Now that the dust has settled, which one was the better 3D DK?
64
Bananza

Bananza has you actually collecting bananas as DK in worlds that aren't mostly long corridors as opposed to doing glorified Mario Party minigames relying on disconnected gameplay mechanics. Bananza is the superior game. Objectively.
Bananza easily but 64 is just not very good in generalIt's the worst Nintendo published 3D playground on the system
I like 64 more than most people but Bananza is like 100 times better lol.

Different types of game. Both collectathons but exploration is different due to the mechanics of each.DK64, like Banjo Tooie was too ambitious and ended up way too big for its own good. I even thought that back in the day. I did like it though and completed it 100%, something I didn't do with Tooie.Bananza is a much better "Pick up and play" game, and it is honestly a lot of fun. In some ways its simplicity is its charm, and it felt fresh. My heavily contained childhood autism would say DK64 for pure content, but Bananza is a much more fun game to play.
>>736874748Bananza just for being less painful to get the true ending. However I think 64 has the better art direction.
i think both are good. 64 with improvement mods like instant switching and some other stuff would make it great
>>736874748Bananza has no challenge outside the postgame, so 64 is better by default.

>>736874748I've only played 64, but Bananza and it's not even close.
Bananza, but the tag anywhere mod for dk64 massively improves the experience.
I cant stop having this weird feeling i should give Bananza a chance, but everything i've seen about it just doesnt convince me at all, and yes, i played the demo and it didnt help either. I thing my biggest problem is that I've never been fan of DK as character and universe overall despite having some legit great games, but on ther other side, i feel like this game is "this gen 3d Mario" so i should give it a chance...
>>736876364A lot of people who weren't into Zelda gave BotW a shot, a lot of people who don't keep up with every Mario game gave Odyssey a shot, Bananza is kinda in that same boat. It feels like it's going to be a generational game for this series so if you've got any kind of remote curiosity, it makes sense to jump in here. The Bananza aesthetic is going to be on everything the same way Returns' was in all the Mario spinoffs and Smash Bros installments that came after it.I also don't think this is replacing a 3D Mario for this gen, given that Odyssey's main director and producers weren't involved with it. I think they just broke off a chunk of the Odyssey team and turned them into a DK team.
