It was to made to demo and showcase the 3d-depth gimmick of the 3ds. Without that feature, I really don't think Nintendo would have remade it even once. And it's not as if Nintendo are beyond revisiting old ideas or settings. But almost every time they've done so, a new game has been born out of it instead of a remake. Granted that modern Nintendo could very well be moving in new directions. With a new president and everything. But the old folks and seniors are still there at Nintendo, and I imagine they're still influential and I just don't think remaking a game like OoT is something that they'd like to do. And remaking OoT will likely just reflect on the game poorly. It'll make flaws of both the remake and the original stand out as their strengths and weaknesses are contrasted against each other. But personally I am just extremely sceptical to the idea of a remake being likely to be able to match or surpass the original. So why even waste the effort when an actually new game could be made instead?
