The level design was clearly way above all these other games like LoP or LotF, and the magic spells were actually pretty varied and strong. Usually you get a piece of info or key in one area that you have to use elsewhere. Dungeons are mostly combat focused but there's a big one with environmental puzzles. Anguished Guardian was cool if a little easy but he's still one of the better "large" fights and is better than fire giant imo.
