It's time for a sandbox to be popular, but a perfect sandbox is almost impossible to get right if you don't know what you're doing.

•No leveling.
•Full gear trading.
•Material repairs durability.

An MMO is going to be the most played game.

I want to say, too, that making real money by trading in-game is the #1 innovation in gaming. I think an MMO with a real money auction house will be far more popular than other games.

Ahh, a Nutriments Nigger thread. Here is the thread primer:
/ESL Bot Nutriments Nigger General/ aka Autistic Ian Thread (Extra Pasta).
>Will fly instantly into an uncontrolled fit upon seeing this pasta and accuse the poster of being a liar.
>Every argument brought against Nutriments Nigger that he cannot field will be answered with >[Fallacy].
>"Warm memos" and other ESL sayings.
>Instead of using "is", he uses "of", when discussing subjects. Example? "Quality is of objectivity."
>"""Objective""" claims about videogame and art objectivity that are never backed up except with Jewish corporate propaganda that is improperly applied as data.
>*Starts talking about vitamins for no reason.*
>Legit thinks the perfect game is some bot-infested always-online skinnerbox RMAH trash.
>Claims eventually boil down to his preference and literal Jewish player retention propaganda from some extremely kike-ish addiction thinktank.

Old School Runescape is basically the perfect sandbox mmo. There is also BDO, which is also quite good but very niche and hard to get into.

The genre is dead.

lol

This has never been true and never will be true in the future. RMAH games are dead and so are MMOs.

MMO's rely on a functioning society to work correctly.
We haven't lived in a functional society in years.
>>
>>736814610
When were we last in a functional according to you, 20 year old 4chan poster?
>>
Why hasn't anyone done a proper MMO lite yet? That should be easier for budgets and avoid being in development hell.
>>
>>736813510
OSRS doesn't have really good combat.

I haven't played BDO, but it has leveling, doesn't have full gear trading, and doesn't have material repairs durability.

Ive tried virtually every mmo available at this point. Nothing sticks and nothing brings back the memories of the good old days between the late 1990s and I guess 2010ish. I really miss the EQ/FFXI community. Hell even vanilla WoW back then wasn't too bad considering it was WoW. Nothing brings the feeling back. I just feel like I'm doing chores.
>>
>>736815592
The issue isn't necessarily the game itself, but the fact that the internet as a whole has changed. Very few old hats like you and me actually want to play with other people just for fun. It's all about reaching endgame as fast as possible or daily chores, but then what?
>>
>>736815997
Yeah true. I hate "endgame". I was a community driven path to the end level. It took me a full year to hit max level on FFXI. I never rushed. There's just nothing like that anymore. It's all instant dopamine shit and daily logins. Im tired man

>Dead Genre.
What do you think people are going to want to play when we're all playing games together? An MMO is any other genre but with lots of players and a persistent world. People want to live in a world.

>This has never been true and never will be true in the future. RMAH games are dead and so are MMOs.
What A+ MMO has had a real money auction house in the past, like, 10-20 years?
>>
>>736816121
I feel the same way, I tried multiple times to get people to understand that but they end up chasing me out for not following their obsession with endgame stuff(which leads to immediate burnout)

Why do you even complain about daily when FFXI was one of the grindest grinfest game on the planet? It took you a full year to hit max level? Because you were underage and retarded. Maybe it was your first game too.

None and none ever will, because nobody will actively sabotage themselves with RMAH.

Is Neverwinter any good?
the Josh video made it look really good if you can ignore the microtransactions, and can live with the grinds being too intense to get everything.
I'm alright with that stuff though.

He's also of the mind that you can't really call a game "dead" until it's literally unplayable. No term he'd use to describe something with low population to the point of being unable to actually do group content.

How did the French manage to make the best MMORPG of 2026?
>>
>>736812505
How about this?
•Leveling like a proper RPG
•No trading to avoid bots and RMT
•No addons, no raid logging or datamining patches weeks before they're released
Sounds better to me.

there was Diablows 3, it had RMAH, it was pretty popular too, but it was getting gold farmed by turd worlders pretty badly by the time the expansion came out and killed it. Also blizzard were afraid of regulatory commissions buttfucking them, and they were right to.

Its so sad that literally no modern MMO has any kind of "magic" to it now. They're all fucking garbage. I unironically have more fun playing fake MMO's now over real ones.

