why did the Deck fail this hard
>>
Small pp (processing power)
>>
>>736812932
And right now the Switch 2 has no legs.
>>
I don't have a gabe deck but one is a company's first (or second if you count the original steam machines) attempt at a gaming console vs other company's 8th or 9th generation

just saying
>>
>>736812932
because the piece of shit is always out of stock i've been trying to buy one for months
>>
>>736812932
No dedicated library. PC games simply aren't designed to be portable pick up and play experiences and the few that are already have mobile phone ports.
>>
>>736812932
PS5 sold faster than Switch now look at final numbers for both.
>>
>>736813128
Yup.
Nintendo is fucked in 2026. Once GTA6 is out, it will be over for Switch 2.
>>
>>736813278
they might not release it during a Blumpf presidency though. TDS is still so rampant
>>
because it was a pro consumer device you own that didn't give anticonsumer incentives to buy it like exclusives
>>
>>736812932
There are only so many fat hairy bears to 'ick on 'eck
It was never going to be massively popular
>>
>>736813249
So you think the deck will catch up?
>>
>>736813358
thats not what i was saying.
>>
>>736813301
that would actually be based just because of the ass pain it would cause
>>
>>736813401
What were you saying?
>>
>>736812932
Too niche
>>
>>736812932
valve sold as many as they could manufacture
chinkhelds targeting steam deck's performance and software picked up the slack and brought more players into valve's ecosysyem
>>
>>736813236
You can use it for emulation
>>
The Deck is a strange device that isn't good at any particular thing. It's not as powerful as a PC, isn't as compatible as a Windows device, isn't as portable/long-lasting as an ARM device.
Basically if there's some specific usecase you're looking for there's always a better device for it.
>>
>>736812932
imagine how little the steam machine is going to sell LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>>
>>736812932
Too expensive
>>
>>736813492
Just that it might not indicate anything for lifetime sales of a console.
>>
How many times must it be said? No one knows it exists unless they already have Steam, and its not sold in stores.
>>
>>736812932
Because you don't NEED a deck to play PC games you halfwit
All the rest of those NEED the system to play their games
Are you retarded?
>>
>>736812932
Too niche for the price
If I want to emulate handheld games I can buy a chinkheld for 1/4th the cost. If I want to play computer games I probably already have a computer considering only people who already use steam are really buying them. Also it's been sold out for months now.
>>
>>736813742
Well in the decks case it was spot on
>>
>>736813636
It's substantially more comfortable for an adult male to hold compared to a switch, and can play a lot of old games, even ones not from steam. Still niche but I like it.
>>
PChuds already have a pc.
>>
it's a niche device for the discerning customer that knows what they want, a mobile pc with a controller attached
consoles meanwhile are shilled everywhere and they're retard friendly wide net normie shit
>>
I love how people keep making up reasons when it's actually just that they didn't make more of them
>>
>>736814012
I wish they made more
>>
>>736813636
It is powerful enough for most things you'd want to play handheld, it can be a windows device if you want to, it's got enough battery to last you through, say, airport shenanigans (you plug it in on the plane), and it's way more comfortable for gaming than a laptop on lap. It's like PSP to Switch's DS, they have similar use cases, just different libraries, and PSP trades battery life for superior media capabilities.
>>
>>736813236
i think one of the biggest misses of the deck was not pushing the dock harder. the deck works best when you use it like a switch but i get why they wanted to differentiate themselves from the switch

>he didn't buy it dirt cheap for 300 bucks on sale
>>
im waiting on deck 2 desu
>>
It probably did just fine, the Gabe Cube tho? Good fucking luck selling that one lol.
>>
>>736812932
damn the deck sold 3.7M? that's really impressive considering that's all direct sales without any retail cut. Valve really leave everyone else in the dust huh
>>
>>736814631
do tards like you forget that only a tiny fraction of pc users actually build their computers?
this is a valve certified pc
>>
>>736814209
AYN Odin 3 is better at all of those usecases other than being a Windows device (and is also cheaper). The only advantage the Deck has over it is that it has trackpads for better compatibility with mouse-controlled games; but I can't really think of a game I'd want to play handheld that doesn't have console controls.
>>
>>736814812
i kinda refuse to believe that but i'm 37 so wtf do i know
>>
>>736813457
Isn't GTA at its core a parody of the US? Wouldn't this be the best time to release it?
>>
>>736814812
>do tards like you forget that only a tiny fraction of pc users actually build their computers?
Only if you go by steam hardware surveys which count gopniks playing CS and Dota on 15 year old Dell Optiplexes or Lenovo thinkpads as "PC users".
>>
>>736815103
you're gith that the cube isn't going to be bought by thirdies on chromebooks, the only real market for it are techlet console zoomers who have their parent's money and are curious about pc because of a streamer
>>
>>736815103
the market is almost entirely laptops and prebuilts
normies aren't building shit
this is going to be the closest to an official gaming pc that you can physically get, everything about it is mainstream
it will sell well
>>
>>736815201
Pretty much, yes. The PC users who care about having any sort of real performance mostly build their PCs, the rest just use whatever obsolete hardware is laying around.
The gabebox is aimed at people with enough money to buy a real PC but zero technical knowledge, which is a demographic with very heavy overlap with console users.
>>736815306
>the market is almost entirely laptops and prebuilts
Because thirdies can't afford anything else. These prebuilts aren't some Origin gaming computer or an Alienware, they're office boxes with a 10 year old GPU thrown in that was bought 2nd hand for 20 bucks. These people don't have $800 to spend on an "official PC".
>this is going to be the closest to an official gaming pc that you can physically get, everything about it is mainstream
it will sell well
So why not just buy a PS5? Normies don't give a fuck about some slight advantage in performance or the ability to mod or pirate games. The kind of audience that would even want an "official" PC would be much better served by a console. And the even smaller market of people who just want a PC for MAX GRAPHICS!!! 8K RAYTRACING 240 FPS won't buy something like this, they'll pay a system integrator $10000 to build them some overpriced rig with custom water cooling and 256GB of RAM(that they'll never use).

It didn't failed, monetarily or in accepting sense, the problem is that valve is not willing to spend the money and pursue the new big 3 slot(removing microslop).
I would imagine that they just don't give a fuck about it or don't have the money to do so and thanks fucking god they're not thinking about going public, that's why they only released in like 12 countries and never expended beyond that.
And even if they had everything AND the courage/motivation to actually do it, i really then i would say that they would definitely flop hard. This strategy of doing things in a "small" scale has worked for them.
>>
>>736812932
It didn't it fulfilled its job
>established the handheld PC market
>showed that people want hardware made by Valve themselves establishing the Steam Hardware family
>is getting a successor
>successor's job is to establish proper optimization for PC gaming that's been absent for years
>sold well above what Valve actually expected
>got AMD off their asses to start making low wattage handheld chips.
It's a massive success in its own market as it was meant to be.

even normies know that pcs are just better and consoles are constantly burning goodwill
this is an easy to use pc that has official support from the most important entity in pc gaming
