Where are the fucking ROME games?
Where are the Rome-themed Diablo games, RPGs and first person shooters/combat games?
You'd think even consolecasuals would have some sort of Ancient Rome Dark Souls by now.
I'm stuck using AI chatbots for this shit forever arent I?

Expeditions: Rome exists and it’s quite good. Lucullus is based.

I really enjoyed Expeditions Conquistador. What a great game in a completely underutilized setting

Never played it, only Viking and Rome

Rome is gay and has no history, the empire lasted for 1000 years straight and produced nothing of value.

Where are the great Roman inventions? Where are the famous roman books or poems? Where is the Roman legacy? Jews are still here, Christians are still here, Confucius is still being cited, we still drink tea but garum has been completely forgotten. What survives, for example the writing system, has been completely bastardized. Meanwhile in China normal people can understand texts contemporary to Augustus

Rome is gay

TW: Rome and Caeser III are overrated is my hot take. Might pirate the others.
Its just a pity that Paradox dropped the ball on picrel.
>>
The history of Rome seems pretty fascinating. Any good videos or reliable sources to get me on the fast track to learning the history of the Roman Empire??
>>
I like the Greeks more

Europe from its Origins. It starts from the Christianisation of Rome so there is much to learn about before, but it is the best history series I've ever seen. You will actually understand the patchwork of history, how one thing led to another, and therefore broadly know when various events happened even without exact dates because you know what happened before that led to it and what it in turn led to after. It changed history for me; no longer a bunch of isolated events, but now a coherent narrative.

The above is the first episode. Hope you like it.

Rome really isn't that rare in vidya

Yes, it's not a common setting for games, but historical games in general aren't. The only premodern historical settings more common then Rome are like Medieval Europe, Feudal Japan, and maybe China and Egypt

If you wanna talk about actual underutilized historical settings, then there's Mesopotamia, India, Mesoamerica, the Andes, etc

I was just about to say that modern DEI would have India as a setting
Now I'm thinking of some kind of civ management
>beggars everywhere
>caste system
>religious suicide via juggernauts (and trains if modern)
>>
I think rome shows up in games but it's always just in the civ kind of shit.
It's boring, the closest to a 3d one was Ryse son of rome.

Like half a dozen strategy games and city builders, wow such an overspammed genre and setting.
