oblivion quests>Steal a book from a temple inhabited by blind monksSkyrim quests>steal a book that for whatever reason is in a cave full of skeletons
>>736893247You lost.
>>736893301>appeal to plebeians Yes. Mediocrity is usually inherently be more popular as it appeals to the lowest common denominator.I bet you play for fun
>Start up oblivion>oh boy i cant wait to explore the game>exit sewers, WOWWW THIS IS CRAZY>go to ruin and go inside and start exploring>its a bunch of no name NPCs with procedural loot>run around the maze of a dungeon wondering what secrets i will find>find a chest, filled with a bunch of procedural loot>spend 5 minutes walking back to entrance of dungeon>huh, well that was ok. lets go to the other side of the map and see what a dungeon over there is like, i bet i will find all kinds of secrets and high level enemies>find a dungeon>its the same thing. get some generic iron armor that isnt better than the stuff i got from first dungeonand then i realized everything really is procedural and there is no point in exploring random stuff or looking for secrets with powerful loot so i just found a dungeon with a good seed where all the enemies are close together and the chest near the entrance and once NPC swere leveled up to start dropping daedric/glass i reset that dungeon over and over when i needed gold.SKyrim at least had word walls.>but the quests in oblivion were betterhand crafted quests in linear RPGs tend to better anyways, I dont play elder scrolls for the quests i play for the exploration and artifact hunting, oblivion has the weakest exploration in the series in that regard, at least skyrim had word walls to encourage me to explore a new dungeon.
>>736893247YYYEEEAAAHHHH KILL EVERYTHING WWOOOOOOO HAHAHA VIOLENCE IS SO AWESOME SLASH SLASH SLASH FUCK STORY AND FUCK IMMERSION FAGGOT
>>736893395Bro, Oblivion is one of rhe most braindead and mediocre games ever made. The only plebian here is you. Get off your high horse, retard. And stop making these threads every day, faggot. Oblivion sucks.
>>736893638Yeah I played Oblivion for the first time with the remaster and I didn't see a point to 90% of the caves. Literally seen one seen em all, and all the treasure chests have is vendor trash. At least Skyrim ties them to quests and has remarkably better rewards for exploring them.
>>736893834still less braindead than skyrim
>>736893301No, we all did. Some just can't see it.
>>736893247I've been playing Oblivion and I honestly am finding the game a huge step down from Morrowind... I've tried to basically beeline the mage guild quests to unlock spell customisation and a good deal of the quests I basically had to cheese between ubertank zombies or bandit camps. There's been far more jank that I'd experienced in Morrowind too. The quest where the mage girl is ambushing all the merchants ended anticlimactically due to her getting into a fight with a mountain lion and getting destroyed. Even now that I've unlocked spell making there's far more limitations on them and I'm kinda fucked because I didn't have restoration levelled so now all my attribute spells are subpar.
>>736893925All of the good loot in oblivion is tied to quests also? What are you talking about?Just in general i liked the theming of the dungeons in oblivion better. I like the underground brick temples over every place in skyrim being a draugr tomb.
>>736894026The mages guild quests are probably the most fun in oblivion. Its mostly just the leaders being assholes trying to troll you. Theres only two quests that require you to go in a cave/dungeon out of the 8 to get skill crafting. Unless you built wrong, restoration is really easy to level up. You should almost always be casting a spell while you walk around.
>>736894341The recommendation letter quests were such a kiiii you literally got all the tea and they told you all the drama and feuds they had between them, the questline about taking down the head necromancer was weak imo
>>736894026restoration buffing your attributes was something i really liked in morrowind/oblivion. I liked making a cleric/priest type guy who buffed combat stats to insane degree but was weak without buffs. it annoyed me how skyrim took out attributes and didnt have a playstyle like that, but i guess you had alchemy which was sort of similar.
>>736894341Yeah, I tend to lean towards the Mage Guild since they're quite silly. Those combats are genuinely quite rough though. I even went and got the funky lightning bolt spell and I was struggling with getting damage in.Yeah, I figured it a little late. I've sort of fucked myself with restoration and conjuring unfortunately. I didn't remember how the major system worked in this game so now I'm sorta screwed from spamming alchemy for gold. My stats aren't too bad, it took me a little longer to get my endurance points but I have my int and other than conjuring and restoration my spells are at a good level. I'm like level 11 right now and I haven't even gone and done the hell gates yet.
>>736894425They should have kept the theming of internal strife. Have the quest line revolve around finding the rats in the guild and breadcrumb up to finding the big bad
Luv Oblivion. Luv making absorb/damage fatigue weapons and just ragdolling people. Very fun.
Which other guild is fun for quests? Or should I go and actually do some of the main story? I haven't been able to activate the Thieves Guild or the Dark Brotherhood yet
>>736895247Dark Brotherhood is neat. You just gotta murder somebody to get invited.
>>736893301So this...is the power...of appealing to broader demographics....whoa.And rereleasing the same game over and over again for over a decade.
>>736893834Now if I were defending Oblivion specifically, you may have had a point.Skyrim was a streamlined version of Oblivion, which was a streamlines version of Morrowind, which was a streamlined version of Daggerfall, and so on. The popularity rises as the games become simplified.

>>736893395>I bet you play for funWhy else would I play vidya?
>>736897936
