Rusty Bucket Bay engine room sucks, am I right folks?
>>
>>736743054
Better then mario 64
>>
Does the recomp have any notable improvements over just emulating it? Are romhacks playable on it?
>>
>>736743054
It's kooky crazy zany whimsy bizarre just like my western cartoons
>>
It's mediocre and has too many gimmicky minigames.
>>
>>736743641
Jiggies of Time and Nostalgia 64 are available for Recomp. I can't comment on Nostalgia 64, but Jiggies of Time is overall a decent time. It's cute seeing familiar OoT locations and Zelda music adapted to the Banjo-Kazooie style (they're not just texture swaps or soundfont swaps of OoT's stuff, they're actually adjusted to be appropriate to BK). Word of warning though: PLAY WITH NOTE LOSS DISABLED. The levels are kinda big, so it's gonna suck re-grabbing notes if and when you die.
>>
>>736743054
It's definitely not the best platformer on the N64, but it's interesting to see the wildly different areas, get new moves and find some new objective besides just running and jumping to a certain place.
>>
It's a game that I enjoyed more on a replay years later than I did the first time around.
Funny thing is that when I first played it I hated the woods level with the seasons and when I replayed it ended up loving it.

Tooie was unironically better
>>
>>736744223
but enough about DK64
>>
>>736744223
That's the sequel.
>>736744395
It's a very breezy game to replay, each world can be hammered out in a half hour give or take and you're never too far away from any given objective.

BK is a perfect game in my opinion.
My only criticism would be the existence of two "rusty" looking levels.
I'll keep Clanker's cavern for originality over Rusty Bucket Bay, and switch the latter for something else more colorful and less industrial.
>>
>>736743054
Kazooie and Tooie are some of the greatest games ever released. The evercade ports coming are apparently 60fps with a shit load pf other improvements according to a speedrunner
>>736743641
>no fps cap
>note saving (and jinjo saving in a branch thats yet to be added to main yet byt its complete)
>draw distance mod (newest version is in the recomp Discord for some reason as the author isnt ready to release it, even though it works completely for vanilla)
>QOL mods
>rom hacks can be ported over, right now we have Jiggies of Time, Nostalgia 64, and Banjo-Dreamie but more are coming
Recomp is the best way to play the first game rn, not sure what the evercade ports are going to add or change but apparently theyre doing a lot of work behind the scenes, and theyre not based on the botched Xbox ports so itll be interesting to see what they do.
>>
>>736744738
>discord
It always comes down to this, huh?
The improvements sound nice, but i really dont want to make a discord account.
>>
>>736744683
I never really thought about Clanker's Cavern and Rusty Bucket Bay as being too similar before, but I can see it. The vibe between the two of them was distinct enough for me. I always thought Banjo not shying away from more dingy level aesthetics was a strength and helped make the jollier levels feel more fantastic.
>>
>>736745145
Rare games tend to have themes involving pollution and corporate greed. You also see it in Tooie with Grunty Industries.
>>
>>736745364
It's because the games were made by disgruntled British employees working for peanuts. Conker is also all about a working class guy getting screwed over by rich people.

Here fren, the world is at your fingertips

https://thunderstore.io/c/banjo-recompiled/?ordering=newest

You may need to watch a short youtube tutorial on how to install the mods but it's as easy as just unzipping them and dragging them into your mods folder. Oh yeah, and you need to toggle the camera settings to "analogue" as soon as you start the recomp, to get the better modern camera controls

Easily the best way there's EVER been to play BK. Have fun kiddo <3

Man I hope Banjo-Tooie recompiled becomes a thing too.
>>
>>736748572
There's a sort of sunk cost at that point where you might as well just fight one last boss to finish it. It's decently fun, and at that point you literally have the ability to be invincible on command so you're not likely to have a hard time.
>>
>>736746575
I always thought it'd be cool if Nipper was a recurring boss in most games, where he keeps showing up repeatedly but with a brand new shell every time that have their own gimmicks

For me, it's Treasure Trove Cove.

