>Splatoon Raiders has been rated by PEGI
HAPPINESS!
>>
>>736787046
It's because they want to harvest data off people's phones, the same reason why you can't use Nintendo Music on the console itself and need the mobile app for it.

It's actually one of their scummier recent moves that people don't understand the implications of.
>>
>>736787002
pls be offline open world singleplayer
>>
>>736788678
Do you have something to hide poor little snoy? :) Everyone already harvest them, why is it suddenly wrong when Nintendo does it?
>>
>>736787002
Who are you pegging?
>>
>>736789069
When (you) become the product after you pay for a product, something has gone wrong. Game consoles tracking what you do on them is fine, well this trend of built in microphones makes it a little less fine because your Dualsense and Switch 2 are going to be listening to you, but when they also want to track what you're doing off the console that becomes a bit more problematic. A company line Sony can use that for their dynamic pricing and in general, your information is probably getting sold to make these corporations more money.
>>
>>736787256
You joke but that's probably one of the reasons the new president wants to move away from directs, along with the possible data harvesting.
>>
>>736787002
Great! Only game that's left is Fire Emblem for me.
>>
>>736787002
The rating doesn’t mention in game purchases or any reference to internet connection, so probably it’s a offline single player game
>>
>>736789939
It’s two articles but FE was also rated beside Splatoon, it’s PEGI 12

>>736787441
hopefully it is
i imagine they must know how much people love playing salmon runs, so there should at least be an optional pve co op mode
>>
>>736787441
The ratings don't mention online interactions so probably not.
>>
FE also has updated from a provisional 12 to a firm 12, does that mean anything
>>
>>736792332
It means PEGI had a question about part of the game that would have swung the game towards a different rating that they got an answer for. Be that Intelligent Systems providing more info clarifying it or agreeing to change something.
>>
What if it's like Nintendo's Don't Starve? But with squids and machines and mechs.
>>
no usk rating = game isnt even done
>>
>>736792439

>>
>>736787046
I think there's a balance to be made where announcements that'd be overshadowed in a direct, stuff like that new Yoshi game or release date trailers, could be shadowdropped on the app, youtube, etc. whilst leaving directs for bigger announcements and new games.

Selling your data to third parties, essentially monetizing that app at the cost of your privacy.

Using the data in order to build a profile on you in order to advertise to you better, an example I gave in a followup post is that with Sony's new dynamic pricing you could end up paying more money because the company knows you can afford it. They can also judge how interested you are in something based on how often you're looking up the game, it makes the desire sensor real.
>>
>>736793731
The data collection they can already do with their games and the game store? How often you’re looking up the game on the Nintendo news app that doesn’t have a search feature? “They could do this thing Sony is doing!” that they’ve been able to do this whole time and that Sony is doing without the music or news app? Come the fuck on lol
>>
>>736789968
Damn, I was hoping for some co-op
>>
>>736793914
Anon, what they can view on your phone isn't limited to what you do in the app. That's why you have all these companies trying to get you to download their phone apps with incentives like coupons and other promotions.

That's why it's so lucrative, Nintendo can now spy on what you're doing off their platform. Nintendo Today's app permissions include access to your camera and GPS. Many apps also access your internet browsing data, contacts, and other online activity because there are third party tracking tools embedded in the SDK.

Ah, so the danger is that it’ll have access to a photo of a QR code and where you saw a movie once, if you do the theater check in? What happened to your targeted discount point, that one had some potential if you kept digging!

Cant have a straightforward discussion about anything here now. There's always going to be someone that barges into threads for things they don't like to preach about how the game or company is evil incarnate and make up a bunch of shit.
>>
I wonder how different it’ll look since it’s been nearly a year
>>
>>736795265
The vast majority of youtube direct discourse for years now has been ragebait.

Don't forget the original reason for directs was Iwata getting upset with mainstream game journalists only putting out negative takes about their announcements and getting in the way of communicating directly with their audience (hence why they are called directs in the first place). This is just a modern version of that but youtube content mills in place of mainstream gaming journalism.
>>
>>736795265
>youtube reactions are literally free marketing though

That's disputable because Youtubers tend to react largely to what's already popular.

Data harvesting via tools in the SDK is something most apps do and it's what you should expect to happen. It's pretty crazy that you're tech illiterate and using an iPhone while being a corporate apologist for Nintendo. You're embodying multiple stereotypes, you're an actual NPC lol.

It’s cute you abandoned so many other arguments, but you’re sticking with the app permissions one with thee huge Mario movie checkin asterisk
>>
>>736795265
Nintendo has a varied set of series and not all of them might be liked by the same person.
Fire Emblem for example might not have any appeal to someone interested in Metroid.
So if you have a big youtuber that loves one series and not the other, it's not so good if someone watches that youtuber to get a roundup of the direct and leaves with "this guy loves Nintendo but they hates Fire Emblem, so Fire Emblem must be a bad series"

The fact people can't form their own opinion and just parrot what a youtuber say makes me think the impressionable dipshit wouldn't download the app anyway.
>>
>>736794912

It's but a gut feeling. But I imagine it's a game where we'll head on out to look for resources. Then use said resources to build machines and buildings for our home base to improve our chances as we head into the wild.
Improvements that you'll need, because you'll start out very weak. So it'll be more survival/dungeon crawler esque, than say, those extraction type games.

