i was expecting an RPG but this game just felt like a fucking visual novel. fucking false advertising.

I didn't find the conversations interesting or entertaining, even though they were well acted.

>felt like a fucking visual novel. fucking false advertising
I agree, and I kinda liked the game.

There's a mobile version of it, too, and I wonder if they actually streamlined it so that it isn't a chore to play.
>>
Why is every rpg thread extremely boring bait

The thing about radical far-left/communist art is that the essence of their worldview is ultimately killing all the white people. I find this makes it weird to experience their stories, it's almost like every piece of media made in that way is consciously or unconsciously trying to be The Grasshopper Lies Heavy.

I recently played it for the first time. A lot of dialogue. I knew that going in but holy shit there is no gameplay except endless talking. Even BG3 had gameplay.

The game also has near 0 replayability. "omg I can try a run as a communist!" only gives you slightly different dialogue options and that's it.

I played a centrist moralist moralintern where all i cared about was the case and being a good detective that uncovered his past and cared about police shit and I got the best ending possible.

People say the game trashes any other choice besides communist but idk the game trashed all ideologies and evart was a scumbag dictator commie in disguise.

>no gameplay except endless talking
that's the shit i don't get, unless you got the game at release, you've got no excuse NOT KNOWING it's a branching narrative with isometric view
i guess some call it a CRPG for shilling purposes, but it seems like the average moron has never even heard of text and point-and-click adventures with no "real gameplay"
>>
>>736887860
It's a commie meme game.

This, kek

The ignorance of some of these anons is beyond comprehension. They must be modern console gamers; there’s no other excuse for being so clueless about vidya.

These actually had gameplay, thought.

The fans of the game do this a lot. Personally I'm just pissed that the detective shit is borderline false advertising.
>>
>>736893061
you play as a detective. how is that false advertising?

>>736893147
That's the same as claiming Mario is some sort of plumbing simulator.

This is literally what is says on Steam: "Disco Elysium - The Final Cut is a groundbreaking role playing game. You’re a detective with a unique skill system at your disposal and a whole city to carve your path across. Interrogate unforgettable characters, crack murders or take bribes. Become a hero or an absolute disaster of a human being."

no where does it say "detective simulator"
>>
>>736896490
You are just being anal. Because it's clearly being marketed as some sort of detective game, but none of the mechanics support that, and even Harry's role as a "detective" is a bit suspect.
>>
>>736887860
I'm a brainlet who doesn't care about politics and philosophy, so this didn't appeal to me. Dropped it after 6 hours
>>
>>736896562
you are just being retarded. harry is a detective. you play as harry.

>The fat communist who's done nothing but impede your investigation was actually le wholesome chungus all along and the only character who comes out winning in the end
Wow, it really does criticize all sides equally~!
>>
>>736896593
Yeah, and Mario is a plumber, but that has zero affect on his game.

Would you thus call Marios "plumbing games"? No, you wouldn't. Unless you keep pretending to be retarded.
>>
>>736896660
>Would you thus call Marios "plumbing games"?
i would
>>
>>736887860
This is a trash detective game. I managed to hit the 2% chance to calculate the trajectory of the bullets in the last quarter of the game, and it gave me an objective to explore possible shooter locations in each of the 3 islands. Of course you can't actually explore the 3rd island until the game lets you, so I just had a pop up constantly reminding me of an unfinished quest objective that I could not achieve despite wanting to. The game is filled with other moments like these and it feels cheap once you see it.
If you just want a game giving you a pat on the back for being a jobless loser who believes communism will allow you to jack off to anime and play video games all day while meeting all your needs and wants, just say so, but don't trick people who are into investigations and detective shit along the way

Ace Attorney. It's basically a visual novel too, but you still get more of a sense of detecting stuff.

>that's the shit i don't get, unless you got the game at release, you've got no excuse NOT KNOWING it's a branching narrative with isometric view
Nice reading comprehension. I never complained about the isometric view. There are plenty of games that are isometric and still have gameplay. DE has literally 0 gameplay. It's just endless reading.
>>
>>736897207
He talks about Hardie , I suppose. At least I, personally, was angry at the fact that the game forces me to take bullets for him and his idiots, although all they did was tell me to fuck off the whole game and were ready to jump on me with guns in the bar
>>
>>736887860
i enjoyed the art and atmosphere but didn't get very far, the story failed to keep me interested
>>
>>736897269
but what will i be fake outraged about then?

Communism needs too many words to explain and because of that it will never catch on. Saying “other guy with x characteristic is bad” will always be easier.

Return of the Obra Dinn.

i mean the commie lowbrow angle of "X guy is bad" is talking about the bourgeois, but unlike straightforward more usurpers they'll bring up their wack ownership philosophy instead of "and if you help me take down the bad X guy you'll get a cut"

Every Witcher game has like, one or two purely detective quests, and they are always the best fucking quests in those games.
Even Cyberpunk had a good detective side quest.

I wish CD-Red made a new, purely detective game

The cardinal sin of any narrative game with choices is ascribing how (you) should feel in any given situation. I don't need to personally execute Titus, but I do need to have the option of saying "good riddance".

>>736901163
And then you would get a game over because you got fired for not doing your damn job.

Oh sweet, a crpg about role playing a policema....
>it's actually a visual novel about talking to 5 people who dump walls of text about their politics on your ass for no reason and the story just unfolds without you doing any real investigating
>>
>>736901183
I did not know Martinaise had a hate speech law that prohibits insulting the death of stupid stooges. I mean I literally said that I don't need to execute Hardies, just another option to respond to their demise. Next you're gonna pull the UHM ACTUALLY HARRY IS A DISTINCT CHARACTER AND SO NOT A SELF-INSERT EVEN WITH ALL THE LUNATIC RPG HOBOING AROUND card, I presume?
Also,
>well if you insist on X then Y would have to happen
is a silly rebuttal for a piece of fiction, when every cause and effect is in the hands of the writers.
