I've been enjoying my new play through after having not touched it since launch. Ignoring the main story for now though, doing side quests here and there, but mostly just fucking around in space. Doing a lot of dog fighting, ship boarding, and running into new POIs with Cruise Mode. I did install a mod that nerfs the ship registration fee so that taking over ships and selling them is a viable way to make money.

Every RPG adds Food yet does fuckall with it until a modder comes in and adds in a system to actually utilize food/drink/sleep/hygiene mechanics. There are a bunch of gameplay options that you can adjust that add or subtract XP gain in exchange for increased or decreased difficulty. Like you could set yourself to do a shit load more damage, or set enemies to do a shit load of damage, or do both. You can have food just do the normal thing, or you could make it required to fulfil hunger/thirst.
