>barely any players on Steam even in the most famous games
People say fighting games are dead but I say rhythm games are even more dead.

I've only ever played Osu/EBA/Muse Dash and want to get into a proper rhythm game. Is djmax a good option to start out? I want a modern game mind you, already tried some very old beatmania and it was kinda dated.
>>
They're single player. Who cares if they're "dead"?
>>
>>736774803
Wanna know how I know you haven't played any modern rhythm game? They are all always online nowadays.
>>
>>736774902
Got me. I haven't played any.
>>
>>736774941
Yep, and we are probably not getting any new games. Hence why the genre is dead.
>>
>>736774803
DDR is multiplayer and a ton of fun if you play with someone close to your skill level
>>
>>736774702
Well you have nothing interesting to say about them and made an extremely low effort validation seeking thread so that's a clue as to why they are dead

We just got rhythm doctor, which was a massive success.
>>
>>736774702
>on Steam
Lol. Go to the arcade nigga. Or play on simulator any song for free if you have the gear
Rhythm games are thriving in the arcade. And the pic related you posted is from that tranny singaporean jewtuber tokaku, of course xe will overrate rhythm doctor
>>736774996
>taiko 2026 everywhere
>maimai deluxe everywhere
>arcaea and miku getting near daily updates
>bemani staples like iidx and sound voltex still around and strong
you're a non
>>
>>736774702
>cytus 2 over cytus 1 and deemo
I lol'd
>>
>>736775528
What if I don't want to go to the arcade? What are my options on Steam?
>>
>>736774702
>souls like "superrhardcoreaming"
>3 attacks per 10 seconds, infinite rolls and parry
>rhythm games
>5 minutes of perfect parrying 200 hits non stop.
Gee, I wonder why.
>>
>>736775634
>What if I don't want to go to the arcade?
Then you're a broke fat faggit.
>What are my options on Steam?
Hatsune Miku or taiko, but you can play simulators which have all of the songs and thousands more for free
>>
>>736775694
>but you can play simulators which have all of the songs and thousands more for free
What are you talking about?
>>
>>736775660
>boot up battletoads
>normans always talk about the skateboard level like it's the hardest challenge in gaming
>play it
>it's the same difficulty as an ez mode tutorial in a 4 key rhythm game
>>
>>736774702
Maybe try RJ01212921

>1ccd a couple of touhou games
>bullet hell segments in other games became a joke
Touhou and rhythm games give you vidya super powers. It's insane how much they translate to other games.
>>
>>736775730
Opentaiko/tjaplayer3 or osu unironically
and there are ones for beatmania, guitar hero, every game. a game is just a collection of charts, a simulator let's you play any chart you find from the internet and usually has better QoL features like higher FPS support etc

arcade is still the best because the shitty peripheral you have at home is never quite the same, but simulator is better for practicing and the skills transfer
>>
>>736775853
it's funny that touhou songs became a standard rhythm game genre where every game has it right next to jpop and vocaloid
>>
>>736775749
Battlechodes only really starts to get difficult at around the level 8 boss
>>
>>736775928
First thing I do any time the arcade closest to me imports a new rhythm game is play cirno's perfect math class on it
>>
I don't even play rhythm games that often, but they are the only genre that makes me feel joy while I play.
>>
>>736774702
fighting games and rhythm games are the same genre
>>
They're just difficult games to talk about, especially popular mobile ones with English versions like Arcaea and Pjsekai, because autistic children gravitate towards them as hard as they do for shit like Roblox, FNaF, Undertale, etc and make discussion unbearable but they're fun to play on your own
>>
>>736775853
Boy I sure hope you mean lunatic and aren't severely mentally retarded or something
>>
>>736776292
No, I meant on normal.

