I'm really enjoying this game
>>
Do you use multiple squads? You always end up with a lot of money anyway.
>>
>>736905460
I've only been using 1 squad mostly while I have Ira and Dimtri as militia trainers. I've only recently started playing though.
>>
>>736905524
Try hiring more people after you get some cash, preferably to capture different locations so you expand faster. In both 2 and 3 I always ended up sitting on millions without hiring top tier mercs by the end of the game.
>>

I played the game for the first time recently, but only a handful of hours(too many games to play, man). I hired a guy without any gear whatsoever because I assumed I'd load up my team in the next screen or something. Ended up in the first mission with nothing on him, so I had him just hang back, found a random knife on the ground, got him to pick it up, then had him become my stealth guy throwing the knife at people. Scrounge whatever shit I could off the people I killed and geared him up that way.
I totally fucked up, but was able to make it work anyway. What a great game.

remember
you can make your mercs move backwards without making them turn away
you can also make your mercs sidestep
you can also craft some shit
you can make new holes in buildings if they hole up

Please stop having fun playing video games, we are on /v/ here.
Thank you for you're collaboration.
>>
>>736906163
yes. you can make them keep looking at one direction
>>
When I first played this game I didn't realize that you can improve your aim by repeatedly right clicking or whatever. Boy did I feel dumb.
>>
for longest time i didnt know u can run in turn mode (it requires pressing R i think) so i almost never re-positioned during combat because cost of walking was too high.

Personally 2 full squads is the sweet spot, 3 squads is doable but a bit more of a micromanagement hassle for the return on investment. Having a couple of jannies training militia also helps.

Protip: if you knock out someone (don't kill them) you can steal their weapon with a 100% chance by, iirc, holding CTRL + left click on their body. Free weapons if you're scrounging up for shit, especially early game you get easy access to SMGs.

> knock out someone

not sure if it got fixed in stracciatella which everyone should be using for modern OS support, bug fixes and makes enemies actually able to go on roofs

pincer attack at the SAM site for the win
>>
finished 1.13 aimnas bigmaps never ever
>>
>>736908397
i wish 1.13 was just vanilla but with improved balance etc, instead its a bloat mod for turbo autists akin to Long War 2 for XCOM2
>>
>>736908660
That's what stracciatella is, it's pretty much the Gold version with QoL and compatibility changes.
>>
>>736904640
JA3 is better technically. The gameplay is much more fun
>>
>>736908917
fuck no
>maps are so claustrophobic small compared to JA2, you can literally run up to enemy first turn and knife them to death then run away
>unrealistic arbitrary damage reduction when using burst mode because they couldnt figure out good burst accuracy system
>overdone and cringe humor EVERYWHERE
>voodoo Africa is a worse setting than latin america
>one of the worst inventory systems in any game
>frustrating and gamified weapon upgrade system which encourages save scamming
>once u learn how Stealth works it trivializes the game even on highest difficulty

I am happy for you, anon.

There's a lot that I wish was in JA3, vehicles (helicopter, enemy tanks), more non-combat items like alcohol, more interiors, shit like mafia hitmen

damn, and i was planning to try it out at some point in the future because of JA3 buns

It's fine
>>
>>736909429
its still good and enjoyable game and worth a playthrough.
>>
>>
For me its grizzly, bull, grunty and igor
>>
>>736908917
I could live without the "thing" that happens halfway through the game
>>
>>736909591
If you let your militia have some battles you'll keep more than half the map
>>
>>736909654
Yeah, that's what I did, still pretty annoying

Fair enough

It's a very good sequel, doesn't top JA2 and it does a lot of things differently but I finished it in normal and hardest mode and loved it.
On the tactical side it's streamlined (no managing magazines, common ammo pool) but there's more of an RPG aspect with builds for your mercs and a lot more side and main quests.
A lot of the mercs are flanderized, sadly a product of our times, but most of them remain endearing. Steroid is now an Arnold caricature but I love Arnold so it didn't piss me off. Scully talks about his 50 ex-wives when he only had one throw away line when seeing a Crepitus for the first time in JA2 ("ex-wife's lawyer") and he was much more professional.

It's a great JA2 sequel, the actual game, not 1.13. They even included a Crepitus equivalent, kept the merc likes/dislikes, kept each merc individually thanking (you) the player when you finish the game etc.
Great and underrated OST too + modding support. Compared to other raped franchises JA enjoyers like myself really had it good with JA3, just forget anything between 2 and 3 exists.

Funny, regular 1.13 vanilla is too vanilla for me. My personal favorite experience was UC 1.13 with attachments overhaul. My last JA2 vanilla experience was playing straciatella on a old ass HP tablet.

I mean I played like maybe 9k hours of ja2 in general from when I was a kid. Could prolly still draw each arulco zone from memory. I haven't touched JA2 or 1.13 in years though. 1.13 is actually pretty tame with the gun bloat. Vanilla ja2 is just FN FAL spam endgame.

Really grateful to the boomer folks at bear pit, love those guys. 1.13 really expanded my gun knowledge and autism.

only played early pirated versions of it, somehow it kept crashing and I gave up after 3ish hours. It was... okayish but not 'real Jagged Alliance'. Still too janky but it felt like a step up from the russian attempts. Like you can replicate the turn based aspect and movements and small maps, but it's still a niche. Perfection would have been having a continuous full scaled arma style map, have a whole simulation of an army actually existing and moving. Mix macro strategy and do tactical in turn based, I dunno. JA3 never should have been ever thought of or designed as 'JA2 but 3d!'. Make it feel like a real map, with real scale with real distances.