And thus we'll have to fight both our limited resources, and the looming threats of enemies or environmental hazards, as we try to maximize the potential of each "run".

No I'm saying you're a fickle idiot if you buy a console at launch and are ready to sell it because an announcement didn't come soon enough.
If you did sell it and whatever game you were hoping for came a month later then it's your own money you've wasted when buying the console again.

You already have the thing, why sell it at all if you're clearly waiting for something specific?
>>
>>736787002

I'm not just looking for something specific. I'm looking to see the general direction Nintendo wants to take this new platform in, especially since all we've gotten so far are Switch 1 leftovers/carryovers (except for the fucking wheelchair game). I'm not just wary for "not getting one exact thing", I'm wary because this IS a more expensive platform, and most Switch 2 games WILL cost more. I want to see if they intend to make games befitting of that cost increase, or if they simply said "fuck it, Microsoft and Sony did it so why not us too?".

Every generation since the Wii had some cross-platform carryovers in the first year.
As far as direction and cost. It's a games console in 2026. Everything unfortunately costs more but you're the one that chose to get one at launch, the time when they are traditionally at their most expensive (ignoring whatever Sony is doing right now). Whatever alternative you find will also be expensive.
It doesn't invalidate the previous point by changing waiting on a single title to multiple. You got the console wanting something before it was announced and instead of waiting for that announcement, you're prepared to drop it entirely.

>It doesn't invalidate the previous point by changing waiting on a single title to multiple.
It entirely does, but nice fucking goalpost move. Also, what I was getting at is that I want to see the kind of design philosophies Nintendo is going with for future games, especially as they start to get into games actually designed FOR the Switch 2. Why is this so hideously unreasonable? Why is it so hideously unreasonable to expect a news cycle comparable to the Switch 1 era?

All of these would have been fixed with a direct in february or march, I genuinely don't get what the famitsusisters are angry about, yeah directs are way nicer than looking at the phone app. There's no reason why tomodachi alone got a direct outside of wanting to dripfeed people. >>
>>736802474

Eh?
I mean games like Bananza, Age of Imprisonment, Air Riders, and Pokopia would all make the original Switch explode.

And I mean. DQB1 and DQB2 practically had the NS1 on fire, and those games still had far less on screen than Pokopia does.
Age of Calamity was also pushing the NS1 to its limits, and had far, far less on-screen than Age of Imprisonment.
Granted that there are alpha pictures of Bananza running on the NS1 from its pre-production phase. But it's no wonder why it was effectively shelved until the NS2 because there is absolutely no way the NS1 would have been able to run anything even remotely resembling what Bananza actually does mechanically with its voxel-terrain and destruction stuff.
And one can only imagine how gimped Air Riders on the NS1 would have been. I mean as cool as the original Air Ride is, the NS1 would not have been able to handle the scope of Air Riders.

Maybe Tomodachi Life could have been feasible on the NS1? Is that like it?
NS2 exclusives broadly don't seem to have been feasible for the NS1 at all.

I love Directs. I loved old E3 of everything being concentrated to a specific weekend.
I'm not terribly fond of drip feeding spread across the entire year in unpredictable and sudden manners.

That said. I feel like it's a bit much to be up in arms or to be genuinely angry or upset about the potential shift away from Directs.
But I suppose we'll need to see how big the "E3"-Direct will be at least.

But I mean. As much as I loved the Directs. They were just advertisements in the end. I feel like I would struggle to actually feel upset because of their absence or presence one way or the other.
Of course. Youtubers make a really big deal out of it since their easy cashflow is tied to it.

Nintendo as a ton of different series. A lot of people are looking for one or two games out of the 30 that could turn up.
Two people could like a direct for different reasons whilst others could hate it because their single interest didn't turn up or simply because it's Nintendo, regardless of the games featured.

i mean compare it to a literal game about making an empire like unicorn overlord or any of the autistic pc games that will involve conquest and it doesn't hit the same notes at all. like pokopia is objectively targeted more towards women, that doesn't mean guys can't enjoy it or that it's only for women but dqb2 is def more targeted towards men and they're very similar games since it's the same dev team.

It doesn't help that the best interactions with Deep Cut were their rivalry with the Squid Sisters and that Big Man has been working behind Frye and Shiver's back.

Outside of that, there's not much going on besides Deep Cut's Treasure Hunting, which that game never really dives into, but I guess Splatoon Raiders will.

are you talking about city builders and factorio and the like? that's a different autistic genre where you have to micromanage a lot of different moving parts, pokopia is neko atsume+minecraft but with the combat removed, there's no great autism filter like the city builders, in fact pokopia is extremely accessible.

