shit

awful.
the first and last time I fall for the "from the developers of" scam.
>>
They decided to humiliate the main character by turning him into a mutilated nugget in the DLC. I'm all for more risky storytelling in games, but it was clearly just a way of giving a flopped franchise with no future a crazy ending.

the combat looks dumb
>>
It was so bad I wanted to give it a zero but that’s not possible so I gave it a one etc etc
>>
it's good

We have Dead Space at home
Dead Space at home:

Also, the DLC final boss is one of the worst and most annoying boss fights ever
>inb4 skill issue
Nah it's just badly designed
>>
It’s a 7/10 if you’re a genre fan. Good on a first go around, not something you’ll ever want to go back to. Play on the hardest difficulty and learn the melee.
>>
>>736809410
I was promised a dead space game instead I got the worst melee combat of all time
>>
>>736811687
More like it’s a 0/10 if you’re a fan of the genre because it’s not good horror, it’s not a good survival horror game and it’s not a good action game
>>
>>736812298
It’s a hundred times better than those psuedo psychological horror walking sims that get uploaded to steam every day, so right away it’s in the top percentile of horror games.

I was going to buy this on launch but ended up going out with friends. Hungover next morning and I decided to wait for patches after reading some reviews. Months go by and I go out with friends again and come home drunk and want to game, but can't remember the name, so I googled "space horror game playstation" or something and it told me I meant Returnal. So, I bought thay. It's fucking great, couple hundred hours and I still play it just to shoot space octopusses. Just pick up and go fun. Meanwhile, every review or story I read about Callisto makes me happy that I never bought it. Thanks, alcohol!

it was alright. it is way too expensive for what it is though. it should be like 15$

It's alright apart from this tiny chink bitch beating up the protagonist, a grown ass hunk of a man
>>
Buy the DLC to get a "the devs want to tell you to go fuck yourself" ending
>>

Genuine garbage. The only thing redeemable about it is the setting and 50% of the time it's still bad.

>and learn the melee.
There's nothing to learn. It's literally
>Are you in chapter 3 and have yet to have seen the infection cutscene?
Sway sway full combo.
>Are you in chapter 3 and have seen the infection cutscene?
Sway sway sway full combo. Wait for the infection. Sway sway sway full combo until the enemy is dead.
If you really want to waste your ammo then sway sway sway full combo instakill shot.

Bad, gets semi-good at the DLC, too little too late.

>learn the melee.
Step 1: it doesnt matter where the swing is coming from, just dodge
There, that's it

Cronos was a better Dead Space like in comparison.
>>
>>736809410
It's a lesser dead space

It's a 6/10 game with a melee based combat system that literally doesn't work because it's either a complete joke when you're against 1 enemy or impossible to deal with when there's more than 1 cause it just flat out wasn't designed for group fights.

I liked it, was like a more brutal Dead Space 2 made years after that kind of game fell out of fashion. I think alot of the hate you see online are people who didn't play the game or didn't play Dead Space and don't remember that they weren't that good either.

I have 100%ed TCP, DS1, DS2, DS3, and DSM. TCP is garbage. Every single DS including DS3 is significantly more fun and replayable than TCP.

There is so much wrong with the game and the higher difficulties and Contagion difficulty show you just how bad the game gets. The fact guns are borderline useless outside of the shotgun is mind boggling, and there being no storage means you significantly gimp your damage output because the only guns that deal any damage are the shotgun and the Handcannon. All the automatic weapons are unusable in their entirety because it takes an entire magazine to kill one enemy.

Contagion difficulty is so broken that if you are not backing up your save it's possible to be unable to get past chapter 4 because the instadeath QTE two hours into your run can hard crash your system, not soft crash. I spent literally 8 or 10 hours having to replay chapter 4's first 30 minutes right before the instadeath because the game hard crashes your system randomly when you see the infection cutscene, during the wave battle after the infection cutscene, or during the instadeath slip and slide segment, and when you restart the game it restarts from the start of the entire chapter, not where you last were.

I also couldn't even get all the achievements in the DLC because if you complete Contagion it breaks your save file until you delete your Contagion save which is just lovely.

I had fun with it. The combat takes a bit to get used to, but if you like eurojank games (think risen, elex) it'll click pretty quickly.
High production values, enjoyable, yet predictable plot.

it gets unnecessarily shat on here. it's a solid $15 game. (as in, buy it on sale.)

>learn the melee
Learn what, nigger? You quite literally hold left, then hold right, then hold left? What's there to learn?
>>
I got it for free and was still disappointed
>>
>>736814616
Bull fucking shit. I played all 3 Dead Spaces including a couple of the spinoffs and I beat Callisto Protocol twice and even got all the achievements for it. I can say it's not as shit as Dead Space 3
