues till the fucking cows came home.
>>736741971love em both just about equally tbqh. I almost consider them to be different series.
>>736769653>4's reputation for being easierThis is a total meme and I don't know how it still gets perpetuated. It's like people didn't even play the fucking game.IV may be poorly designed, sure, but it's definitely not easy. Being able to mindlessly cheese some things doesn't mean you can cheese every single thing.
OP is a zoomer faggot pretending to be a real fan.
>>736741971Thats not true. Why do you autists constsntly need.to try and create some sort of rivalry between fans of the same series?
>>736742903>Haven't played any other igavanias other than sotn>>736745261>1 game that's a completely different genre>>736748578>I enjoyed the classic games a lot even though I suck and have to be a save scumming faggot. Only played SotN so far for the Iga/Metroidvania games.>>736769653>I've only really played 1, Rondo and 4Why is secondary scum such a pervasive and constant plague on Castlevania threads? Does anyone in this thread actually like this series?
>>736749583I can't even do this on the Japanese version with Grant. Could not even imagine doing it on the USA version
>>736749583>has Alucard in the wings and 15 heartsnigga...
>>736769445>>736760594>>736755874The right Castlevania (yes, death god too)
>>736741971Not at all. Overall I prefer igavanias but Rondo is my number one game in the series.
SotN and Ecclesia are the only igavanias I played and dropped them both.CV1 and Rondo are goated games. JP CV3 and Bloodlines are ok, wish Bloodlines didn't have passwords and just let me start levels again with 3 lives. 4 kinda sucks. Haunted Mansion remake is nice.
>>736750141>>736750275You did not play the Game Boy games. Belmont's Revenge is fantastic. ReBirth is damn good (despite being falsely advertised as a remake) but it's still not as good as Belmont's Revenge.
>>736771004>JP CV3 and Bloodlines are okYou're a pussy but you probably already know that. When fans of the series refer to 3 being the best, they're always talking about the American release. Bloodlines is also one of the better games in the series, it has probably the coolest Dracula fight in the whole series.
>>736771321>When fans of the series refer to 3 being the best, they're always talking about the American release. No they fucking don't. The Japanese version is objectively better despite being easier. The US version has some overall unimportant improvements which don't excuse the way it butchers most other things.>Bloodlines>has probably the coolest Dracula fight in the whole series. The fuck? You're just yapping total nonsense at this point.I hope I'm not responding to a bot because that's what this post feels like.
>>736771669>The Japanese version is objectively better despite being easier.>overall unimportant improvementsJust admit that you're a fairy already dude. You can't hang with the OGs.
>>736771942Lmao cope. I wouldn't have said the "easier" Japanese version is true for something like Contra Hard Corps - the US version of Cv3 really is just a butchered hackjob. No, the password cheat codes and extra loop features don't excuse dogshit subweapon placements. Fuck outta here.
>>736772252>trueMean "better", no idea how I fucked that up
>>736769445This game gave me a monstergirl fetish.
>Metroidvanias>Fun, genre defining, modest platforms with deeper mechanics>Castlevania>A horrible platformerain't that difficult m8
>>736772316It's alright sukhmandeep, you try as hard as you can.
>>736772708Honestly you could have saved face if you hadn't replied at all. Now I know you have nothing to say and I accept your concession.
>>736771321>When fans of the series refer to 3 being the bestThose are posers, not actual fans.