The neat thing about Directs was that Nintendo would feel compelled to provide updates on previously announced upcoming titles in them, even if it were simple as "please continue to look forward to this game."
Even something like that is a damn sight better than dead silence on a game we don't even know the genre of that's going to be releasing soon.
>>
Maybe some would find it cliche. But I think I'd dig some "illuminati"-esque cult of human-worshippers to act as antagonists. And they wouldn't need to be tied to any one specific species, but could be unified through their admiration towards the lost humans, while trying to recreate their lost arts.

>>736808947
The only things I'd want to get rid of or reduce in Directs are
>the fact that there's always one or two games that each get a 5+ minute segment, wildly overstaying their welcome unless you're a superfan of that series and literally nothing else
>straining themselves to make incredibly generic/forgettable third-party games sound the slightest bit interesting (especially run of the mill slop JRPGs, holy shit nothing makes my eyes glaze over faster than the Direct narrator suddenly getting all fucking monotone and serious, trying for the five hundredth time to make universal JRPG mechanics and plot tropes sound novel for an entire minute or two)
>>
>>736787046
No, it's based. The eceleb reaction culture has been detrimental to their PR lately. (They're always sperging out about 'general' Nintendo Directs now because they know no one cares about third party or indie games)

Shifting over to Nintendo Today and putting an end to that is based.

I know we just had two back to back rounds of “possession” goo, but it would be cool if the new antagonist had a bunch of different sea creatures under its control. The game has non-lethal weapons like the Stasis Rifle and the Vortex Torpedoes, but players use the Stasis Rifle to freeze enemies in place before stabbing them to death and that the later Underwater Mech Suit can use a grappling hook to attach to a creature's face so you can punch it.

they take your personal info and browsing habits and then sell it to data brokers or use it to build a profile on you so they can shill things to you. some tracking cookies report what other sites you visit back to the site you got the cookie from, so if you visit site A, the cookie reports back to site A that you went to site B and it knows which links you clicked there and it can even track what purchases you made. apps can do the same thing and data brokers will buy up all this info on you and put it into 1 neat little file. that includes browsing history, online shopping, social media, and public records to build accurate pictures of your habits, interests, and personal information because your devices(especially your phone) have unique advertising ids and your pc browser will have a fingerprint that it makes it obvious who you are.

>>
>>736819174
I always took it that Inklings and Octolings have bodies denser than water, so they sink. The auto-splatting when in water is a failsafe built into their ink tanks to force them to respawn at safety instead of drown.
>>
>>736811889
Yep. Honestly, I've always seen the water stuff as a purely gameplay mechanic and that the in lore explanation is the splatting is either the Ink tank forcing a Respawn because the water is polluted or it registering as 'out of bounds' in Turf War.

Stuff like cutting and shaping their hair tentacles. How their clothes are torn up or maybe even something like how stickers on lockers worked
>>
>>736821502
one word: apartments
>>
>>736821502
All we need is more hairstyles, optional freckles, optional tanlines, and maybe glasses being a separate option from hats.
>>

No.
Give me full single player kino.
Tired of being cockteased with something great like OE and RoTM with it ending far too soon.
>>
>>736821619
I would very much like to have the concept of lockers but the space, room variety and multiple dimensions of an appartment

Patiently awaiting the reveal of the new octoling hairstyles, the new woomy ponytail is super cute.

if youre not in their friends list they will never play with you
>>
>>736821619
They should probably get rid of the Shoal and use customisable apartments as the home for local multiplayer instead. I think I stepped inside once at launch to see what it looked like, then never entered ever again. Same with the locker room. May as well merge the two

I don't entirely want apartmens just because in 3, so many of the unlocks in the catalog were Stickers and Locker Stuff that it made me lose interest.
>>
More like Splatoon Rapers
>>
>>736823607
Lockers were lame, so limited space. People like decorating, so full-size apartments would appeal to more people.

Frye posting.

That's it, really.

for your consideration:
shipping container apartments stacked into a panopticon-style apartment building with the PVP lobby/gym in the center and (as environmental storytelling) automated machinery routinely slotting apartment crates into and out of the building, so you can just walk into the apartments of friends and recent players whenever you want
>>
>>736824106
that's fine

no one uses a console to listen to music. it was made as a phone app solely to placate retards who complain that nintendo doesn't put their soundtracks on spotify and who don't know how to listen to music without streaming it on their phone.

game is content complete so they no longer have to speculate the content.

If it's single player it's not going to be much longer than the Splatoon campaigns. This is Nintendo we are talking about, only their niche RPGs go on for 80 hours.

850 hour singleplayer roguelite basebuilding extraction shooter with FF12 gambit elements

Retards. They're probably just getting all this already announced stuff out the way because the June direct will be focused on entirely new announcements

it's gonna be a 15 hour game without replayability

They realized that they cant just keep adding new idols every game while bringing back old ones so they will use spinoff games to kill off previous idols they dont need anymore.
