>>736878085this is completely single-player. I've played TrinityS and Rabbit & Steel, I prefer Savage to both. It starts off easy but has Normal, Extreme and Savage fights (again emulating the FFXIV difficulty tiers). The mechanical complexity only gets really bad on the savage fights, but it's never too crazy. It's more about executing the mechs controlling both characters at once while also being in range to keep doing dps, while also healing/shielding as appropriate.Sounds complicated, but you get a handle on it really quickly. I still bought and played and even kinda enjoyed both, but it's more so in an endearing childish way rather than a good game way.

I actually had to use a GameFAQs Walk-through to finish the game. It's that classic.

Tangledeep! Has just under 1500 reviews on Steam, also available on GOG:https://store.steampowered.com/app/628770/Tangledeep/https://www.gog.com/en/game/tangledeepAbsolutely gorgeous pixel art dungeon crawler with excellent music and gameplay reminiscent of Azure Dreams. It's like a JRPG roguelike, and I mean a serious roguelike, as the metaprogression is limited and can be turned off entirely (you can also turn off permadeath). The game has a lot of content, there are 13 jobs and you can combine job abilities by switching between them, it has a ton of dungeon levels, a very in-depth familiar system that works on capturing monsters and then customizing and breeding them for desired traits, and a wide variety of weapon affixes. A beautiful and fun hidden gem of a game.

I'm having a great time playing exclusively indies from the new queue 95% of the time. Tons of excellent games that I like at a fraction of the price. I can talk to the developers whenever I feel like because they are attention starved for actual fans. Anyway, I recommend Tormenture. I have it in my steam library but it's unplayed because I actually pirated it and thought it was good enough to buy after the fact. Sometimes with developers I do that to I'll call it square by getting a sequel or different title they released. Evil Tonight, which is already mentioned is another time I did that, I think I bought Viviette to call it fair.
>>736896018Lots of your games had no demos. >>736898617I don't understand why that developer is worth defending to the point of where any criticism was met with telling me i haven't played the game when IT IS a hotline miami clone and not anything like Splinter Cell other than having a walk speed toggle. Yet the whole game can practically be played by going loud and rushing so whats the fucking point? why the hell even include the mechanics? So theres actually no point to using its tacked on stealth mechanics. It wasn't designed with that in mind. It's not that games not fully designed with that in mind are exactly bad stealth games. But he didn't make Hitman either so it's not winning any design points there. All that thread was is you dickriding an amateur developer that gets listed in /v/ copy pastas as supposedly 'based' developers. You don't give a fuck if the game was actually crappy. Only posting garbage from his socials and not playing his bad games but promoting them. You promote something because you like the idea of indie rather than the reality of indie actually deserving credit. It's the most cancerous shit when they're receiving undue credit. No fighting, just survival against varied (oft shitty) events. https://store.steampowered.com/app/638510/dotAGE/
>>736898886Time to make an intravenous thread, I guess.
>>736899478Time to shill the irrelevant hack that could be mistaken as a doppelganger of Phil Fish, i guess.
>>736899553I have no clue who that is.
>>736898886>it's a hotline miami clone and not at all like splinter cell
>>736859623>House of NecrosisBased.>Bye Sweet CaroleGreat artstyle, but not very fond of the actual game.In exchange, I give Out of Hands.https://store.steampowered.com/app/1839810/Out_Of_Hands/
Anyone got a contralike they can recommend?
>>736896910>PC gaminggames that are currently available without emulation feels against the spirit of the thingi mean kotor was explicitly designed as broad appeal console-friendly RPG
>>736899553You're just too scared to show your stupid fucking face because you know you're wrong and you're going to get told it directly. You think you can hide in the hidden gems thread.
>>736899814Because it is?The game doesn't punish going loud (removed stealth emphasis, optional element) therefore regarding its perspective and its pacing and "artstyle" style it closer resembles Hotline Miami.Theres a very clear distinction in design elements. That is very clear when stealth is not the primary way intended to achieve all tasks. If its open minded about player agency then it did it wrong because almost if not all of the entire game can be played like that. The issue is that we have some people who such arrogant believers that indie developers are the alternative to triple A gaming is that we have people lying for them when they're not covering a specific field of gaming despite supposedly being against the money hungry driven side of the industry. When in fact this is not true.Indie developers today are mainly recreating games they played a couple of years ago or some game that is popular with youtubers. They don't care about anything niche. Ever wonder why they have copied RE a hundred times but never bothered looking at anything else old? trend chaser driven developer. If they see one game doing well they'll just replicate it over and over.
I don't know if Huntdown counts as a hidden gem, but it's pretty fucking good. Not quite Contra or Metal Slug gameplay wise, since you can only fire straight ahead, you can take a few hits & there's health pickups/checkpoints. Three characters, a lot of boss fights, heaps of weapons, around 20 stages. Has co-op and a score-attack mode but I haven't tried them out. Good soundtrack and really good pixel art, nice detailed levels.https://store.steampowered.com/app/598550/HUNTDOWN/

>>736900163HOORAYit's funny you believe anybody gives a shit about whether one game is like another, textbook case of autism lmao
>>736900705It's only autism that you simply disliked when i said indie developers haven't contributed to a genre. Anyone who wasn't concerned with defending a sham would simply look at my statement, see that's its actually correct and walk away knowing they lacked covering development in a specific field. But not you, because you're claiming the indie scene is for the REAL gamers and triple A is not. I've got my eye on some indie commandos-likes clones. Yet i don't think they should get off lightly knowing how much they've actually missed. I don't think it's right to claim that indie scene is flawless.
>>736900830there will be a time when you can't hide from the stupid things you said.that time is now lmao.

