What’s the solution for increased AAA budgets?
AI isn’t there yet, hiring overseas results in more shitty work, and expectations for what is a good AAA game is through the roof.

AA

>>736802249
focus on quality not quantity.
a rich 30 hour game jam packed with content is far superior to 200 hours of generated slop.
>>
>This game cost $100M because some guy said so
None of these budget headlines have ever been corroborated by the developers because they're obviously lies. The only things that reach that amount in the real world are large scale construction projects, like an Amazon warehouse or a renovation for an entire highway system.
>>
Tear it down and force the AAA faggots to start over because they CLEARLY went wrong somewhere a long time ago. Games from the 2010's have equal quality or better while also having lower filesize and budgets, yet studios are burning increasingly ridiculous amounts of money and demand higher payments while giving nothing noteworthy in return. Hell, Sifu or Deep Rock Galactic are technically indie games yet they rape modern AAA hard in terms of efficient budgeting, filesize and quality.

move away from american westcoast development, that is a easy 100m in salaries saved

Pay 10 people $100,000 each to make a game for 1 year = $1million budget. Need more than 10 people? Scale back. Need more than 1 year? Scale back.

Hire fewer developers and managers, don't hire consultants, don't double the budget on marketing, target a 20$ pricepoint, kill any project that looks like it won't be done in 2-4 years instead of letting shit drag on for 8 years because "notmyproblem".

>Implying anyone will willingly work with gay ass publishers who will fuck you over
>>736803264
AAA was always just the result of bubbles or market crash bailouts being pumped into videogames. When there is no drastic overinvestment or hope of attracting it, there is no AAA.
At the moment the most we have is gay companies trying to IPO and pass a bag of steaming shit to someone else or private equity.

Let them fail and die, duh.

Killing them, gut the AAA studio back down to AA and force those bastards to make gameplay-focused games again moving away to the movie nonsense and hyper-realistic nonsense. To reach maximum sales volume, stop being woke. Sony will do this since Japan is taking PlayStation back, both Microsoft's hardware and software may be on their way out though. Microsoft refuses to change and for that, Nintendo, Sony, and Valve will kill them and force them down to AA whether they want to or not.
>>
>>736802249
break them up into budgets that can cover AA projects and shrink teams
in other words diversify their production into a smaller scale and consistently deliver new games to the market in a timely frequency

So what's the endgame? The dumbest company collecting all the shit factories and starts pumping out what they think will make billions but they actually lose that much? Because that sounds like what the vidya division of sony has been doing for like a decade.
>>
>>736802249
how many dei consultants?
>>
Go back to upper 360/ps3 graphics but with improved physics animation and lighting. It's insane how just back then you could get a whole trilogy out within the console generation.

Friend, its very basically math here. If a game development team has few hundred full time employees, making urban west coast salaries (like $100k per year), and it takes them five or six years to make the game, you end up with a hundred million+ just for salaries. That is of course before any other expenses mind you.
>>
>>736802249
No, expectations for what a good AAA game is haven't changed in thirty fucking years, it's just that studios don't DO that anymore. They focus on all the aspects that cost more money without making games actually fun to play.
