Staying out of range and skipping turns instead of rushing to finish the fight as soon as possible is usually better. I also always try to pick at least 1 movement active for my cats so they can still get out of the way even with their movement used up, even something like the collarless Hop has been lifesaving. I love Thief's Rebound or whatever the ability is that hits an enemy and pushes it 10 tiles back. I'm not even breeding and culling them that well either, I have about 79 cats currently and my kittens have more 4s, 5s and 6s than 7s.TL;DR I don't think being retarded matters as long as you're playing normal difficulty, just don't do risky playstyles
