Like Gears but no random encounters or platforming. Basically just a traditional turn base jrpg from the 2000's but with a weird roulette gimmick. Each episode changes things up gameplay wise with the 3rd game perfecting the gameplay and getting it right. 2nd episode was pretty bad but if you can get through that then the 3rd game will feel like a breath of fresh air. There's also giant robot battles like Gears but they don't become important until episode 2 and 3.

Cheats, don't let shitty gameplay hold you back. For me, movement speed is a must. Everyone felt so much slower in episode 2. Wish I haven't deleted my notes and tables or I'd post mine. Couldn't stand the new combat either and just made an Infinite ST and EC code too.

Playing Xenosaga 1 and its pretty hard blind. Missable events, items, so many stat points to distribute you could make someone useless or op. Requires some grinding. Bosses usually kick your ass the first time around trying to learn them. Dungeons dont have shops so if you run out of items before a boss, too bad you gotta redo it properly stocked

The big trick is to grind with Shion the first time you play as her. She's solo and can fairly quickly win the random encounters and you get good xp there due to how the xp system works. Spend a while leveling the hell out of her and then all other party members join at her level.

The combat system is slow and very annoying for random fights so this is the best way to speed up the rest of the game greatly. Grinding normally with full party takes forever since xp is distributed equally.