Level ideas for Threeie (repost from last time)

>canyon level
>big city/urban level
>space level (properly)
>medieval castle/fanasty
>food/candy level (but only if they find a way to make the premise less stupid)
>radioactive/nuclear/mutant monsters level
>another take on a sky level without the same themeing as cloud cuckooland couldn't hurt
>mushroom world (or as a large sub-area)
>wild west level (properly)
>inside an insect colony level
>level inside someone's dreams
>>
>>736751213
>inside an insect colony level
That's the first level of BK.
>>
>>736751437
And BT reused the industrial level archtype, you can spin that archtype into something new.
>>
>>736743054
A lot of its music is based on the Second Finale of the Threepenny Opera

Next you'll tell me Banjo-Kazooie had a shed-themed level already because Mad Monster Mansion had a shed in it

A forest in the process of being polluted and logged would be a great way to do the next "capitalism is bad" stage, the contrast with the peaceful nature forest aras would be nice

Still waiting for a texture pack that recreates the soulful N64 render HUD icon.

how did they fuck it up this badly
>>
>>736743054
Banjo was never good
>>
>>736752739
They did not have access to the high quality promotionao models, they had to use the N64 models to make it
>>
>>736752845
Yeah bu still, even if you have to re-do it from scratch just from looking at the n64 one, you should be able to see it's completely different and crap
>>
I'm going to play Banjo Tooie on Xbox...
>>
>>736751972
At this point I'd even settle for someone using renders of the SSBU models' heads (but made shinier and color-corrected to match the OG renders)
>>
>>736752802
Why? What about the series do you object to? Were you offended when Grunty says "wench" or something? Do you think Mumbo is a racist stereotype? I genuinely can't imagine what else there is to complain about.
>>

There is a part set inside an insect colony, but that's one room, not the entire level.

>>736756014
The actual story is the Stamper brothers betrayed and sold off their own company against the wishes of literally everyone
>>
>>736743054
i found it boring and just regurgitating mario 64 worlds/puzzles but with more collecting. not as bad as dk64 ended up, but i didnt really care for bk1 or 2.
>>
>>736757228
That's what it means to start a company. Yes I know it sucks for everyone but when you and your buds set out to create a juggernaut company and succeed, the goal is to cash out.
>>
HEY KAZOOIE WE'RE IN MINECRAFT
>>
>>736757276
SM64 got 3 things over Banjo at least

>mobility is obviously way better
>6 more levels than Banjo has (plus tons of secret stages)
>you can skip a shitton of stars/levels and still beat the game, so if you don't like certain content you can just skip it
>>
Look guys it took like 25 minutes to get any jiggy but the first one in each level of BT. Very expansive and wondrous large scale adventure game but my fucking god. In BK when you enter a level its like 'oh boy look at all this shit i get to collect in the most fun way i can' but in BT its like 'oh fuck me how far of a hole do i have to dig myself into just to find out there's some wall i dont have the key for yet and i get nothing' and so on
>>
>>736749494
>You may need to watch a short youtube tutorial.
>It's easy
Yeah no I ain't falling for this shit ever again, I once tried to emulate Asuras Wrath on my PC the results were just me losing 40 minutes of my life and almost learning coding during the installation.
Emulating is gay as fuck, I can see why normies choose consoles and look at you PC fags the same way you would look at a retarded person on the streets.
>>
>>736758368
Then suffer in the darkness of ignorance
>>
>>736757717
The greatest mercy in Tooie is they massively lowered how many Jiggies you needed to finish the game, so it was fine to just ignore a shitty one.

Mario 64 is still undefeated in nonlinearity and player freedom. Even Odyssey which has the best 3D movement of any game ever is squandered by being a linear game where you go through levels in a strict order for the most part. In 64, only 1 star is mandatory
>>
>>736749686
I actually have beat the final boss once, it’s just every time I replay it, I only want to do the platforming
>>
>>736765198
Personally, I hate the final boss because I hate the beak bomb section.
>>
>>736765198
Okay, then it doesn't matter much. I'd replay Banjo-Kazooie because the levels were fun, not because of the boss battles.
>>
>>736749494
You don't need to unzip them
You download the mod, then open the recomp, go to the mod menu, click "install mod" then double click the .zip you just downloaded
If you need a YouTube tutorial for that you're clinically retarded for real
