Im playin DOOM The Dark Ages, Im 9 missions in and Im already burnt out hoping for it to end.
I looked up a walktrough and Im just 1/3 of the game in.
And this is a short game, onñy 14 hours long, and yet I feel like it should have ended already.

2021 study found that only 14% of players complete AAA games
people want shorter games with replayability, not super long slogfests that never end

Yes. But what can you do people decide how much a game is worth by how long the story mode is. 40 mins arcade is all we need
>>
>>736933338
No, games aren't too long.
Just like a shit book or a shit movie; shit games feel like a slog to get though.

Doom the Dark Ages is one such game.

Pacing is important in books and movies too

Its a very action oriented game with no distractions, and Ive been skipping all the cutscenes. But I feel like I already saw everything it has too offer, its just horde after horde of demons.

>15h hours is too long in times where 50h is the norm

TDA's enemy design is lackluster. Can anyone who's played it ever recall a moment in the campaign where you had to git gud? Any combination of enemies that got your attention like Classic's Arch-Vile or Eternal's Marauder/Spirit? It never happens.
>>
TDA never felt like it really escalated encounter design enough to justify its length. Besides that, the faceroll parryslop design renders the skill ceiling so low that you feel youve mastered the game halfway through. Unlike Eternal which personally took 2 playthroughs to start feeling invincible

The backlash to TAG1 totally buckbroke nu-id.

you don't play in one sitting dumbass
get up and go for a walk every 2 hours or so

Coom: the coomrim ages

I unironically enjoyed it more than Doom 4 and maybe Doom 2.

Or check steam statistics and achievements. Most don't pass the first chapter. Oblivion remaster was hilarious in this regard. All that fake hype and most didn't even play past the fucking intro.

Whenever you see the games have all kind of sliders for difficulty the developers are not confident in their product. Gameplay loop is not as fun as eternal and on top of that you have those awful flying and giant missions
>>
>>736933338
14 hours isn't short. It's above average length.
>>
>>736933338
this game basically has no level design, it feels like every room is a repeat

I play a mission a day or less

You can see exactly how many chapters are in the game every time you start a new one, genius.
