It's funny how Ueda said this was for cadual gamers yet some parts you were only able to pass by sweating and doing things precisely as possble.

I don't even mean to be contrarian but it's better than Shadow of the Colossus. Leaves a much stronger impact on an emotional level. I kinda didn't feel sad about killing colossi in the other game but everyone was like "omg it's so good because you realize you're doing something despicable". I mean that's also good, bur ICO has that purehearted connection between a boy and a slightly older girl who belong to different tribes, yet they are both in the "prison their society put them in". The castle is the society, society is the prison, and you kill the girl's mom, and get help from the girl even though you are not meant for each other, and they give you the aptly named trophy in the PS3 version "Emancipation!" As you finish the game.

And then that fucking song by the little boy happens and I almost cried. There's something universally powerful about the message in ICO, and the atmosphere in the game is amazing.

The most infuriating part is the "backtracking within backtracking". You go back and forth between the same areas but cross obstacles and have to handhold/call the girl to cross the same area again, or she gets picked up by an enemy and you have to walk back again. I won't call the game being an escort mission itself as a negative because some people might like that.
As a story and something to look at it's good though.
