Some people might like that Saya No Uta is a short VN, but I'm the kind of guy that likes his VNs with a little more meat on it's bones.

The Story of Saya No Uta is about how people are too weak mentally to accept/view reality 100% accurently, so they lie to themselves in a lot of aspects, refuse to see/accept a lot of aspects of the world and life, and "colorize" a lot to cope with reality in general. Fuminori is sick of the reality that he found himself in, so he accepts Saya as a perfect being with zero flaws and refuses to think any further or question anything about her. He becomes more and more delusional. At the end of the story, he views himself as a hero and his relationship with Saya as a beautiful love story, when in reality, he's a selfish psychopath, murderer, canibal, and a rapist, and his relationship with Saya is a disturbing, destructive relationship between a delusional fucked in the head psychopath and an abomination that turns the world into a hellscape. If Fuminori saw Saya's true form, he would've screamed, run away, and called her a monster. If he saw a recording of all the fuck up he's done, he would've killed himself out of shame. A similar thing could be said about Koji, who refused to think any further and relied on his basic instincts to judge Fuminori and Saya, and killed Yoh out of fear despite her begging him for help. It's pretty Lovecraftian. A lot of stories about the Cthulhu mythology deal with the theme of fear of the unknown. People can't deal with disturbing truths and rely on their most basic senses and instincts. Things become really fucked when said instincts and senses lie to you
