Armored Core thread?
I just picked this up and killed the big helicopter thing but I feel like my movement is super clunky anyone got any hot tips?

How far into builds have you gotten? If you favor quick twitchy gameplay you would probably prefer a straight schneider build. Experiment with the lightweight stuff. It's high risk but high reward a lot. Much more mobile.

Like not at all, I've just ran a couple of the same basic missions just to buy and test out some of the different guns, I have some mech parts I changed one or two but I don't know if I notice a difference. The stats are kinda weird I geuss they make sense? Some of the parts almost don't seem to change the numbers much at all but I geuss I havn't played enough to be able to compare stuff yet. Just kinda mucking around with paintjobs, the customizations nice.

You can replay levels over and over to get infinite money to buy out everything and build whatever you want. Typically certain bosses are countered by different things so you can either roleplay and make a do it all build or minmax and do a build to counter whatever level you pick.

Is there a way to have more ammo. I ran out of ammo at the helicopter fight and was right before my 2 hour mark so i didnt give it another shot. Was about my only complaint is i just wanted to go full in on guns instead of melee
>>
>>736891085
Upgrade your generator+booster and assault boost more. Keep in mind that AC6 isn't as fast as gen 4 so you will just have to get used it.
>>736891490
I really enjoy the nexus opening.

Fighting around these cities makes me kinda feel like I'm acid a little bit. The buildings and trees everything being so toylike almost gives me flash backs to the cities in old ace combat games and stuff like that

Do your arena matches and your pilot certs from AllMind. Unlock kick, ejecting weapons, etc. Also hardlock is super nice on gamepad and takes over a lot of overhead for when things get quick, even if it does make your weapon tracking a little worse.

>>736891602
>The stats are kinda weird I geuss they make sense? Some of the parts almost don't seem to change the numbers much at all but I geuss I havn't played enough to be able to compare stuff yet.
I forget the keybind but there's a button that opens up a more in-depth stat description when you're in the parts menu, and there's another that lets you highlight individual stats to get a more in-depth explanation. Some shit is still kinda opaque (hello there, firearm specialization) but it'll get you pretty far.

Replace the starter generator and FCS first - they're literally just the worst in the game. Most everything else at least has niche uses.

>>736893338
You just have to sword it. You'll unlock a kick and more ammo efficient weapons later but your starting rifle just isn't going to be enough to get you there.
>>
I wish they'd port VD to PC, it's literally built for it and would fix a lot of problems
The low framerate would be fixed
The whole online component would be amazing with the steam community
It's designed for voice chat

Its the most accessible Armored Core by far. If you play the older AC, its more of the same thing with modern tech. That and stagger that might make shit annoying for you, checkpoint making resource management a joke (unless you want the best rank), and you're automatically a Human+

The most important part of your build is your legs.
Normal is normal
Reverse jointed is light, gives you speed and super jump
Spider is heavy but lets you over and do sick spins
Tank is super heavy and tanky, with high load weight

The second most important part is your reactor. This is what will decide on your energy. Small reserve but fast recharge, or the opposite, length of fly mode, boosting speed, dodge cooldown etc.

Rest doesn't matter as much. Head is for scanner stats, torso is just a HP bag, arms depend on weapon weight, booster is for speed stats.

Impact is the weapon stat you want to check, this is what does stagger damage. Ideally you want a fast damage dealing weapon for when the target is staggered, and a high impact weapon to stagger.
Impact damage is the damage bonus dealt while the target is staggered.

Being clunky is one of the ways they make some parts weak enough to make you consider using others. The sprint boost shit helps you quickly move forward, and it's often worth staying way above the ground. Even when that makes your energy meter empty out, it'll usually refill before you hit the ground.
>>
>>736891085
>I feel like my movement is super clunky
It does, until it clicks. After the helicopter it gets "easier" until you hit Balteus which is a major gatekeeper. It either clicks against Balteus, or it doesn't. Dont be afraid to buy and sell parts as there's no penalty for doing so - mix it up till you find the built you like.
>>
>>736891085
I got this and I found it really entertaining but at some point my basic build was no good enough and all the options available overwhelmed me. I just finished SOTE, so I'll probably give this another try, because I was really having fun with it.
>>
>>736893694
Japanese companies are patently allergic to their old games for some reason. I'd pay money for ports of all the older AC games, and I'm sure others would as well.
>>
>>736896804
I just used whichever parts seemed fun at the time and got through NG++. It helps if you know what a certain boss is weak to and bring weapons for that, but you don't have to optimize the build nearly as much as you have to be good at action games.
>>
>>736897502
I would say there's a single mission where it really, REALLY helps to bring a certain type of loadout.

