How hard it would be to have a MMORPG based on pic rel, or at least a M&B styled Dominions RPG?To who do I have to sacrifice to get something like this?
>>736916947Your best hope would be someone modding an existing game. Dom is far too niche for Illwinter or anyone else to attempt making this for real.
>>736916947do it yourself, the tools are available to make it so 90% of the work is already done.
>>736917406Too niche, too broad. Like which nations would you want to include at the bare minimum in say an m&b mod? Ermor is for sure a centerpiece of the lore. But everyone is intermingling more and more as time goes on.
An RPG with Dominions blood magic would be vile, and I'm all for it.
>>736916947>or at least a M&B styled Dominions RPG?Only thing preventing this is the fact Dominions games just aren't that popular. Setting is there.
>>736920123abysia, arcoscephale, atlantis, caelum, c’tis, ermor, jotunheim, man, marignon, pangaea, pythium, r’lyeh, ulm, vanheimmodding m&b warband is piss easy too
>>736916947what would the playable races be and how would you make it so that 50% of the playerbase doesn't play the calculated meta race
>>736924362Make the avaliable races/chassis in each world/server something configurable and with some dynamic availability so that game doesnt end up with every player rolling a muspelgiant jarl chassi just because they can. Leave each server to figure out what they want, which I think fits in with the unpredictability factor of every map/game that is core of Dom. Also keep the high letality and bullshit of Dom as a core design. Just like in Dom very few units can take on a giant head to head without being another giant themselves, but there is aways a counter play for everything or some bullshit to fuck you up, and if all else fails, players will just set up a truce to gang up on a major threat to everyone. I think that a Dom RPG where every one is trying to cook up the biggest bulshit to become the Pantorkrator a or help another player/npc become one before all others would wacky as shit, and diplomacy and player interactions might become a natural balance to the game.
>>736916947like 99% of the fun in this game is scripting your mages/armies and watching them fight, how are you gonna do that in an RPG?
>>736916947>how hard would it be to have an MMORPG or M&B based on generic fantasyslopjust play WoW or install any of the 50 fantasy mods for Warband
>>736917406 >Too niche, too broad. That’s exactly why it’d work as a sandbox though. You don’t cram *every* nation in at once, you start era-based or region-based and expand. Warband didn’t launch with 400 factions either. Ermor as a late-game world event faction alone would carry a server. Imagine logging in and half the map is suddenly undead provinces because some autist actually finished the global ritual chain. Niche isn’t the problem. Budget and dev autism levels are. Dom players would absolutely no-life something like that.
>>736916947Explain to me how you would make Dom6 work with hundreds of simultaneous players.
>>736926705>Dominions power curve>>736927965There's a lot of interesting stuff going on in the vast amount of unit, nation and item descriptions. Surely you can think of something which would be cool to experience closer to the ground.
>>736928954>pick an avaliable faction on the map and a chassi for your character>fuck around the world, killing neutrals, other players, do raids, get magic items, gems to power up, learn new spells, collect followers alla M&B - typical mmo shit>become big dick of the server or die trying>world changes as players take npc pretender sides and their faction grow wax and wane. Playes who grow in power can also become pretenders>world events like Ermor doing a little oopsie to spice things or players getting enough resources to cast a global for their respective faction. Add demons and horrors too just for the sake of chaos
>>736916947This game seems like it would be really fun if I had autism but I simply can't into it
>>736932561you need the autism for Multiplayer, in singleplayer you can do whatever and succeed
>>736932561>autismIt can be hard on you if you easily get overwhelmed by ludicrous amount of choices, but once you get a feel for the game, the autism is really just keeping track of things and having a good repertoir of solutions for whatever your enemies might throw at you.If anything, autism might actually make the game harder for you considering the organic diplomacy on MP games, and how being good at the game wont save you from being attacked by more than 2 players at the same time.
>>736932617>>736933789Late game requires autism regardless because of the sheer amount of crap you're managing.
>>736916947Divinity Original Sin styled CRPG but it’s set in Conquest of Elysium instead because it has better lore.
>>736916947Honestly probably not too hard. The game itself is just a bunch of intricate stat blocks. Its a content issue. There is a lot of factions and spells and sprites to turn into anything else.
>>736933893against the AI? nah, one single doomstack is enough, yes you gotta script it properly but that's about it unless you are fighting on several fronts, but even then some thugs/mages that casts field wipes spells should be enough to defend against anything the AI throws at you single their whole strategy is to throw hordes of chaff at youmultiplayer is another beast entirely
>>736916947kino game
>>736916947I'd settle for them just releasing trade and taint at this point.
For me, it's Conquest of Elysium. The game that isn't too complicated for my diminutive brain.
>>736934007>the final boss is a moose
>>736940117Losing territory because a random wild snake or deer happened to walk over it really annoyed me.
>>736940117I tried. It looks interesting but it just doesnt hit the same as Dom for me
>>736940117Wazo rapist of kobolds?
>>736940610Did you not play Age of Wonders as a child? Indies fuck you over the exact same way
>>736917460this
>>736916947Trade and Taint never ;_;