I like Fortnite Festival.
I just wish it had more/better songs
>>
>>736774702
They're pretty difficult and if you don't like the soundtrack included you're kinda fucked.
Out of interest, why is project diva so low on that list? I'd have said that's better than Muse Dash and MaxRespect
>>
the summer of 2012 where me and my 2 best friends spent the whole summer perfecting every song on rock band 2 is my most prized memory of my teen years
>>

Sure thing neighbor

>want to get back playing DJmax Respect
>buying all the dlcs costs almost as much as a gpu or console
Fucking gooks man.
>>
>>736776148
>fighting games and rhythm games are the same genre
Fighting games are real time rock paper scissors. Takes no skill
Every single player game is either a rhythm game or a movie game
>>
>>736776395
It's in the "haven't played yet" tier
>>
>>736774702
it's been like a year since I last touched beat saber. I don't use a ton of wrist action so it ends up being hard on my rotator cuffs. Been even longer since I broke out my cobalt flux and did any stepmania.

maybe in the skiing offseason I'll hook it back up
>>
Where's Audiosurf 2?
>>
>>736774702
I'm going to Japan, anything I should try to play?
>>
>>736774702
what would you want to talk about? there isn't much to since most discussion is just blog posting
the games themselves are doing fine with arcades and emulators though
>>
>>736776292
Lunatic is easier because the higher density makes it easier to find the safe paths between bullets.
>>
>>736777947
In terms of difficulty normal<korean bpm simulators<sans from undertale<hard/easier arcade shmups<lunatic/typical arcade 1-alls<2-alls<competitive minecraft
>>
>>736776159
I feel like the PJSK fanbase doesn't even play the game
All they care about is the characters/story
>>
>>736777152
Ongeki
>>
>>736778706
Well yeah autistic children don't play any of the games they're fans of, at most they watch their favorite steamer play them once or twice then spend an afternoon reading a wiki and then join a discord or subreddit and make it their whole personality for the next 4-5 years
>>
>>736776346
I wish I could install it without the rest of Fortnite and 100+ fucking GB
>>
>>736774702
>open tier list
>no mad rat
Pathetic...
>>
I found my old instruments but most everything is dead except my ugly Wii Fisher Price 3rd party Guitar, PS3 Pro Drums and PS4 RB4 or 5 or whatever guitar works but I HATE RB strum bars so whatever.

I lost my 360 and gamertag with like $700 worth of DLC but most of that was from my friends who chipped in for songs they wanted us to play. The hundreds of times we played Metallica songs with like a 2 minute intro of Guitar only still haunts me.
>>
>>736774729
djmax is a great starting point. there's a shitload of dlc though
>>
>>736777152
>easy to find
ongeki, jubeat, chunithm, popn music, music diver
>harder to find
groove coaster, bishi bashi, rhythm heaven, project diva
>mid but kinda neat
museca, wacca, keyboardmania
>>
>>736779287
you can find cheap edrums on ebay and facebook and i've seen quite a few guitars on sale recently
>>
>>736776346
It needs a practice mode is what it needs. Plus it needs to offer bundles of songs for a better price. 5 dollars a song is fucked.
>>
>>736774702
>Unbeatable
>S tier
Thanks anon for letting me know that your opinion is absolute dogshit!
>>
>rhythm games
>relies more on visual cues and timing than the actual rhythm
How do we fix this?
>>
>>736774702
Where is necrodancer nigger
>>
>>736774729
There's always Quaver which is beatmania but updated.
>>736774702
They don't release on steam; the always release it on a console I have no interest in beyond that game. Their accessories to make them playable outside of support is too expensive etc etc etc. Rhythm games are a very fucking Niché game genre because of how hard it is to market and certain licensing based decisions that restrict gamers from playing the game. Don't forget the most autistic decision was to make Gacha rhythm games like Love Live into a EoS type of deal where if it goes out you can't play it. Like fuck that shit.
>>
>>736774702
the arcade I go to always got some guy going crazy on Chunithm so they're actually doing fine

I always forget to get the DJMAX DLC on sale and I still pay for konaste SDVX even though you can apparently play for free
>>
>>736780940
I unironically love rhythm heaven for this
>>
>>736780940
The notes should follow the tempo and specific instrument so you can "hear" the notes and press on time.
>>
Free: Stepmania, Osu!, K-Shoot Mania (free SDVX)
Steam: SRXD (indie SDVX), Tapsonic Bold (Korean Beatmania)