You will never have a "good" MMO again
No company has the resources and manpower to churn out content at a rate acceptable for people to consume it.
And MMOs as a genre are the most guilty of having a playerbase that will optimize and min/max the fun out of the game
>>
>>736823656
That game had like almost 15 years of anticipation, sold like 30m copies, and died in a month since RMAH killed it

How about not replying to yourself like a schizophrenia patient?
>>
>>736823275
>Leveling like a proper RPG
It segregates players, obsoletes like 90% of the world, and makes people feel weak and irrelevant. WotLK lost 70% of trial players by lvl 10. Recently, 50% of lvl 10 characters made it to lvl 25. Leveling massively isolates and filters players.

>No trading
Gross. Everything would feel artificial, and your game would lose to the same game with trading.

>No add-ons
People deserve tools to check their DPS/HPS. Theorycrafting is really fun. Again, your game would lose to one that lets players solidify builds and rotations. They should have simulation tools too.
>>
every mmo devolves into a erp fest. wow, ff14, tera, pso2, all the same shit.
>>
>>736823970
>reply to yourself with a complete opposite stance

>>736824094
Ignoring the point about trial players quitting because it has been proven false hundreds of times already, leveling is a fundamental aspect of RPGs. If you decided to make a game without any form of leveling it wouldn't be anything like an RPG anymore.
>gross, everything would feel artificial
That might be true for a select few that still plays these kinds of online games, but it would soon be forgotten as the pros outweigh the cons.
>People deserve tools to check their DPS/HPS
Sure you could build something like that into the game, although in a more immersive way than providing a number on a list. Like a performance value, not all contributions towards the welfare of the group should be measured in DPS or HPS. What about hybrid classes that do both? Those would fall behind. Addons are a shitty lazy way of doing game design and should be eradicated.

>Appeal to tradition.
Not an argument.

>Thinks people will value a fake economy enough to top player counts.
People value real player interaction extremely more than AI. See how much more popular PvP games are.
>>
>>736815592
They’re too easy now but that will never change
>>
EVE and Albion are the only somewhat successful MMOs in this niche genre. They do not necessarily thrive but have qualities that have allowed them to survive for years.
That's the best you can get, other titles that have attempted fared even worse.
>>
>>736827396
you're actually insane so I won't bother replying to you anymore after this.
>People value real player interaction extremely more than AI. See how much more popular PvP games are.
Somehow this is only true for shooters, where there are minimal amounts of player interaction besides besides pointing at their heads and pusing LMB. This doesn't translate to player driven economies or battle for ingame territories over long durations, it's a simple loop of 'ha I killed you and ha you killed me' Instantly respawn and do the thing again. MMOs like the one you're suggesting are an entirely different breed, long-term commitment, socializing with guilds and woring yourself up the ranks to gain influence. That's a long shot from shooting someone in the head during a 10 minute match. I'm sorry but I don't think there is a market for your perfect sandbox mmo, otherwise mortal online 2 wouldn't flop, archeage wouldn't flop.
Personally I think MMOs have run their course, what you see is what you get.

>>
>>736812505
I love how every time MMO fags describe their ideal MMO, it doesn’t sound like an MMO but like some random other game that already exists. You’ve basically described RUST or any other survival game.
>real money by trading in-game is the #1 innovation in gaming. I think an MMO with a real money auction house will be far more popular than other games
That's exactly what Diablo 3 tried, and it made all normal people abandon the game and effectively killed it.
>>
>>736812505

sandbox is a dead genre. the best you ll get is a theme park with good action combat, riot`s and gw 3 being the ones with the best odds

if they fail mmos are dead in the west and genre will be krmmos
>>
>>736828139
Everything he listed was in the first major MMORPG, Ultima Online. You seem to be an underage retard with no knowledge of the genre.
>>
>>736828574
And Ultima Online was absolute garbage; you could hardly even call it a game in the modern sense. Just like most MMOs
>>
>>736827989
There are other popular games than shooters.

Have fun trying to sell an MMO without a player economy.
>>

Why does every "MMO THAT WILL SAVE MMO" recommendation have a mixture of
>bullying and griefing is encouraged
>real money trading is encouraged
>the game is built around stroking the egos of players that want attention
It's no wonder normalfags don't want to deal with MMOfags anymore and just want to grind skills and jobs in peace.
>>
>>736832494
Because you've been 'one guy'd' by a schizo on 4chan
>>
>>736832562
No, I see it on other social media sites as well. It's always
>the game should FORCE people to hang out with me all the time
>the game should be built to have people socialize with me 24/7
>also I can grief them, or sell them things for real money
>>
>>736832735
those are vastly different things than what you claimed in your first post
>>
>>736832494
People yearn for EVE stories without putting in the effort to play EVE
>>
>>736812505
100s of sandbox mmos exist, normies dont want sandbox they want the illusion of a massive game to play pretend.

MMOs are no longer """"Massive"""" also.