>>736901007You've never once refuted a critique i made. Why include stealth mechanics if they can be disregarded if you've truly made a game equivalent to splinter cell? if you can solve everything by shooting? It's almost as bad as the apologist crap i heard about Gloomwood yesteday. That i shouldn't demand that other devs make games better than The Dark Mod since Gloomwood is inferior to it.
>>736901146if you truly believe your dislike for intravenous is the single reason for all the mockery, you are really not helping the whole "textbook case of autism" case

>Rift Wizard had like 150 reviews when I bought it on release>Has slowly climbed to over 1000 in the years sinceGreat game that deserves it. 2 is quite different but probably the better game. Tons of shit to play around with. And most importantly no grind to unlock any of it.https://store.steampowered.com/app/2058570/Rift_Wizard_2/An anon recommended Unferat in one of these threads forever ago. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1271750/Unferat/It's janky as fuck. While also doing a pretty good job of letting you be the evil sorcerer in the woods. I liked it a lot, definitely recommended.
>>736861768Thank you so much for your posts, several of those visually look so beautiful that just seeing them, just feeling that mix of captivation and a renewed creative passion, it's dragging me out of some severe depression just a little bit. Immensely interesting stuff, totally gonna play most of them and see if there's vids on whatever i don't try.
any other games like astlibra or ys? I'm sick and tired of every action jrpg these days being roguelikes.

>>736901206You've never had one valid retort over me calling it a bad purist stealth game so i win the argument by default and you just like a Hotline Miami clone. But the problem is that is billed as a hardcore stealth game by its shills. So that falls apart when its literally just John Wick's Metal Gear Miami or whatever the fuck it wants people to believe it is.If it had been more like Hitman then the argument might be different about its merits as a stealth game. Yet all that happening is a pixelshit room rushing game.
is there a way to see how many reviews each game in your library got? I'm too lazy to check manually
>>736901665Basically just click the game in your library, then click the link to the store page from there. That's it.
>>736899982For arcadey games you have Blazing Chrome and Iron MeatFor a bit of a mediocre metroidvania with cool music I enjoyed Guns of Fury but again it's a very average game.
>>736901310I'm glad you found them interesting. I had a similar sort of feeling when I played them. Especially Wooden Ocean and The End of Dyeus.
>>736902065What's a good element combo in Wooden Ocean? I tried Dark and expression but it seems kinda ass so far.
>>736859623>Buying steam games LOL FAGGOT goyim golem good goysI bought and found an orange gamecube the other day while you subhuman faggots are buying slop
>>736902136Everything will seem kinda ass until you get yourself some talents, good equipment, enough MP to properly cast good spells and enough AP to get those spells in the first place. For my NG+ runs I go with Radiation (great for buffing and debuffing and has a couple of extremely OP spells, notably Half Life) and Carbon (for buffing and debuffing) and primarily use a Greatsword to deal damage. Use Radiation with caution in the early game since you will give yourself and your allies cancer unless you have a certain talent. But really, every element combo is perfectly viable. The game is just pretty hard at first. Dark and Expression sounds pretty decent to me. I usually give Carbon to Alex and Dark to Amelia.
>>736902341If we didn't "buy slop" 25 years ago, you wouldn't buy your orange Bing Bing Wahoo Toy, because it wouldn't exist. You can play what we allow you to play by buying it.
>>736902435Thanks for the tips anon. One more question. What is Art and how does it affect my Expression skills?
>>736902540Art is your Ghost Town's Art level. The game doesn't tell you this directly but it increases the damage of your Expression skills. The actual calculation looks something like this: (number)*Luck + (flat value)*Art level - enemy spirit. This is absolutely excellent for exploring the endgame dungeons that decrease your stats significantly, since you can still deal a lot of damage even if your luck stat is low.If you don't know what the Ghost Town is, try exploring the forest to the west of South Katis.
>>736902926So you have to be pretty picky with your ap because every skill costs a lot to learn and you only get 1 ap per level?
>>736903059I wouldn't worry too much about that. AP is easy to come by in the mid to late game. And you should be able to get a decent amount of AP even in the early game. Just explore the overworld and dungeons, you'll find plenty of AP souls (items that give you +5 AP) lying around.

>>736887897Racism is good brownboyFor white people, not for you I mean
>>736903195>>736903059What you should be picky about is your talent points. You only get one talent point per 10 levels. They're hard to come by even in the late game. You can spend them by interacting with the tombstone thing in the middle of your Ghost Town.
>>736902498
>>736903273Yes, that's the position you should take when speaking to your benefactors.
>>736903195Ok cool. I was stressing what to learn because I thought AP was a very limited resource.>>736903246Yeah I just found that, I picked the speed up tech research and the one that gives you 3 to your Art total.
