none of this adds up, why did they bloat their game on purpose? the textures are still a blurry mess.
what the fuck did the cocksucking devs do to the game? why are they bloating old games? are they retarded? people don't have either infinite internet speed or even enough storage.

even regular programs are getting needlessly bloated and don't mention electron. even fucking Blender is needlessly over 200 megs and is getting bigger every update (for "some reason")

It's barely half that 30GB, with a ton of it being huge texture files. But that's not all it is. It's downloading creation club shit, and adding to to the game, but making you pay to unlock it.

The blurry textures are the fault of a combination of engine settings, you can alter those to fix it. Also, the stock textures the game launched with were much better than you might realize because of this. What I'm getting at is that yes, it is pointless bloat.

Godot used to be like 20mb and is now reaching 200mb. it's still small but in the overall it just doesn't scale with the features added.

Counter-Strike: Source was if I recall back in 2012 like a gigabyte or even less. in the past two decades it has been relatively untouched save for bug fixes. and it's now 4.5GB.

Two reasons:

high res textures takes up a lot of space, people bitch hard when they see a low res texture in video games. Hell, one of the most popular mods for skyrim is even higher quality texture mods which boosts the file sizes higher

secondly, storage has been extremely cheap for the longest time. People hate loading screens as evidenced with Starfield. By duplicating data and ensuring that you dont need to decompress data to read it, you bloat the file sizes but make the loading faster which makes people happier.

In the end it's all about pleasing consumers.
