I just started playing this and it's quite nice but kind of boring and plain so far. Does it get better or is it just a standard yuri story? I went in wanting to learn more about the genre but I'm pretty bored. No hate.

If you don't like FLOWERS, you probably just don't like yuri.
That being said, Printemps is a 7/10 while Éte and Automne are easily 9/10 or 10/10.
Hiver is like 7/10 or 8/10.
Maybe you haven't gotten fat enough to realize yet, but the main concept of Printemps is a love triangle. If you haven't gotten that far, keep playing and see if your interest picks up.

It's more of a mystery series than yuri, with very light and sparse romance content. That said, if you're already spacing out at the very beginning, this game or genre aren't for you.

Yeah I figured spring was the weakest entry, it's nice that it gets better, though it's strange that the last entry is a downgrade.
I thought it was more of a routes based thing than a love triangle though.

I did hear whispers somewhere that it was a mystery series, and that actually makes me more interested in the story, though I have no idea how it could possibly be a mystery yet.
interesting to see a file name "tantei" with the sleepy twin.

Do NOT look up anything online or you will be spoilered.

Thanks, I'm surprised this game has stuff to be spoiled desu but that's definitely a good sign.

So, it only gets good in Summer I guess?
Idk if I'm down for that commitment desu...

So now that I know Flowers has mystery genre aspects, how would we compare it to Kara no Shoujo by the same company? Because, and sorry to anyone I offend, I thought that VN (the first one) was really really bad, and the second one was okay so far but I didn't finish it.

There aren't the kind of routes like in a standard dating sim, though there's similar flag raising and building affection through the choices. It only unlocks some alternative scenes and endings for the side characters. But only one ending is considered "canon."

The other anon's opinions reflect the general opinions of the fandom. I personally didn't like Ete very much. Hiver is a bit disappointing, because I believe they were going for a different resolution, but rewrote it after the negative reception to the first part. But story-wise it's the most fun and exciting part by far.

It's not gruesome at all. I would actually suggest using a walkthrough because I promise 100% that you will not get them all right, or maybe even most of them. Use the walkthrough to get all the endings, not to look ahead.

The no-spoilers short of it is that Printemps follows Suoh as protagonist, Éte follows a character which you probably haven't met yet but will soon (mystery nigga), Automne follows Yuzuriha, and Hiver goes back to Suoh's POV to wrap everything up.

That is a big shame.
Good to hear it's exciting though

Ah it's one of those, sasuga innocent grey, ok i'll get a walkthrough. i mean i still have no idea what the green/yellow colors mean upon choice selections.

i'm surprised i still have no idea what the mystery is though, you'd think that an author would want to market the genre a story is as soon as possible.

>green/yellow
The green choices are building to the "true" end. The yellow choices are the "alternate" end which IIRC you can only get after watching the true end.
The other seasons have slight variations on this, which is why I suggested a walkthrough.

Ahh, I see! Thanks.

Well, I'm going to nap, so the thread might go down, but thank you to you two (three?) who chatted with me.

Of course I'd be happy if this thread gets used as a general flowers or visual novel thread too!

Are these worth buying on Steam?
>>

They are quite possibly the best English-translated yuri VNs out there.
Technically, there's nothing wrong with the Steam distribution if that's what you're asking.
