It gives you a whole skill tree with special moves and attacks, but then the average encounter is trivially and fastest solved by holding heavy attack until the chaff dots disappear from the minimap. So naturally you'd assume "oh, so these moves are for bosses!", but then bosses are almost puzzles in that they want these out of the box solutions and specific approaches, otherwise they'll either beat your ass, take forever, or in some cases never end. The amount of straight up "fair" fights that make use of and require the character's skillset with minimal gimmicks is actually pretty low, all things considered.
