You're just in the streamlined part. It's fine. Monster Hunter was always a super padded, grinding slog, they just changed that for the "story" so you don't get too bogged down before the next beat. Get into the title update monsters and some of the issues are alleviated. Unfortunately, they went too far in the other direction with the hardest stuff and they made things difficult through necessitating parryslop/i-frames non-MH action game bullshit.

It feels very inconsistent also. In old MH the animations were very slow, but it was pretty clear about what just happened and its impact. In Wilds some stuff just barely has any weight.

The single player Tempered Gore Magala quest with Nadia made me drop the game again. 32 minutes of managing to GS uncharged draw slash the head before it jumped out of reach or battered me for 80% of my health with a minor attack. I had it in the red but with the ballooned HP it got my last cart. Haven't been back since.

Most of the areas in this game are just ass, and are made worse by the fact that the seikrets just auto taxi you straight up the monsters' buttholes. I honestly do not understand why they would create bigger more detailed maps just to then put something in the game that allows you to ignore and not internalize any of it. Hopefully the G-rank expac will disable the auto-tracking taxi service, though probably not considering all the new tertiary fans would fill their diapers over it; God forbid we actually have to actually hunt down a monster.

That's a trend that started with XX and its bullshit like Adept Style, Focus Mode is just another iteration of that.
For the records: World actually pushed back a bit against that by heavily gating things such as adept evasion to a mantle, then Rise went back and doubled down on that and since apparently people who call themselves "MH vets" liked being invincible 24/7 so much they decided to keep most of that in Wilds outside of the gay bugs.
Also for the records 2.0:
XX had way more broken "parryslop" than Wilds considering even Charge Blade had an actual perfect block with zero recovery frames in that game and everyone and their mom also had a (very generous) perfect evade on demand that didn't need to enter a second mode either.
The so called "positon-based heavy impact gameplay" died with 4U, made a short comeback with Worldborne and then died for good with Rise, so don't try to imply that Milds is the great satan or anything because it's merely keeping up with some thing the portable games started a decade ago, it's literally not doing anything new on that side.

Then the stupid story focuses around these hippy sand munching faggots telling you to not kill the bio weapons. With way to many slow "Walk n' Talk" segments.

I still blame the weapon/armor skill split.
Playing World I had different armor sets for every element and a few more for side weapons. That meant hunting a large variety of monsters to build all that up.
Wilds literally every weapon uses the same armor. Maybe you get some hunting variety for weapons but most you just want the melded ones so you just ended up fighting the same monster over and over and over.

I just went back to Mh4u online (pretendo) and I am unironically having "a blast".

Wilds sucks so bad, I think if this is the way that the next game will be, and I am almost sure it will, because for some reason there are enough players even now, I will never buy another monhun title again.

Wilds feels so wet, sloppy and undefined, yet it somehow manages to make you feel slow as well, its like wading through non-newtonian liquid which at random moments totally releases you and then just makes you feel like a poorly positioned loser again, hacking away at the attack button while holding down the focus mode button so you magically zoom up the monsters ass with each attack. I hate this game.
