I just started playing this and it's quite nice but kind of boring and plain so far. Does it get better or is it just a standard yuri story? I went in wanting to learn more about the genre but I'm pretty bored. No hate.

If you haven't gotten that far, keep playing and see if your interest picks up.

Use the walkthrough to get all the endings, not to look ahead.The no-spoilers short of it is that Printemps follows Suoh as protagonist, Éte follows a character which you probably haven't met yet but will soon (mystery nigga), Automne follows Yuzuriha, and Hiver goes back to Suoh's POV to wrap everything up.
