Honestly, that was shit. But props for actually playing a fighting game, looking at a replay and requesting tips. That's more than 99% of /v/ will do when it comes to fighters.

If you just want a bullet point version of what you need to work on.
>First off, for the love of god stop mashing all the time and actually block. You're just going to get constantly blown up when you stand if you keep doing that and it shows you're panicking way too easily.
>You're way too passive. Constantly backing yourself into a corner, especially against an opponent like Giovanna is just giving them free reign to walk up and crush you into dust. Show some activity by moving towards your opponent, jump around a bit, pepper them with jabs, just do something so you're not as predictable.
>If you want to charge the dolphin, just hold your stick in the diagonal down-back position as that will give you both when there's an opening in the pressure.
>Learn to hit confirm. Strive especially makes this easy with the big slowdown and shit on counter hits so you should have more than enough time to recognize that and at least hit your opponent with a dolphin.

If you can knock all that shit off, then you can start working on landing combos and then proceed on your improvement from there.

Go into practice mode and learn what your safe buttons are. Look up how to read frame data. Dont ask /v/ for advice about anything ever. Everyone will shit on you but they were all ass at some point. Find a good youtube channel that plays your character. This is a new version of the game so a lot of older info might be out dated.

Anon no need to make yourself play fighting games
There are easier games for people like you. Like Snakes and Ladder, Ludo, etc. Heck you could even try and play Minecraft. It would be a stretch honestly but you could try.

So this is what beginner-level Strive gameplay looks like?
You know what, maybe fighting games aren't as daunting to get into as I thought. I should give them another try sometime

How can I initiate combos?
I know how the execute them but i could rarely actually land the second hit after the pokes and starters cause they just immediately recovers or blocks

If it makes you feel any better, I wasn't only referring to your play
What I mean is that when I see footage of fighting games, it's usually clips of people doing crazy 30-hit combos or whatever that take out 75% of the other guy's health bar. Seeing a 'normal' match where both players are mainly just throwing out buttons in neutral (and stringing together maybe 2-3 attacks at best) makes fighting games look a lot less intimidating to learn
You lost that match, sure, but it's not as if the other guy seemed leagues above you in skill level. At a glance it feels like the kind of skill difference that would only take a bit more practice to make up for, as opposed to needing to spend like 1000 hours labbing just to compete at a basic level

implies fighting games are mostly like snakes and ladders but more difficult? depressing

>finally buy Strive after seeing the positive reception to the 2.0 update
>everyone plays like a gorilla on adderall and uses RC to turn their neutral skips into plus-on-whiff pressure starters
If this is the casualized Guilty Gear then I need to never touch Xrd
How do you creature contain in this game

i heard the advices and changed my gameplan
did i do good?
>>
>>736843305
well seems like your doing better and not just a sitting fish. Though I'd like you to get your confirms better. By that I mean buffer in a safe move after your poke so that if it gets blocked or you hit the opponent, you get a little more leverage on your advantage. Like poke>horizontal dolphin. Also refer to the image to strengthen your neutral, you need a gameplan. I see small bits of it but you just need to structure it better

>>736843305
slightly better

Are Strive shills having a blast?
I never got into it, mostly because I'm shit at fighting games.
