I can't speak on 3rd Strike, but Sunshine, Wind Waker, and MGS2 were absolutely shunned and shit on when they were new. Not that there's anything wrong with this, but the fact that those three games are now not only being called great but that everyone loved them at the time does prove that revisionism is real in the sense that the people around at the time are not around to shed light on the reality of that time. Rather, the people who were either too young or are still assmad about the reception of the games/consoles at the time after all these years are the ones making hour long retrospectives and influencing. There are people who legitimately believe that the GameCube was a success and is one of the best video game consoles ever made. In about 10 years time or maybe less, there will be people who will fight to the death that the Wii U was actually a success and was one of Nintendo's best consoles ever made (or among the best ever).
