Lots of early/middle game bosses are mechanically stronger than Nameless King, Soul of Cinder, Gael, etc by an immense margin. Literally the Index Gundyr (fucking tutorial boss), or the Dancers, have a much trickier moveset than them, they have actual roll catches/frame traps and hard to read things. While the lategame bosses are infinitely easier to dodge because you can just roll forward whenever they do anything, they are only more "lategame" because they show up later and have more health and HP. I cant possibly be the only one who is bothered by this, its so jarring
>>736820198Whatever you think is happening is entirely in your own head.
>>736820198>low effort cashgrab is poorly thought outdamn that's crazy
>>736820198>Index GundyrIudex. It's a Latin word that means "judge". Gundyr at the Cemetary of Ash is the judge for Unkindled resurrected by the First Flame to see if they have the potential to accomplish its goal.
From died from the success of DS1 and as a consequence is their last good game.
>>736820198Gael used to be the hardest boss in FromSoft history before they came up with Consort Radahn, you ESL fuck
>>736820198Iudex's moveset is very simple and limited. I don't even get how you can say that when Champion Gundyr exists and he's literally just phase 1 Gundyr but more aggressive and with more moves.
>>736820482gael is considered hard? i beat him 2nd try, he staggers so easily and the uneven ground has you dodge most of his hits by standing still
>>736820198You can check the early leaks and see that the boss order was originally completely different. There's also lots of left over data that shows many more were intended for entirely different areas they would have thematically fit far better. But, well. The game underwent a last minute rewrite and they played musical chairs, every boss was scrambled arbitrarily and now everything is out of order with its original design phase. I don't know why the rewrite was deemed necessary or why this rotation happened when many bosses would also swap names in the process anyhow. All of From's Soulslike titles features mounds of cut content and some late, clumsy rewrites but DS3's felt entirely unnecessary and sticks out the worst in my mind. I don't think I'll ever understand what need there was for it here.
>>736820198Idk about that but I started a new playthrough with an assassin and estoc is the worst weapon ive ever used in my life. I have around 1k hours across all souls games and ive never encountered something this slow, low damage, high stam consumption, weird charged attacks, with special skill that takes 3 fucking seconds to go off (feels slower than ultra greatswords). Feels like a rapier with extra steps that make it worse. Any good dex/int or str/int options early, so i can replace this piece of shit?
>>736820482>Gael used to be the hardest boss in FromSoft history before they came up with Consort Radahn, you ESL fuckI thought Sister Freide was way harder than Gael.
>>736821327>Any good dex/int or str/int options early, so i can replace this piece of shit?Just start the game with a fire gem and enchant whatever weapon you like. Elemental enchantments do way more damage than scaling weapons until endgame.
>>736821327Uchigatana is available at Firelink Shrine the moment you kill Gundyr.
>>736821334One word - backstabs
>>736821327If you're the type that likes one dependable straight sword, like the Balder Side Sword in DS1, you can farm the Lothric Knight Sword from the big blue caped knights at the end of the first post-tutorial area.It infuses fine with any build, so it's definitely a safe pick. If they're too much to take on at the start, you'll get better farm spots later, or even get them available in a shop after a point in Greirat's questline. It's a popular pick. Personally, I like starting with small arms, like the dagger sold in the Firelink maiden's shop for 500 souls, crit damage is out of control in 3.Like the other anon said, if you have the fire gem or want to learn into dex early, you can get the uchigatana right away.
>>736820198Nameless, Cinder and Gael have attack delays so your point is moot. They're always the trickiest moves.
>>736820198>DS3 makes no senseparryslop never does
>>736820482>roll forward whenever boss does anything>kill gael in 1, 2, maybe 3 tries even with a low damage buildhow is that supposed to be the hardest?
>>736820482>>736821334I'm currently helping a friend through the game on his first playthrough (he beat Elden Ring). Every time we've come to a notorious boss I'm yappin' about how "back in 2016 this boss was a HUGE wall for people that they couldn't overcome!" We then proceed to beat said boss first try with no issues. The only boss we died a couple times on was Friede. We haven't reached the second DLC yet.
>>736820198Iurex is not hard..Dancer is easy if you lock off and space her out. Walk/sprint away then hit her once she finishes her epic combo. Pontiff is the same. I find this approach makes a lot of DS3 and ER less annoying.
>>736820198>Gundyr>has a more complex pattern than Nameless KingMaybe during the first phase, where he just dive bombs you from aperch his giant chicken, but even then, not really.Gundyr is a very simple boss, anon. Do you mean Champion Gundyr, maybe?
>>736820482He was literally never considered shroder than Ludwig or Orphas you retarded fag hell not even harder than Nameless and Sister Friede? Lil bro hot filter wiltered by a literal nobody? Oh nonoooonooooo? >>736822802Wow almost like coop and summons invalidates the AI in these games holy shockedpikachu.jpg
>>736820482Gael wasn't anywhere near as stressful as Sister "surprise, third phase lol" Friede or even Midir.Gael's first phase is pretty easy to do hitless: it's about as aggressive and difficult as an Elden Ring Evergaol miniboss. The second phase is obviously tougher, but it's such a kino spectacle that you're not really paying attention to difficulty.Honestly, phase 2 Gael is a very fair fight.
>>736822802You gotta understand that if you have any Souls experience under your belt at all, you're likely not going to hit these "weekend-wall" situations.Sure these games can be beat SL1 and such with enough patience and autism - but at their heart they are RPGs and building your character is important. Most people playing these games for the first time build bloated or underleveled, unhinged, insane and unholy abomination builds or they follow a cookie cutter guide without actually understanding the intended playstyle. They also tend to do this entirely solo. This is always at its worst when the games first release and people are most vocal, so it tends to always leave that footprint.
>>736820943>and now everything is out of order with its original design phaseThematically pretty fitting, you have to admit.
>>736821327Ignore those other guys: get the Lucerne.
>>736823194Learning to play unlocked is the first step in getting good at these games, yeah.Maybe not for Bloodborne, where quickstep to rally is considered important to the flow of gameplay, though.
>>736823386You say that, but 've been soloing most of the bosses first try after helping him.>>736823473Very true. I had played all the previous games when I played DS3 in 2016, so I knew what I was doing. But that early discussion of the game also creates a mystique around the bosses that makes them bigger than they really are. That's gone for me having played through the game dozens of times. That intimidation factor you feel on a first playthrough that can affect your decision making during a fight is part of what makes them so fun.
