This is the vision deus ex human revolution had for the world in the late 2020s

Here is the main menu theme ( kino )

what's stopping humanity from achieving this? and don't say the obvious answers even though they're right.

i don't know why people look up positively to that eyesore. the fact that lightning pollution is so heavy that the night sky is sepia coloured should tell you how fucked up it all is.
>>
You know instead of building all that you could build horizontally instead. It's not like they've filled up all of China.

China has vertical multilevel cities like that but it's nowhere near that complex or futuristic looking yet.

its basically midgar from ff7. also a square enix published game.

we could unironically have built something like this if the (((politicians))) were just a little less greedy

Why is this a bad thing? He can read books and rest on the train and not be stuck in a goybox for 1 hour one way in a smog filled traffic jam, paying 9 dollars a gallon for gas
>>
>>736861026
People actually want that? I've only played the first one but aren't all the games supposed to be depictions of dystopic hellholes?
>>
Everything envisioned were by artists and not by engineers.

You will not get skysrapers if you can just built fdlat building everywhere.
You dont need tall buildings in most cases because cities jist spread out.
And because of stagnating population you dont have the fear you will ever un out of new places where you can build.
>>
>>736866519
This.
It's crushing when you realise none of the cool sci-fi tropes are ever going to happen IRL because of the amount of jeets, mudshits and groids.
>>
>>736867016
No one right now is capable of it imo. If I was forced at gunpoint to give it to some studio honestly I might go for the guys that made the robocop game.
>>
>>736867914
Well, the people who live on the upper level want it.
>>
>>736868567
That too looks hellish to me, although I'm sure it would be comfortable in a completely artificial way. Not that anyone in this thread would get to live in the upper level anyway.
>>
You'd have to put a compact nuclear reactor somewhere inside the body in order for all these fancy mechanical limbs to work this way. But if humanity has access to such a technology, then it's energy problem is effectively solved, and nothing will be the way it's depitcted in Deus Ex.
>>
>>736867914
I haven’t whatever the opposite of claustrophobia is. Living in more than 500 sqft gives me anxiety. Most of my house is empty and I wish it were smaller. When I get nervous I go meditate in a wardrobe. I wanna live in one of those 230sqft micro apartments in a megacity where I could die and nobody would find out for months.

This is also good. Only difference is that then you need a car and a gigantic freezer for food. And two big dogs so the forest creatures don’t get you.

Looking at some of the other trailers, you can see what they cut out from the final product. For example, you see the Barrett fight happening in Shanghai. In the game, his death and you going to Shanghai feels contrived (why does he tell you exactly where you need to go?), which always made me suspect some of the plot elements were cut out or abridged.

>muh tiny nuclear reactor!
Stop relying on reddit concepts of science fiction. A rechargeable battery will be able to do stuff like this in 10 years. A human arm is not an Evangelion.
>>
>>736869954
The kind of arm that breaks walls and punches through armour is sci-fi by itself. It requires energy to function. Where does that energy come from? A fucking snickers?
>>
>>736860938
I mean, are those buildings even physically possible? And what about zoning? I feel like city council would piss off a lot of people by allowing them to build a giant megastructure that casts a shadow over everything else in the city. Good luck getting reelected.
>>
>>736870053
Oh, if you mean that, then... idk. Load Jensen up with a backup power base on his back. 40 batteries working in unison to help him punch through concrete. Corpos have made dumber prototypes.
>>
>>736860938
I'm going to say it

>>736870436
It's not like they don't also to that. Tong's base is in an underground parking garage.
>>
>>736860843
I think Detroit as depicted in the game is more implausible than this.
>>
>>736870436
because you have to remove and dispose of material first before you even start building. whereas if you build up, you just build

Oh wow, let me guess. You're implying that jews, black/brown people, and women are the reasons why? This is despite white dudes holding the vast majority of institutional power in the most powerful countries and what's even funnier is that this sentiment is coming from a swathe of people that holds a significant amount literal NEET losers who are too stupid and uneducated to have any sort of respectable job and are infinitely more useless and worthless than the people they complain about.
>>
>>736872694
The Old sauce was better.
>>
>>736860843
It was ridiculous even during the millennial tech industry poptimism era. The original had a way more believable and grounded aesthetic vision of the future and is set in the 2050s.
>>
>>736870053
It's a materials science and energy storage engineering issue. Not totally out of the realm of possibility at some point in the future.
The question is why would you need some super limbs to do it when other tools can job muchbmore efficiently.

I wonder what an action packed trip to Detroit entails. Like half of Detroit looks like a war zone, so I guess just setting foot in the city counts as action packed.
>>
>>736860843
Why couldn't this game just have a tragic ending that leads right into the original? Why did Eidos have to milk this confined prequel premise?