I've been replaying Gen 1. Finished Project Phantasma yesterday. AC1 is a lot more enjoyable if you know about the Karasawa. You just fucking melt everything for the entire game. I didn't remember anything about Project Phantasma since I last play it a few years ago. It's pretty cool. Becoming overpowered in these games is very satisfying. I fucking love the Arena. Can't wait to start the next game.
>>
>>736893694

>>
>>736898390
i really don't like project phantasma, it got rid of most things i liked about 1. the missions are longer but boring and there's no variation, the worldbuilding is completely gone and is replaced by standard cutscenes with very poorly written character drama, the mercenary feel is gone because it's very linear and you're pretty much the good guy saving the world
master of arena is much much better, that game is armored core perfected

my mech looks like fuking shit my only stipulation was that it was cobalt blue and the secondary colour has to be the exact mathematical opposite
>>
>>736898624
Honestly, I see Gen 1 as a single game. Probably has a ton to do with the ability to transfer your save, the gameplay is unchanged across titles, and each game is relatively short. I love AC1 for what it is. Overall, I do prefer it over Project Phantasma; although to me PP just feels like a different leg of the journey that has a larger focus and more standard way of story telling. It's just refreshing to get something slightly different than AC1. I don't remember anything about MoA other than I recall it being my favorite, likely because of the Arena itself. Once again, ultimately just more AC1 except I get to fight a fuck ton of AC's, which is my favorite part of the franchise.

I can't wait for AC7. I really wonder what they have cooking. I liked AC6 but it had some ideas that I wasn't a fan of gameplay wise. The multiplayer was super underbaked.

I like master of arena because it's a way of making nineball more present in gen 1.

It looks good. The colors work well with each other and there's smart placement of the secondary. It might just look weird having those specific shades of blue and orange on an Armored Core.

>I liked AC6 but it had some ideas that I wasn't a fan of gameplay wise.
Gameplay was a blast, there's just piss poor customization options and replaying sees you reusing a lot of the same exact parts because there's no competitors. I could make a shitton of build outs and save them but what's the point if it's impossible not to have part overlap?
>>
>>736894678
>torso is just a HP bag
Absolutely not. The booster and generator adjustment stats can be more important for stamina and energy load than the generator itself.

Give this a try sometime, I was having a lot of fun with it.

Right hand:
Sampu burst handgun that rusty uses
Left hand:
attache heavy machinegun by RaD
Left shoulder:
6 shot straight missile launcher
Right shoulder:
Earshot for the punish

Mind beta reverse joint legs for them high jumps.

Staggers hard and punishes with the earshot, just gotta get up close and personal. Earshot has really good AoE damage too, so if you jump high and theyre on the ground, you'll hit them in the blast radius.

>and killed the big helicopter thing but I feel like my movement is super clunky anyone got any hot tips?
Just play the game.
Go to Generators page, expand the information, click on extra information button which explains what each stat does, read them and learn. Do the same Booster. Get a good combo of Generator + Booster that fits how you want to play:
- Quick Boost a lot?
- Stay in the air longer?
- Fast recharge?
- Superior Assault Boost?

etc.

Have fun.

I beat all the 3 endings with a shitty Generator and Booster combo, it was until the last achievement, getting S-Rank for all missions, when I was forced to optimize my AC a bit.
>>
Look at this absolutely blessed time period where we were getting a new armored core game every single fucking year.
>>
>>736891085
You are meant to feel extremely clunky at the beginning, as you start with a meh chasis, terrible targeting, missing weapons in your loadout and THE worst boosters and engine in the game. My advice?, just keep playing and you’ll eventually get the parts for a kickass mech. Upgrade that engine, boosters and SCD and you’ll instantly be able to tell the difference.
