It doesn't seem like Neptune references gaming culture or real world social culture as much as she used too. No gamer slang no pop culture references. We still get her meta commentary on game mechanics and cliches but it feels sort of hollow.
>>736908908Yeah, I don't remember which Neptunia game it was, but in one of the early ones there was short bit of dialog about dude in game store buying just bunch of Microsoft consoles, and specifically no games at all.I was pretty impressed by that bit, since it was very clear reference to one fairly recent bit of minor Japanese gaming news. I guess the games take so long to develop now that it's just not feasible?
She makes me think of THAT artist. You know... THAT one. Who draws THAT stuff.
>>736909068How long can Neptune games really take they just reskin alot of the enemies and environments
>>736909119Vague
Gaming culture and the relationships between publishers, devs, console manufacturers and consumers have become so obtuse that it's practically impossible for Neptunia to seriously deal with it anymore whilst also holding onto the same original tone. If the characters genuinely represented the companies they're based off, I feel like they'd all become a lot less likable.

'00s Xbots vs Sony ponies (and Nintendo at kids' corner) is more entertaining than modern grey goo market
