.
fuck that shit, i just want a good d-pad
Symmetrical and O to confirm
>>736887557neither are symmetric
>>736887557I think two sticks are too much
>>736887557Say what you want about Playstation now, but PS2 was the best console with the biggest library and it had to have a good controller. Symmetrical is just better design. Also I'm of the boat that the PS5 Triggers are best inventions since the Rumble Feature but that's an entirely different argument.
>>736887557Asymmetrical, but opposite of Xbox layout
What's a good controller with a symmetrical layout? I've worn through my ps4 controller analog stick rubber covers. Something wireless preferably. I mostly play racing and skateboarding (twin sticks) games, so maybe 1-piece rubber sticks and not rubber covered
>>736887679PS5 would be the best controller if it didn't suffer from the same curse as every modern controller that is being made of cheap plastic you're meant to replace every month.
>>736887557symmetrical is obviously the better design, look at your hands, are they asymmetrical and deformed?
>>736887583il diavolo...
>>736887557Symmectrical because d-pad location; any other position besides on top is wrong.
>>736887756wash your hands and stop thowing your controller against the wall when you get angry you freak
>>736887557asymmetricalyour thumbs go naturally to the top of the controller is only natural to have there the things that matterthe d pad and left analog are less used so they go to the bottom
>>736887557I don't really have a preference. Both arrangements work fine.>>736887574Yeah, that I do care about.
>>736887804Oh, thanks, now they drift after a little more than a month
>>736887806If you're playing a game that doesn't use the right analog you'd be better off using the d-pad anyway, so it should be in the natural position.
>>736887557Just give me more face buttans.
>>736887557Xbox controller unless I'm emulating playstation games or dual joystick arcade games like smash tv.
>>736887742dualsense edge, despite the price compared to normal one, it have a good dpad (especially if you play fightans) and extremely low input latency both wired or wireless; since you use the joysticks, they can easily be swapped as wellbesides that, my favourite symmetric controller is the wii classic pro controller; but good luck finding one
>>736887869>”getting niggers who get stick drift in weeks or months when normal people never get it ever to acknowledge it’s something they’re doing wrong and not the controller” challenge: impossible
>>736887756that just not truth and you would know that if you ever held dualsense in your hands, it feelsy sturdy, heavy and doesnt make weird creak noises like other playstation/xbox/nintendo controllers
>>736887574so left then
>>736888228>$200 dollars for a fucking controller
>>736888461>>736888456>getting niggers who get stick drift in weeks or monthsDo you hear yourself? I said the controller would be the best, so are you really going to damage control for how much you have to spend on a controller that can't even splurge for decent sticks, the most important part of the damn thing?
>>736888228>$270CADNah, man. I don't feel like buying the regular one for $95, I'm not buying a 270$ controller. My midi controller was cheaper than that and it's got 26 buttons and 16 encoders
>>736887574Flydigi's dpads are so fucking good that it was worth worth through the asymmetrical layout.
Definitely prefer the stick layout on the Sony controllers but wish they found a way to do the Xbox battery compartment idea though I guess that’s part of what gives those controller a cheap hallow feel being way too light.
>>736888526>>736888696It sucks that it's this expensive, but that's the only mainstream option for a modern controller with a proper d-pad (because nowadays d-pads are seen as additional controls rather than primary ones):- Normal dualsense d-pad wobbles and do ghost diagonals- Switch joycons are horrendous, switch pro have even more ghost diagonals- Xbox controllers on top of not having good placement have non-standard shapes- Upcoming Steam controller will likely have the same as the deck, which is mid at bestSpecs-wise the controller do have some interesting stuff to it as well (latency as said before, hotswap buttons/joysticks, trigger course)If willing to go for non-mainstream options, then 8bitdo and retrobit aren't that bad, but last 8bitdo I used died on me after 6-8 months of use. Otherwise using a brook adapter with your favourite old controller also works, but you lose wireless compatibility
>>736889194>Upcoming Steam controller will likely have the same as the deck, which is mid at bestI was trying to wait for that one, I want to use the trackpad to use my windows cursor.>8bitdo and retrobit aren't that bad, but last 8bitdo I used died on me after 6-8 months of useyeah, I was eyeing the pro and the ultimate controller. they're cheap, but like you say, "they're cheap." IS there really nothing in the middle?
>>736887557For me, it's KB+M.
i don't understand how people use playstation dpads. they are so extremely uncomfortable for anything. fgs, platformers, top down stuff. awful
>>736889194>$200 controller>1 year warrantyI don't have high hopes for that controller's QC or durability either
>>736887742No such thing as a good controller with symmetrical layout because symmetrical is SHIT
>>736887557Trackpads
>>736887557I tried an Xbox style controller for the first time a few weeks back, and I have to think you people are brain-damaged to find that shit more comfortable.
>>736887557>lefthomosexual and based>rightstraight and cringe
>>736887557Symmetrical = Default NPCAsymmetrical = Inverted Chad
>>736887557Asymmetrical is better for Japanese fighting games with all the circle motions since the left stick is in the centrrSymmetrical is better for games like mortal Kombat where you might need to use the D pad for inputs
Why did they downgrade the dpad from the DS4 to the dualsense? I want to like the dualsense more but every time I use it I'm reminded that the dpad is worse than the DS4.
>>736887742Gamesaar is apparently releasing a wireless version of their tegenaria lite sometime in the future. I'd wait for that if you absolutely hate to have a cable.
>>736890809Wait for the price reveal if anything, getting rid of the wire would not be worth a $20 surcharge for example
>>736887557>ENTER
>>736890574ds4's dpad is the worst thoughbeit
>>736891110so awful it worked and is somehow the best controller nintendo ever released
>>736890949Their tarantula pro has a MSRP of $80 and that's way too much for what it is. Even at $40 the hypothetical tegenaria wireless would still be a good value.
>>736887557With or without pubic hair? Now thats a real question.
>>736887574get megadrive controller
>>736891110>Makes literally the best controller ever made>It's not natively PC compatible and they never made it againWhat the fuck is Nintendo's problem
>>736887557>symmetricalWhy? Because I'm used to it.
>>736890809Yeah no wonder, every video I looked up about that controller had someone in the comments bitching about it being wired. I hope the wireless version still remains lightweight, the dualsense was fuckin unbearable for me due to the battery and haptics, had to take them out.
I'm a sucker for gimmicky controller and I wanted picrel so much
>>736887557This is one of those things where there's no natural preference so its totally about exposure. I preferred symmetrical as a kid because I had a PS2 until I started playing on PC and XBOX 360 controllers were the best option for PC gaming that I knew of and eventually I adapted. There's really no logic to it, either way.
>>736887806>the left analog is less usedIs it 2005 or something?
>>736891110Why did literally only this controller ever use this layout? It was super comfy.
>>736892145What do you use now then for PC? because it was my case as well but when I got pic related It felt fucking terrible, returned it the next day. Had to settle with a DS4 despite not liking the shape.
>>736887583Excellent choice bro. The Dualshock2 was pretty close to perfect, but underside or a third row of back buttons would have made it perfect.
>>736887557i use both all the time, like an anon mentioned above, i went from the ps2 to x360 and didn't even notice the stick placements changed
>>736887557Symmetrical with both sticks on the upper half
>>736887557xbox layout.I use controller for games that do not require constant camera controls so asymetrical is more comfortable.genuinely my biggest gripe with my deck>>736887986enjoy playing racing games with dpad then
>>736888014This was the peak controller and it's a shame SEGA themselves sort of ruined it in the Dreamcast.
>>736894502>moves thumbYour response?
