It looks like Switch 2 games using smaller and cheaper cart sizes have started to come out.
If it kills off game-key cards then good. I might actually buy a Switch 2 at some point.
>>736909541I guarantee you the pokémon company will still cheap out and do game keys
>>736909971Is Pokopia a GKC?
>>736909859It won't happen, since games that are over 64 GB will still go for them.>>736910017Yes.
>>736910061>YesFuck.>games that are over 64 GB will still go for themIf there's a smaller one why can't there be a bigger one?
>>736910115Bigger size cartridges are more expensive to produce. It's why GKC cards are even a thing in the first place.
>>736910115Because it would cost more.
>>736910061The only recent game I can think of of any value that's got any chance of a switch 2 port with a larger than 64GB filesize is onirism, and that would probably be digital only to begin with.Actually now I look closer it just barely squeaks in under that, I wouldn't be surprised if that's changed by the time of the next update, if you made it so the cart only had the campaign on it you can probably make it work though
>>736909541>Nintendo may be absorbing rising memory costsThird parties are such greedy retards they release fucking code in a box over GCK
I really doubt there's that huge of a difference in price for these. It's a proprietary format that's probably expensive to produce no matter what. Third parties refused to pay for 32 GB cards back on Switch when games got too big for the smaller cards.
There's no point in keeping the physical game tradition alive. Anyone trying to resist is just like the people who refused to let go of floppy disks. Key cards are the future, digital is the future. Everything physical will eventually become obsolete, even Bluray. Nintendo just got a head start by getting people used to key cards. Eventually, even Sony will follow and there's nothing you can do to stop it.
>>736911015If the difference between 16GB and 64GB is like the one between 16 and 32 on Switch 1, then it's pretty major.
>>736911015It's not a proprietary format, retard. It's just a new technology and wasn't mass produced until Nintendo adopted it for Switch 2.
>>736911062Blu-ray is already obsolete, Switch 2 cards load data much faster
>>736911062This is the mindset of people that believe in constant growth and don't understand their specific reality is just an exception bubble in the hystory of the world or even humanity. It's like when people say>what do you need a gun for?Because they have never been attacked once in their life. They can't conceive a reality that is not their limited experience.
>>736911170Not fast enough, multiple developers have come out to say reading from the a switch 2 card vs reading from Switch 2 storage space or micro sd express card is much slower.
>>736909859>muh game-key card!!!Performative larp, this is not a real issuenot to mention meanwhile the ps5 has digital only and code boxes
>>736909541>lower cost
>>736910061>It won't happen, since games that are over 64 GB will still go for them. Why can't just optimize their games? You don't need 4K textures on a console that can barely render 540p.
>>736911337>not to mention meanwhile the ps5 has and code boxesno they don't
>>736909541Nintendo is screwing over physical buyers. Put out the bigger chips and just charge more. Physical buyers will gladly pay the premium to own their high-quality Nintendo video games.
>>736911506Nintendo already charges as much as they can, perhaps more. First party physical games are 80€ in Europe, Yoshi being the first one priced at 70 possibly due to using a lower size cart. Other publishers like the one for the new game in the OP don't have the luxury of dedicated fans buying their games at that price and cheaper carts are a life saver.
>>736909859>If it kills off game-key cards then good. I might actually buy a Switch 2 at some point. It's a double edged sword, recent third party physical Switch 2 games are about $15 more than on every other console(and $15 more than digital on Switch 2). These 16gb cartridges cost devs $10 instead of $15, so you'd be paying $80 for the worst port of a game instead of $70 just to have it on a cartridge. Which means that most devs will STILL use Game Key Carts for price parity most of the time unless Nintendo's recent decision to charge $10 more for physical games gets people used to paying that premium on their ecosystem.
>>736912265>These 16gb cartridges cost devs $10 instead of $15How do you know?

>>736911170>Load data from physical mediaI know you tendies are content with early 2010's mobile hardware, but thats not been a thing with consoles since 2020, you should read up on the PS5 SSD's speed.
>>736911337>not a real issueGo fuck yourself. Any option that means I don't have to install a game to a hard drive is welcome in my book.
>>736911506>Physical buyers will gladly pay the premium to own their high-quality Nintendo video games.Sure, but it'd help if they started putting any out first! DOHOHOHOHO
>>736911337The Switch 2 has digital only and code boxes too, you retard. But at least most PS5 games are on disc. The PS5 install is like the old days of PC gaming where you buy a game, put in the discs, and install it to your hard drive. The GKCs require you to download the game from the eshop, it's like having to put in the CD, download the game from Steam's servers, and then put the CD in whenever you want to play the game without any way to get a no CD crack.
>>736909541it a first step in the right direction, the problem is that greedy turd party faggots will still refuse to put their 32~64 gb slop in 64 gb carts
